I use a Drift Ghost XL Pro, camera quality is good, battery life is close to 4 hours at 4k30fps. Battery is built in, which can be a drawback, although it can be charged whilst filming, if you don't mind a dangling wire, and losing water resistance (usb C is behind a closed clip normally). The microphone sucks. If you want to record sound, you definitely need an external mic and recording. The lens can be rotated, so it can be mounted at almost any angle. This helps me, because I can mount it on the side of my helmet (modular, on top is not an option), and also on the top of my bicycle and snowboard helmets. It's quite reasonably priced, the app interface is middling but works, build quality is good and the camera is lightweight.

All the GoPros and clones have a limited battery life unless you hard wire them. Consider the Ghost XL at that price range, comes with a curved mount to fit the helmet and happily records 1080p30 for 8 hours. The front lens/sensor assembly can be rotated to any angle to accommodate whichever way it's mounted, and it has a decent FOV (140 degrees). Video is encoded with an Ambrella device so decent quality.

Personally I use Ghost Drift XL. The quality of the footage wouldn't rival that is a GoPro but I'm using it for commuting and the battery lasts the entire week (about 40 minutes daily X5). More than happy with it. Way less hassle.

I use a Ghost Drift XL solely as a dashcam. Has a dedicated dashcam setting, and waterproof power connector so doesn't rely on battery.
