I use some knock off action cam on amazon that I have mounted to the back of my frame pointed slightly toward traffic and it just gets everything behind me as I ride, including plates. These are way south of $100.
amazon akaso v50x is what I use, it's $110 not sub $100. Battery is good for over an hour.
I use an inexpensive Akaso V50X as a dashcam, mounted on my handlebars. The 4K video isn’t GoPro quality but it’s plenty good for dashcam purposes. It comes with 2 batteries, buy extras as each one lasts 60+ minutes at 4K, or you can power it from an external battery.
Hey, I have Akaso v50x - its very budget friendly and I like it. I used it for cycling trips, snorkeling, skiing and for my needs is all I hoped for. Check it out...
Because akaso footage looks like garbage. Their best camera is the brave 8, and that runs as much as a used GoPro 11. I wish I still had some footage from my akaso v50x. IT.WAS.BAD. You might see akaso footage on YouTube that looks "decent" but in 2023 they changed the innards of their cameras and now the quality is garbage, for the same price. My mistake was trying 2 akaso cameras before just biting the bullet and getting the GoPro. If money was no object I'd have gotten a DJI action 5 pro($350) or an insta ace pro 2 ($450)
I got the Akaso V50 for my first snorkelling trip last year - you can see an example video [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/snorkeling/comments/1k93cp6/snorkelling_at_maldives/). It was sub £100 brand new so pretty cheap, and I was very pleased with it. However my wife wanted to join in so I bought a more expensive camera for this year's trip, the DJI Action 6 this year - video [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/snorkeling/comments/1qunerk/early_morning_maldives_snorkel/). The difference was really very noticeable looking at our raw footage - the Akaso video always had a greenish tinge whereas on the Action 6 the light came through much better. But, until I'd tried the Action 6 I was perfectly happy with the Akaso!
I bought an AKASO thinking it’d be good as a cheaper alternative to a GoPro. I haven’t found an app like TrackAddict, etc. that pairs with it, so I’m forced to record and sync video and data manually by bringing both files into RaceRender separately. I would’ve gotten a GoPro had I known this beforehand which would make video/data syncing sooo much easier.
I record data via TrackAddict. What data are you talking about? My AKASO doesn’t connect to TrackAddict so I need to start data via TrackAddict first, then start video on my AKASO separately
Depends on why you want it. For vlogging, the ace pro is a great camera. If you want it as a dashcam, I personally wouldn't want an expensive camera on my helmet all the time, so I use a cheap Akaso for that and switch to the insta when I actually care about my footage.
I have an Akaso and pulling the video and data separately is a pain, but they sync up automatically. Data starts when the video starts.
One cent under $70 and you can get it by tomorrow. Quality is likely shit and 90% of the reviews are fake. I rented a Hero 7 back in 2019 for a trip. Came home and bought an Akaso, had I not had the experience with GoPro I would have probably kept it. Comparing the two it was night and day. It may work for your use case, if not you can just return it. https://preview.redd.it/zpf8gv6acmbg1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa81856dd3fce5483398c88649b504666a1317d5
Don't buy the akaso, underwater pictures are insanely green to a point where you can't fix it. Osmo is way better, have the 5pro and it's insane
