"I also like the image stabilization software built into them. ... I record on my kayak a lot and it’s nice to not get seasick when viewing my footage."
"It is stacked with features INCLUDING horizon lock and works a dream."
"The most important thing if you're filming video is image stabilization, which gopro is best of class at for non-professionals. ... There's nothing worse than shaky cam footage underwater and it's really good at producing smooth footage even for beginners."

"The picture quality is amazing ... the footage is really sharp"
"For me the killer features though are 5.3k 8:7 ... Those all help a lot for editing."
"I’m still using an older GoPro hero 9 and it takes fantastic 4k 60FPS video."

"The result of that is that at 30 fps you get 3.3 megabits per frame, while at 60 fps you get just 1.6 megabit per frame. ... Shoot 30 fps, and you get a slight reduction in motion quality (which matters less than you think for driving, but might be very noticeable in say, mountain biking or FPV drone footage), but a boost in overall image quality in each frame."

"It's still working after 19 years."
"held up fine in a light 20 minutes hailstorm"
"they're pretty lightweight for what they are! ... I'm not sure it's possible for it to be any lighter than it already is whilst maintaining that level of robustness. ... Most other tents that are as strong as a Soulo weigh more than a Soulo"

"they dont DELETE YOUR FOOTAGE FOR NO REASON ... from the hero -until the 12 black every single one at one point or another simply corrupted/deleted a whole days of videos. ... i will not give GoPro another single $ until they figure out wtf happens where it corrupts/deletes videos. its a useless camera if it cant save a video."
"my last gopro was the hero 8. i still have it but its doesn’t work as it constantly loses footage."
"Turn it on and it records for 5 seconds then shuts off and won't power back on. ... Sometimes it won't turn on at all. ... Only fix is to remove the battery and put it back in. ... Sucks when you're riding and you think it's recording but it's actually not."

"I just can't stand the low light performance as its pretty bad."
"I began using a GoPro (Hero 9) for family videos but over time I found its low light/night time capabilities lacking."
"they still use a tiny sensor and low light performance is still very bad."

"and they also overheat. It could be that I'm in Australia, but I've mounted my Insta in my car to record random stupidity and then find it's off and recorded a minute or two before dying. ... Just Google Insta overheating, and it's an issue they are 100% trying to hide."
"GoPros aren’t really meant to be on for long periods of time (at least that generation, I’m not too familiar with the newer ones). ... The GoPro runs extremely hot to the point where with the battery it would overheat and shut off."
"Lol, mine overheats all the time. I have to keep it in the shade when using it if it is remotely hot out. ... I'd probably overheat any camera in my use on a tripod in the middle of a sunny concrete skatepark filming for long periods of time. ... I've had the 8 9 and now have the 12. They all overheat after five minutes if its too hot out. ... + 80° F outside with no shade, it WILL overheat on me and shut down. Every time."
It's simple to me. GoPro Hero cameras are a huge PITA to use. They're horribly unreliable and nowadays DJI/Insta look just as good. It's been like this since at least Hero 10. They have done nothing to fix the Hero line and continue to push out a new model every year. It's corporate greed and it's killing the company. I've spent a lot of money on GoPro gear only to be burned by them over and over again. I go out of my way to recommend against GoPro any time some asks. I will give credit where it's due though. The MAX 360 has been a great camera for me. I don't have any of the issues that are so abundant on Hero cameras. It's the only GoPro product I've had a good experience with but I still can't recommend it because of the culture at GoPro. I know if anything comes up that requires them to lift a finger to fix, it will remain broken forever while they work on the next yearly model release.
r/MTB • Is GoPro dying? ->For me GoPro always had the best mic/audio balance. insta always sounded baseless and sucked at eliminating wind noise as well
r/Cameras • I don't know what vlogging camera to buy ->Unpopular opinion maybe, but gopro puts out great quality underwater footage. It depends what you're using it for and what you want to film though. I'd encourage you to go look up recent gopro 4k underwater footage and you'd be surprised how crisp and sharp the images are, even without additional lights or gear. If you're looking for close up macro shots it's not the best (although it can still take great stills or you can also simply extract a still from 4k footage). I can't count the number of times I've seen people commenting on amazing shots here and asking what camera was used, only to be surprised that it was actually just a still frame from a gopro video. Is it the best for making professional quality prints or video? Probably not. Does it put out great quality non-professional video for a vacation diver? Absolutely. If you're okay with the quality of iphone videos, you'll likely be okay with the quality of gopro videos. The most important thing if you're filming video is image stabilization, which gopro is best of class at for non-professionals. There's nothing worse than shaky cam footage underwater and it's really good at producing smooth footage even for beginners. If you want to up your gopro game, you can still do it on a budget by adding a good tray (don't buy a handle) and two lights. I use a backscatter tray with 2x Orcatorch D710Vs. It's very decent and hard to beat at the price range. Sky's the limit on price if you want to look at more premium options. The best part is that I can fit it all in a regular sized backpack, which is something you can't do with nearly any other underwater camera options. I'm, also not worried about it getting banged around as they're built like tanks. Lastly there's a huge market of used gopros too if you really want to buy something on a budget.
r/scubadiving • What affordable camera and equipment would you recommend? ->I’ve had GoPros since the 3 series, and DJI has embarrassed GoPro over the last 3 years. Go with DJI.
r/motorcyclegear • Action Camera? ->I have bought the 3+, 5 black, 8 black, and 11 black over the years. They’ve done me well, but I won’t be buying another one. DJI has surpassed them everywhere. I understand there is a lot of brand riders here because I get downvoted anytime I bring up DJI being better. I’m going with the Osmo Pocket line in the future.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I loved my 3+ hero black it was the one that got me into it!
r/gopro • Which is your favorite GoPro? ->Indeed, they released a 3+ which had very little improvements on the 3 just to save the yearly cycle. Really weird...not to see at least a 13+
r/gopro • Get over it, there's no 14 coming this year ->Many videos shown on YouTube are from the launch periods and are sponsored. Especially the DJI Action 5 was pushed pretty hard in my opinion. But they all make great videos. If you want low light performance I wouldn't go the gopro way. But in good light conditions I'd say the gopro still has the crown. For me the killer features though are 5.3k 8:7 and Gopro Labs which adds features no other action cam even comes close to. Those all help a lot for editing.
r/gopro • why does every comparison video on YT seem like to bashing Go pro 13 ? is it really that far behind the competitors ? ->Yeah I think that’s what it is. Why would I hate a company? I’m just currently not interested in what they’re offering. I had a GoPro Hero 3+, which I had a blast with years ago, now there are better options for cheaper without the risk of overheating and missing my footage.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->Go 3s good for POV.
r/Insta360 • What is a good action Camera for Sports POV and Everyday life POV ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
