Akaso Brave 4. Cheap, does pretty good. Came with a charger and second battery. I just swap it out every ride.

No reason to wait on a camera. You should record any incident for insurance purposes. Add to that given you're on a bike, in a bad accident you may not remember much. Dash cams wired into the bikes are a good option. Insta360 is a good option. I went with a cheap Akaso Brave 4 on a chinmounts mount. $70+$35. Came with two batteries, last about 2 hours. So I typically just change the battery after each ride.

Akaso Brave 4, it’s a GoPro knockoff. Great for what I need Camera and DIY suction cup mount https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I_ngi8SaFyY Videos https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=To7HXpoXlgE

Most practical? Insta360 X3/X4. Records in multiple directions and mounts to the bike so it can stay charged for 24/7 recording. This is the simplest way to get dashcam functionality on your bike. If you want cool POV social media footage then an action cam from Insta360 or DJI, GoPro isn’t competitive these days. If you’re on a budget and don’t care about audio quality, the AKASO Brave is a good way to get started and see if you want to go further in. With these helmet cams though you will need to be more deliberate when recording footage as the batteries last around 1-2 hours

I bought an AKASO thinking it’d be good as a cheaper alternative to a GoPro. I haven’t found an app like TrackAddict, etc. that pairs with it, so I’m forced to record and sync video and data manually by bringing both files into RaceRender separately. I would’ve gotten a GoPro had I known this beforehand which would make video/data syncing sooo much easier.

I record data via TrackAddict. What data are you talking about? My AKASO doesn’t connect to TrackAddict so I need to start data via TrackAddict first, then start video on my AKASO separately

Depends on why you want it. For vlogging, the ace pro is a great camera. If you want it as a dashcam, I personally wouldn't want an expensive camera on my helmet all the time, so I use a cheap Akaso for that and switch to the insta when I actually care about my footage.

I have an Akaso and pulling the video and data separately is a pain, but they sync up automatically. Data starts when the video starts.

One cent under $70 and you can get it by tomorrow. Quality is likely shit and 90% of the reviews are fake. I rented a Hero 7 back in 2019 for a trip. Came home and bought an Akaso, had I not had the experience with GoPro I would have probably kept it. Comparing the two it was night and day. It may work for your use case, if not you can just return it. https://preview.redd.it/zpf8gv6acmbg1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa81856dd3fce5483398c88649b504666a1317d5

Don't buy the akaso, underwater pictures are insanely green to a point where you can't fix it. Osmo is way better, have the 5pro and it's insane
