Hero 3 Silver has a special place in my heart. Hero 5 was the first to really WOW me.

I've got a Hero 11 and a Max 2. I used to own a Insta360 x5 and a go 3s. GoPro has done a good job of engineering the cameras to be fairly rugged and work under difficult conditions (more so than Insta), and while the quality isn't there for low light, I've been ok with that, because it constitutes a small fraction of what I want to video. I particularly like the GoPro buttons, which I feel work better when my hands are cold. Plus, I do a lot of editing on Quik now, which works and does the minimum I need.

I have bought the 3+, 5 black, 8 black, and 11 black over the years. They’ve done me well, but I won’t be buying another one. DJI has surpassed them everywhere. I understand there is a lot of brand riders here because I get downvoted anytime I bring up DJI being better. I’m going with the Osmo Pocket line in the future.

You can go cheaper, you can get a Gopro hero 3+ or 4 for like 30 euro used if you keep an eye on online marketplaces. But I think a slightly more modern version with stabilization would work better for cycling. (Starting from the hero 7 black they have HyperSmooth, if you're lucky you might be able to pick up a 7 black for around 100 euro).

Indeed, they released a 3+ which had very little improvements on the 3 just to save the yearly cycle. Really weird...not to see at least a 13+
