"take it snowboarding/skiing and watch the battery go from 100 to 0 after 2 minutes of video. ... Last go pro I had was an 8. 2 separate batteries. Would always die inside just a couple minutes record time if the temp was under 20 degrees. ... Like a couple like 5 minutes. Maybe maybe 10 minutes record time on a full charge."
"Gops 8 and two batteries that die within minutes in cold weather."
"Battery life was horrible. ... I had to buy 3 extra batteries (off brand) with a charging case that allowed “action” with my action camera. ... The chargers that come with GoPro dont allow that."

"they dont DELETE YOUR FOOTAGE FOR NO REASON ... from the hero -until the 12 black every single one at one point or another simply corrupted/deleted a whole days of videos. ... i will not give GoPro another single $ until they figure out wtf happens where it corrupts/deletes videos. its a useless camera if it cant save a video."
"Turn it on and it records for 5 seconds then shuts off and won't power back on. ... Sometimes it won't turn on at all. ... Only fix is to remove the battery and put it back in. ... Sucks when you're riding and you think it's recording but it's actually not."

"Refreshing to see that action camera can actually be reliable and not crash and overheat all the time ... Gopro has always had a lot of overheating issues, corrupt files, crashing issues, super unresponsive UI, and horrible battery life. ... Constantly got those issues with gopro."

"the Hero 8 because of the non-replaceable lens cover is not an "action" friendly decision by gopro."
"8 is decent, just the 9 forward have a removable lens, so you can easily put on an ND filter, which I highly recommend if you're going to be in sunlight."

There’s larger sensors in the insta Ace Pro2 and the DJI Action 5 that handle low light conditions very well. I have the GoPro 8, 11, and the DJI Action 5 and I always grab the DJI over the GoPro for night work.
r/gopro • Best GoPro for night time shooting. ->As most people here mentioned, there are trade-offs and physics/technological barriers. GoPro actually had slightly better lowlight back in hero8 while the sensor was still 12MP. It also had less issues with overheating before the camera pushed to super high resolutions and high FPS. But the market seemed to want innovation in resolution and FPS back then. And if you ask many creators, they praise GoPros large 8x7 sensor and super detailed 5.3K res as factors of why they like GoPro. Over the years GoPro addressed most things except lowlight (mostly due to tech availability), but they have been incrementally addressing overheating each year. You only see these as “constant issues” because GoPro chose to prioritize features over those two remaining physical challenges. If GoPro went a different direction you might be saying “GoPro has done everything except for it’s stuck in the past with low resolutions, low FPS and low megapixel photos.” Hard to say which is the better tradeoff now, but competitors saw where they could differentiate and chose to attack those directly - lowlight and overheating - albeit they still aren’t perfect. It’s all about perspective - but we all agree GoPro is due for a technological advancement in lowlight and heat.
r/gopro • Why do GoPros STILL have the same bad sides ->Hero 8, 9, 10 user here. Go for Insta360. But if you’re looking between GoPro and dji, go for dji. In other news, I’m looking to sell my hero 10, if anyone is interested (Kolkata or vicinity) let me know. I’ve got all accessories and a boatload of additional stuff for it. Asking for 20k.
r/indianbikes • Need suggestions for action camera. ->Have yet fo find a worthwhile knockoff action camera. I still rock a hero 8 black and am super happy. If you wanna save cost get a few generations old!
r/snowmobiling • Pro Xtreme 4k camera reviews? ->Just get an old GoPro. I have 8s that are still used for a variety of things and work decently well
r/gopro • Gopro hero 4K as a webcam ->A GoPro 7 or 8 then. I don't recommend less know action cameras brands like Akaso, not terrible but not great either. Sound quality is really bad and the image stabilization performance is inferior compared to the GoPro or the DJI Action cameras.
r/Cameras • Wearable action cam? ->Please stay away from cameras with brands like Vivitar or Polaroid. Look for used GoPro like the 8 or 9. Also the DJI Action 2.
r/Cameras • Action Camera Recommendation ->Used gopro. Hero 8 black has been great for me.
r/Autocross • Budget action camera ->I think **Gopro Hero 8 is the best action camera** in 2024 (since 2019) but mine died and I can't replace it. I tried : \- Gopro 10 : very very very bad Gopro. Only good in full sunlight (same for 9 I guess). \- Gopro 12 : very bad underwater (my main use), but very detailed in full sunlight and Ok otherwise. Vegetation is strange with it... Distortion are bad, especially when you turn the camera. Stabilization and timewarp aren't reliable in low light. Gopro 8 is still my favorite, but in full sunlight, Gopro 12 can be interresting. And 8:7 is really useful. A good camera to watch your videos in VR with a lot of details. Not really interresting otherwise. \- Osmo Action 4 : a lot better than Gopro 12 underwater (less particles, more details on corals, better colors). Better in low light to catch the true colors and light, but not as detailed, even in low light to watch videos in VR. You have to set ISO manually all the time. \- Insta360 Ace Pro seems to be Ok. I don't really know (I only tried it indoors). It may be better than Osmo Action 4, but focal lenght is too short, so everything close to you is blurry... \>>>>>>> Gopro Hero 8 is the best to film your vacation at sea. It always give good colors and image. You never really have to configure it (except to film a color changing fish or cephalopods, but it doesn't happen very often...) It capture some important details even in low light, without making noise. It's good (not perfect but better than others) with vegetation (even tropical) in daylight. Timewarp works all the time (auto mode isn't perfect underwater but it doesn't really matter because you don't need it underwater). It's small and light. Hero 5 session isn't as good, but it's the lightest and smallest too (60gr), very useful. \----- Concerning VR camera, I only tried Samsung Gear 360. I'll try Insta X4 soon but it's not the same thing. I'll use it for VR, but it can't replace a standard action cam, because it would be blurry

r/gopro • Is GoPro still the best out there? ->I use a GoPro hero 8. Does a pretty good job. My only issue is battery life. I caught a huge fish on my last trip but couldn't record it because my battery died and I didn't notice. I have a lot of batteries to use but I don't always know when it dies.
r/Fishing_Gear • What camera for fishing videos? ->I’ve been using my hero 8 black since I got it when it came out and had zero issues or complaints.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I think the way to look at it, is that GoPro was so far ahead for so long, there was no real competition for them for over a decade. Even DJI had GoPro mounts built in when the Phantom 1 came along. Historically, GoPro perfected their 1080P then moved to 2.7k on the Hero 3 Black. They had the best 4k on the Hero 4 Black. Then they made the whole camera waterproof and added the built in touchscreen on the Hero 5 Black, then they went 4k 60 with moderate stabilization on the Hero 6 black, built a tiny camera on the Session 4 and 5. With the Hero 7 black, they finally got stabilization in camera that started to compete with 3 axis gimbals. On the 8 they had the mount built in so you didn't have to have a frame and changed to a larger form factor with the Hero 9 black and got resolution to 5.3k. They perfected features like Timewarp and Hyperlapse where all the work was done in camera instead of post. They made GoPro labs available for most of their cameras and gave amazing levels of customization that no other cameras have even to this day. Then they really started to stagnate and features were more incremental and evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Sure they had the 8:7 sensor and got video resolution up to 24.7 megapixels, but they still use a tiny sensor and low light performance is still very bad. They also had to deal with the rise of DJI and Insta360 who started to release competing products. Dji matched 10 bit the same year as GoPro, The Action 5 and Ace Pro 2 use much larger sensors and do much better in low light. GoPro was late to the party with magnetic mounting systems and Insta360 even put 8k into their Ace Pro versions. Insta360 has the Ace Pro Line, their Go series mini camera and even had the modular R series which could be an action cam or a 360 camera. In the time since GoPro released the Max, Insta360 has released 5 consumer grade 360 cameras that get better each year and now do 8k. We have no idea when the Max 2 will be released. GoPro stock is hovering around 50 cents a share and the market cap of the entire company is only 75 million dollars. It used to be almost 11 billion dollars, so it is 145 times smaller than it was shortly after the company went public. They have had to lay off staff and that has a huge impact on R&D. They are clearly falling behind competitors with no real path forward. Depending on which site you listen to, they rate the probability of bankruptcy at 33 to 62% in the next 24 months. That is not the sign of a healthy company. They botched the launch of their Karma drone and ceded that potential marketplace to DJI in the process. The reality is that the DJI and Insta360 cameras do a lot of things better and much easier. Low light is a real thing for a lot of people and the Action 5 and Ace Pro do a very good job in the space and GoPro isn't on the same playing field. I love the new GoPro lens system, but I am an advanced user and have been using ND filters, Anamorphic lenses, and macro lenses for years with the GoPro. The new anamorphic lens is great because it does the desqueeze of your footage automatically in camera. What is annoying is that they announced the lens in September of 2024 and I was finally able to get it 7 months later. GoPro is a great camera, but for many people who never touch labs, don't care about 10 bit or color grading, never do reframing 8:7, like to shoot in lower light conditions, or won't spend the $129 on an anamorphic lens, the GoPro is not really the camera for them. Insta360 are releasing much better cameras each year and GoPro is falling further behind. I really want GoPro to come back strong, but I fear they don't have the finances to compete unless they have an absolutely amazing technical breakthrough in the action camera space.
r/gopro • why does every comparison video on YT seem like to bashing Go pro 13 ? is it really that far behind the competitors ? ->The hero 8 black and I’m hoping that one day( if someone does find mine that I’ve lost while at a Waterpark back in June) that I can upgrade it to a new version of the hero black of the GoPro
r/gopro • Which is your favorite GoPro? ->Why does there need to be a new model every single year? I’d rather they wait two or more years and deliver meaningful upgrades, better sensors, new software features, improved battery life. Instead of the barely noticeable spec-bump iterations we often get. They always market these things as 'Pro' or 'Professional,' but actual professional camera equipment lasts for years. New models might only come out every 5-10 years, and even when they do, it doesn’t instantly make the older models completely obsolete or unusable. I was using hero 8's up to a few months ago and only stopped because they had bricked themselves by been left unpowered for a time. The annual release cycle just feels like a cash grab that preys on FOMO. Waiting longer actually give us a genuinely compelling reason to upgrade.
r/gopro • Get over it, there's no 14 coming this year ->They have competition. Mainly insta360 and DJI from what I've seen. DJI seems to sponsor a LOOOOTTT of YouTubers so I don't trust those reviews. Insta360's low light capability seems impressive and obviously they have better 360 cams. I don't hate gopro but I do hate that the main selling point of the 13 was "purchase more lenses". And the quik app is kinda annoying. I wish GoPro would make another Session with in-camera stabilization That said I have a new 12 and loving it. My 8 is having problems after 3 years of lots of use
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->i've been really happy with my gopro, the price is right. i've had the 8 through 11. You can actually pull some great stills from video if you get lucky - i've managed to blow up some stills into large format prints to hang and they look fantastic. Lighting + basic editing skills makes a huge difference.
r/scuba • Advice on buying my 1st Underwater Camera ->I've had the 8 9 and now have the 12. They all overheat after five minutes if its too hot out. I had to buy a mini shade umbrella for it.+ 80° F outside with no shade, it WILL overheat on me and shut down. Every time.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I use a GoPro hero 8 never had problems with it overheating. What can happen though is if you're shooting like 4k high frames and don't have a fast enough memory card it will eventually crash as the card can't keep up with the recording
r/hockeygoalies • Who is using a camera to record themselves during games, and which model? ->A free camera is always worth it as there has been 0 investment. However the Hero 8 is old, the batteries are old, it has a non removable front lens protector and the batteries do not work in cold weather. The Hero 13 is a brilliant camera (I've actually bought 2 of them). The interchangeable lens options (macro, anamorphic, automatic ND filter setup) just makes it a powerhouse of a camera.
r/gopro • Best gopro for snorkling and traveling? ->Supposedly the 8 was made during covid and has so-and-so issues, **No, the 8 was made long before covid and it was a great camera. However it did have a "hot pixel" issue with the sensor that would result in fixed blue or red (or both) dots during low light footage.** 9 had blah blah issues, **The 9 was the Covid camera, delayed multiple times and just plain didn't work upon release. There's a well known audio clicking issue when using the in camera mics and it was the last camera to use the GP1 processor (which meant the camera was underpowered and lacked certain abilities such as clipping full resolution footage and being able to offload those clips in camera).** 10 freezing, **The 10 doesn't have freezing issues, it was the first camera to use the GP2 processor and it is a rock solid camera. "Freezing" comes from having a corrupt SD card which hasn't been repaired.** 11 corruption problems, **The Hero 11 improved upon the rock solid reliability of the Hero 10 and added even more features such as a taller 8:7 sensor, 10bit color and "in camera" night effects. Once again, people using corrupt SD cards or incorrect SD cards would suffer issues.** 12 overheating, **The 12 had all new firmware written for it that took full advantage of the GP2 processor. This enabled bluetooth audio, HDR video, timecode support etc. The issue with overheating is the same with all action cameras (regardless of brand). People have no idea how to film or set up their camera's and will often use the highest "action" settings available as they go for a "walk" or stand around "Fishing" and then wonder why their camera overheats.** 13 becomes a homewrecker... **The 13 is GoPro's most user friendly camera yet. All new thermal design, all new automatic lens detection, Upgraded Wifi, Upgraded Bluetooth, HLG HDR and more. It's GoPro's best camera yet with some amazing features added to the labs firmware.** Maybe 14 will make you commit tax fraud. **If only it were capable of making people smarter and doing better research about camera's........**
r/gopro • What's the most reliable GoPro in the series? ->I bought my 8 when it came out and I'm still using it for everything, from vie ferrate, to vacations, to underwater... I usually record in 2.7k at 60 fps and export at 1080p at 30 fps, so it is good enough for me. I'm just missing horizon level feature from newer models.
r/gopro • Best gopro for snorkling and traveling? ->I can't really answer about your main question (I'm still rocking my hero 8 and I don't plan to change it anytime soon (I'm investing in dslr lenses right now and it still works and make good results) but everything depends on what you need. You say 360 is gimmicky, but my friend has one and I envy the type of shots he can do with it. Wo do vie ferrate and he can make multiple angles in one go with an over head prospective as main pov to give the best idea of the climbing area while incorporating the human subject. With a gopro on my helmet I can do just a boring first person view all the time. To note that we make 1080p videos as our final product so there's that
r/gopro • Is GoPro still the best out there? ->Go with the 8. I have the 9 and it does get very warm when it is just recording without air movement around it. If that is okay then I would get a 9. Great camera.
r/gopro • What GoPro would you recommend? ->I've used a couple GoPro 8's for this purpose, originally as a b-cam but the footage was perfectly useable as the main camera. I use the GoPro Labs firmware to jam sync time code to a Tentacle Sync, something you might want to consider - at very least, use a clapperboard to make it easier to sync up each of your clips with audio.
r/gopro • Best *budget* camera for interviews ->Any GoPro starting with 9 is solid. 8 is decent, just the 9 forward have a removable lens, so you can easily put on an ND filter, which I highly recommend if you're going to be in sunlight. I think the 11 is the first with 10bit video, so it'll give you a bit better color in the gradient, but tbh most people won't notice a difference, but it would give you more options if you are planning on doing any color grading. That tiny Insta 360 camera is pretty cool honestly and I do like the flip screen they offer on their action cam, but GoPro still has better video. If you want a 360 cam, idk, but I've heard the Insta360 is better than the GoPro max, but I've never used either, so..
r/gopro • Action camera for travel ->Software sucks. I’ll admit I was using the Black 8, that might have been the problem, but I wasn’t going to take a chance that the latest model wouldn’t be the same. I’ve several DJI drones so the switch was seamless.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I have an 8 and an 11. The 11 has a much better sensor(same as the 13) and linear picture mode does well for underwater pictures but you do have to get pretty close https://preview.redd.it/laxkv620y36f1.jpeg?width=5568&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68e9014c4f71d604cd37a2d51e8ebe670305ea62
r/gopro • Which one is the best action camera underwater in 2025? ->if you are up to post processing (color correcting / grading) gopro is the beast. honestly i'm not a fan of quik as well but premiere does all my stuff. if you are more into auto mode and prepared stuff, dji can a be go, too. never liked insta series for underwater footage, just not my cup of tea. you can check my profile, i'm only posting underwater footage for various subs. all shots made by gopro (some of them with 8, some of them 11 and rest is 13). also i'm a freediver so all my footages are above 15 meters. to be precise my most shots are between 5-12 meters. Thus, i don't need much of an external light source. I was using dji from time to time, too but their aggressive marketing strategy (our camera is best rest is shit) really make me put my dji away.
r/underwaterphotography • Action camera GoPro 13 vs DJI vs Insta360 ->I have bought the 3+, 5 black, 8 black, and 11 black over the years. They’ve done me well, but I won’t be buying another one. DJI has surpassed them everywhere. I understand there is a lot of brand riders here because I get downvoted anytime I bring up DJI being better. I’m going with the Osmo Pocket line in the future.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->Try olx and get an hero 8/9 under 10k, I purchased my hero 8 from olx for 7k
r/indianbikes • Suggestion for an affordable action camera ->I REEAALLLY wanted to get the Action 5 Because GoPo has been FF-ing’ up that last 8 years or so. My GoPro 11 looks far better than the GoPro 13. I couldn’t believe that the image quality has basically stated the same since the GoPro 8. That one is my favorite. Small form factor, bad ass 4K footage. Only downside low battery life. So I changed to the GoPro 11 with Enduro Batteries. Game Changer. The ONLY reason I considered leaving GoPro was because I use my DJI Mics and the GoPro mic is not that good. BUT it has NO good Bluetooth audio when connected to the DJI. Just terrible. So I’m stuck recording separately audio and video. Such a damn hassle to find the matching videos and audio post processing. If DJI would have better video quality I’d buy it in a heartbeat along with the DJI mini mics, using Bluetooth. Man both companies are really FF-ing’ up. I’m hoping the new GoPro 14 has good Bluetooth audio so I can upgrade.
r/gopro • GP 13 or DJI Action 5? Why? ->Because the GoPro is better in every aspect except low light performance and Bluetooth connection. I have two 12’s, a 10, and an 8. All quality 4K or better footage. DJI can’t compare it looks like a cheap Ali express camera quality. I need my cameras to be all weatherproof and drop resistant, just rugged and durable. Trust me, I’ve been trying to replace them with DJI for years. But they just don’t even compare yet.
r/gopro • Genuinely curious on why anyone still buys Gopro ->I got 2 dashcams before and both were absolutely shit quality and hard to run. Can remember the names but they were both around 120€. Compared to a gopro hero 8 which i had for 6 months off a friend which worked pretty well. But thanks ill look into others
r/motorcycles • Camera recommendations as a dashcam only ->Is this one of those questions where you want to point out that GoPro has had flaws? Then it starts the "Self-Proclaimed" expert on action cameras on the internet to lay out all the issues they "READ" about. Then the one issue they share with someone else that is too often user error becomes that models flaw. This happens with consumer electronics and Reddit is often the home of this "me too" complaining. I don't excuse anyone including GoPro for bad products or bad support even during Covid and continue to research and shop new products almost constantly. I've said this a few times here but I buy electronics with the idea of returning them immediately if there is a flaw. I don't like to sit and wait to see if a firmware release will fix something or add a feature that was advertised. I return it and don't own it until it is working. With this thought in mind I can say I have experience with almost every model since the Hero 2 HD and still own it with one exception the Hero 8 because of the non-replaceable lens cover is not an "action" friendly decision by gopro. I own other camera brands as well and I don't regret buying any model. I sold the Hero 8 to a friend that will likely never scratch the camera so it is safe. The same advice to everyone shopping for a GoPro. With my own personal experience with GoPro I would buy the latest camera all over again every generation. I will say there is one model I am disappointed in and that's the Fusion. I used it quite often and enjoyed using it but was forgotten about when the Max was released. It still works just as good as the day the Max was released.
r/gopro • What's the most reliable GoPro in the series? ->I run a hero 8 black on my helmet and find the video quality great. I also have a media mod to minimise wind noise aswell. You can pick them up fairly cheap aswell
r/motorcyclegear • What camera is best for recording riding. ->I film and make hiking videos and have a ton of cameras. I do not like iPhone footage. Looks too sharpened and saturated to me. I used a GoPro for years. My current one is a GoPro Hero 11 Black and I absolutely love it. The 9 & 10 were buggy. The 8 was solid but the 11 is so much better. The 12 and 13 don’t have enough upgrades to justify. For better footage, set the field of view to linear. Gets rid of the fisheye look. Set sharpness and saturation each to -2. Set color profile to natural. Get smooth, steady shots and don’t swing it around like crazy. It’s a great starting point. Once you get the settings dialed in, you just need to press record for 99% of shots. So it’s easy to use. It’s durable and waterproof and small also. I don’t mount it to anything (unless I’m climbing or rappelling). I got a cheap tripod/extension handle off Amazon and just carry it. You won’t want all your footage to just be a straight ahead shot anyway. I just bought an action 4 but the verdict’s still out on that. If I were to recommend one camera it would be the DJI osmo pocket 3. I absolutely love it. But it’s pricey and if you’re starting out the GoPro will do good enough.
r/CampingandHiking • Help finding a camera for hiking and camping ->IDK My Hero 8 is stick kicking. I did however buy an Insta360 X5 thou.
r/gopro • Genuinely curious on why anyone still buys Gopro ->I got this bundle for $379 which I thought was a good deal. I've been out of the loop when it comes to cameras the past couple years. I've had a GoPro 5 black which was great then it got water damaged and I got a 8 Black as replacement. Didn't use the 8 much until I took it down to 30ft free diving and forgot it needed a case to go down that depth and it got destroyed. Nevertheless, was really great videos I got before it died. I remember GoPro being the leader In action cams so i decided to get the 13 black without much research. I assumed it's still the go to for action cams. Started looking at some videos before it arrives but It seems like almost every YouTuber says it's not good and DJI action 5 is better. Seems like everyone is praising the DJI and completely throwing negative reviews on the GoPro. What happened ?
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->Well said, I still use the HERO8 and its perfectly fine. Only problem is the lack of support from GoPro and you can no longer buy new GoPro batteries for it.
r/gopro • Get over it, there's no 14 coming this year ->I have a gopro8 and a gopro12, here is a link with some screenshots from a video I recently took with my gopro12. [https://www.instagram.com/p/DJf-aVQum3P/?utm\_source=ig\_web\_copy\_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==](https://www.instagram.com/p/DJf-aVQum3P/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) If you want to stick to gopro, decide what kind of video you want to take, wide angle, macro ect ect. The only way I've found to really maximize the potential of the gopro for underwater is to dial in your settings and yes as you said get attachments from backscatter like the flip system or others like it. My setup has the macro lens from backscatter on the flip system and an AOI ultra wide sharp lens. My focus is macro or wide angle macro. I use the gopro12 for this and the gopro8 for standard shooting. [https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3rUzEgLXeU/?utm\_source=ig\_web\_copy\_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3rUzEgLXeU/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) this is a standard shooting mode example on my gopro8 (early in my video-ing journey so forgive the shotty camera work lol I'm still learning) I think the gopro8 black would be a good choice, if your willing to get between gopro10 and 13 black I'd say those are good options with tons of support/mods. They do require some finagling no matter what though.
r/scuba • Quick advice on GoPros for diving ->Hero 6 if using gyroflow, otherwise the hero 7 will suffice. Hero 8 for slightly better stabilization and higher bitrate. Beyond that not even worth it imho.
r/gopro • Best Go Pro for the Money ->I have, and love, the pocket 3; but they are such wildly different camera s that I couldn't even see how it's an either or. The shots I use the P3 for have no overlap in the times where I grab my old GoPro 8.
r/dji • Osmo Pocket 3 or Action 5 Pro? ->https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNd1LL5Sp/ I think I’m a person that can honestly tell you this since I had a X2,3 and now the 4 also have ever since used a Hero 8,9,10 in combination with it. You can get awesome results with the X4, also low light isn’t as bad as people say it is, yeah you lose some sharpness and get grain, but honestly we have that problem with action cams ever since they exist, the ace pro 2 has insane low light performance but only because of its ai processing which in my opinion over sharpens the image. I can just say that for me the X4 is a massive upgrade when it comes to creating 9:16 and 16:9 at the same time, workflow is awesome and yes, the app really is as great as people advertise it. I personally never had any errors or weird problems since using it for about 6 months. I usually recrop the 360 footage it wether landscape or portrait, export it to Luma fusion studio drop in my hero 10 footage and use multicam to sync the videos via. Footage or audio, works like a charm.
r/Insta360 • Is the X4 really that bad? ->I am an Airsoft Player that makes Videos for YouTube as well. Right now I use a GoPro Hero8 the Video is good enough for me but I am very unhappy with 3 things right now. 1. The most important thing is that it is overheating. I need to film multiple hours at a time (3-4 at least. Would be better if it does even more) 2. Kinda goes hand in hand with 1. Is that it is not possible to charge it while filming. 3. I would really like it if it would be possible to lock the horizontal stabilisation. Because when it Tilt my head I would like to have a straight image and not tilled. So these are my 3 main concerns with the 8 witch I would like to upgrade when buying a new camera. Witch one would you think give me the best Price to performance? Also very important. There needs to be a way to make it Bb prove. So that it doesn’t shatter my display or Lenses.
r/airsoft • What cam would you suggest for Airsoft Helmet Cam Footage? ->I got a hero 8 off ebay, but finding batteries were tough. Ended up getting some off ebay for cheap and they have been working fine.
r/gopro • What's the best action camera I can get for 200$ or less (please be less) ->Wow. I am willing to bet you’ve never done a side by side comparison or gopro, insta360, and dji. It has NOTHING to do with influencers. It has to do with GoPro quality and functionality compared to the their competitors. I started on GoPros with a Hero Session 4 (small cube camera). I loved it. After a while i bought GoPro 8. The resolution was an upgrade and still enjoyed using it. But cracks started appearing in my enjoyment. Battery life was horrible. I had to buy 3 extra batteries (off brand) with a charging case that allowed “action” with my action camera. The chargers that come with GoPro dont allow that. Overheating was also an issue. Then i got a GoPro 10. I used both together to get varying shots like outside car / inside car simultaneously. The 10 would shut off automatically when i placed it on the bumper of my car. Still have idea why. Its an action camera, it shouldn’t do that. Overheating on the 10 is WAY worse. And battery life is terrible. Bought 3 more (off brand) batteries with same “action” charger. Then i bought a Max 360. Absolute trash. The color was horrible. The bit depth was so bad a blue sky looked like it was “printed” from a 1990s printer. I used it for like 6 months then sold it. Since i bought that 360, they have been “announcing” a new 360 for over 5 years. Still hasn’t happened and the competition has not only come out with better 360 cams, but taken the market lead away from GoPro. About 7 yrs after buying my GoPro 8 the 2 batteries that came with it failed. They deformed and expanded out of their case. One was in the camera at the time and luckily i was able to get it out before it caused damage. Now 4 yrs after buying GP10, one of the original batteries deformed. Now I stopped using the ones that came with it and have 2 enduro batteries and 3 of the off brand (Telesin) batteries. So my love of GoPro has gone from a high point to ultra low because of the companies lack of quality(overheating, bad batteries, etc), and not keeping up with the competition.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I have 3 batteries for my 8 and they’ve been crap since I got them when it is cold. Have to store the stupid camera in a pocket on the ski lift, etc, and it still sucks.
r/mountainbiking • Better action camera for hard enduro/dh/jump filming? ->Just switched from a GoPro Hero 8 to a DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. The DJI bless the GoPro out is the water like it doesn't even exist. Nothing but problems with the GoPro. Turn it on and it records for 5 seconds then shuts off and won't power back on. Sometimes it won't turn on at all. Only fix is to remove the battery and put it back in. Sucks when you're riding and you think it's recording but it's actually not. Battery life was terrible. 1080/60 was like a little over an hour. Straight garbage. The Osmo by comparison is amazing. It always works. Battery life with 4k/60 is longer than the GoPro was with 1080. The low light on the Osmo is incredible as well compared to the GoPro. Also no overheating issues like the latest GoPros all seem to have. And it was cheaper!
r/motorcycles • What action camera do you ride with and why? ->I have a Cardo as well as a Chinmounts mount that I used with a Hero 8 for years but switched to an Action Pro 5. Zero issues. After a crash where the car driver lied and my GoPro saved my ass I'll never ride without one again
r/motorcycles • What are your thoughts on helmet mounted cameras? ->I just got the DJI Action Pro 5 to replace my old POS GoPro Hero 8 Black and it's awesome. Great footage, great battery life.
r/motorcycles • What camera should I buy to record on a motorcycle? ->I had the second GoPro they released - and then every 2 years I upgraded to the latest model I finished up with a GoPro 8 and 11 sold them both and went to the DJI Action 4 - and then picked up the Action 5 Pro (I like to have 2) I find them better in many ways - but startup time - processing power - battery LIFE are all great upgrades
r/gopro • GoPro Hero 13 vs. DJI Action 5 Pro – Is GoPro Still King for Adventure Filming? ->GoPro created the market and were awesome I have had every other version since the original 1080p version ( the very first model was 720p) I usually had 2 at a time Like the 5 and 8 at the same time Then the 8 and 12 For me the biggest issue was battery life and overheating They just couldn’t seem to fix it And I had the Enduro batteries Finally picked up a DJI Action 4 and wow Great quality video No overheating and the battery life is insane Sold both GoPros and picked up the Action 5 Pro when it was released - the low light quality is great on DJI and it was always known as an issue with GoPro They work great I use all my old GoPro accessories but the addition of the magnetic clip on the DJI is next level convenience
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->A full size Gopro will definitely hold up better against crashes than a o4 unit. Im also assuming OP prefers analog for its latency New gopros like 12 and 13 are better in portrait because they have 8:7 resolution and its best for gyroflow data Dji action 5 has overall slightly better quality but not as good for portrait/gyroflow Gopro 8 apparently has best low light capability
r/fpv • What action cam to buy? ->Wifi connection works on my gopro 8 too =)
r/fpv • What action cam to buy? ->my last gopro was the hero 8. i still have it but its doesn’t work as it constantly loses footage. i now role with the Acepro 2 and the X5. aside from certain accessories not being available for me ever i love the x5. i bought so many lens replacement kits as well as cooling screen protectors that the x5 should be my last 360 cam for awhile
r/Insta360 • This Insta360 X5 is so amazing! ->I got a used GoPro 8 for $150 from Facebook and have it mounted on my ebike which I commute with on an out in front mount (also mounts my light). Battery life isn't great but if you have multiple batteries and swap them out it works. Quality is really good.
r/bikecommuting • Any dashcam (action cameras, purpose-built) recommendations? ->The 7, felt like the biggest leap in practical use features. Then the 8 had to be the awkward transition model that I think ended up as the worst in retrospect.
r/gopro • Which is your favorite GoPro? ->My wife and I have a Gopro 8 and are looking to upgrade for our annv. vacation we are taking to the Redwood Nathional park. Love the current price of the 13 but a lot of if not most reviews point you towards the DJI saying that Gopro is a dying company.
r/gopro • Is the gopro 13 any good? ->I feel like they know they screwed up with a lot of the yearly releases and are correcting it this year. Hero 8 was really good, 9 was garbage, 10 was good, 11 and 12 not great, 13 excellent. A 14 this year would have been crap, next year it should be great.
r/gopro • Get over it, there's no 14 coming this year ->I should add that I do have a GoPro Hero 8 which I used once on an overseas trip for driving footage, but pretty much never again... I found it overheating frequently and having to only record short clips/bursts which was annoying. Battery life lasts about 20 minutes. I think it turned me off action cams and I don't do anything 'action' often enough to warrant one, I think the cinematic style of the pocket 3 may be more meaningful to me than being able to dunk it underwater One thing I was considering is just buying a handheld grip for the Hero 8 and 'pretending it's an Osmo Pocket' but the battery life still turns me off a bit
r/dji • Should I buy an Osmo Pocket 3 now? ->The camera works fine, but there's always people who just love to complain, I have the 8, 10 and 13 all works just fine. I love it. This is more like a Sony vs canon. Both cameras for a professional photographer will have the same thing: manual mode.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->I've had a GoPro Hero 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10, as well as the Max. I've go over 2,000 skydives with GoPros on my helmet, including world records and jumps into the Blue Hole in Belize. I've taken them to every continent (including Antarctica) for running and scuba diving and overall travel. So I use GoPros a lot, and I use them in environments that are pretty tough on them. One thing that's been annoying is the heavy push to GoPro subscription. Their cloud storage is just awful. The money is better spent on something like Dropbox or Box. Their software has been pretty terrible too. Hardware wise, they've been hit or miss. Sometimes it's software, sometimes it's hardware. They can corrupt video files, do a weird "gets hot after charging and locks up so that you have to pull the batteries", they can stop mid recording. All of that with the proper recommended cards. Some have just been lemons, probably a bad solder or heatsink contact. Sometimes it's fixed in a firmware upgrade. They're notorious in the skydiving community. "Did you get it?" "No, it stopped recording 5 seconds in." "It froze up". That kind of thing. Not all the time, not even frequent, but enough that it's annoying. And each model seems to have their own little quirks. My Hero 7 and 10 has been solid for the most part. My 9.. not as much. My Max is a piece of shit. My next 360 camera will absolutely not be a Max, and probably won't be whatever they come out with next. My next action camera probably won't be a GoPro.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->Bingo. I still have my Hero 8 but it is collecting dust. I am now solely using a Instago 3S right now due to the just compact size and weight. I am mostly shooting FPV sports for small segements and I don't even realize I'm wearing it on my hat. I had rigged up my GoPro and it was so heavy and clunky, not enjoyable to wear. If GoPro had a direct competitor to that I would consider.
r/gopro • Why so much Hate for GoPro now? ->A lot of GoPro fanboys here but the truth is that the GoPro was a standard maybe 5-7 years ago. They have done anything innovative since GoPro 9 or 8. Battery life is medicore, overheating issues, stabilization don't work well in low light environments, instead of releasing completely new 360 camera they made a facelift of the old one, terrible phone app, slow and not very useful unlimited cloud storage. It looks like most content creators are switching to other brands but you will say they get paid anyway.
r/gopro • Is GoPro that bad? ->Last go pro I had was an 8. 2 separate batteries. Would always die inside just a couple minutes record time if the temp was under 20 degrees. Like a couple like 5 minutes. Maybe maybe 10 minutes record time on a full charge. This was the second 8 I had because the first one crapped out after a week and they sent a replacement. Never again
r/mountainbiking • Better action camera for hard enduro/dh/jump filming? ->Exactly the same for me. Gops 8 and two batteries that die within minutes in cold weather. I just got an Insta360 Ace 2 Pro or whatever the heck it's called and I love it because the touch screen is actually usable and the battery lasts for hours.
r/mountainbiking • Better action camera for hard enduro/dh/jump filming? ->similar story, I used all gopros from 6 to 12, but switched over to Osmo Action about a year ago and my life just changed. Refreshing to see that action camera can actually be reliable and not crash and overheat all the time, better battery life, faster UI, better quick release system. These are just some of the reasons to switch.
r/gopro • GoPro Hero 13 vs. DJI Action 5 Pro – Is GoPro Still King for Adventure Filming? ->dont give gopro anymore $ till they release an actually good product. insta, and DJI out perform them, and they dont DELETE YOUR FOOTAGE FOR NO REASON
r/motorcycles • Helmet cam: GoPro or DJI? ->i've used action cameras for almost 18 years now? and ive used all the major brands, GoPro more than ANY other. and from the hero -until the 12 black every single one at one point or another simply corrupted/deleted a whole days of videos. I've used DJI cameras from their little cube thing, to teh action 3 (i dont have the latest ones) and ive not lost any video recorded. same with Insta of what ive tested (i cannot speak to the newer 360's or the newer go 3s as ive not had them in hand to test) i will not give GoPro another single $ until they figure out wtf happens where it corrupts/deletes videos. its a useless camera if it cant save a video.
r/motorcycles • Helmet cam: GoPro or DJI? ->Just get a gopro. If you can't afford new, get something second hand. Anything from the 7 black onward should be good.
r/surf • Action camera recommendation ->Get whichever Go Pro is in your price range. Anything Hero 7 and above will have hypersmooth and as long as you’re not running it at max resolution and fps it shouldn’t overheat, especially with a fan or AC on in the car. 30 fps would be my recommendation, and most should be able to handle that at 4K just fine.
r/gopro • Best camera for Beginner for recording POV car driving videos ->Used GoPro camera 7 or higher.
r/scuba • Best dive camera that won’t empty my wallet ->Literally every post now seems to mention low light. I've never had an issue with my GoPros and I've owned every GoPro Black since the 4. Sounds like your sports don't really need low light either, so not sure what the hesitation is. I own a few DJI products as well (drone, mic mini, Osmo mobile) but I'd get a GoPro over the DJI camera for sure.
r/dji • Need help… gopro 13 vs action 5 ->I started out with the DragonTouch 4K action camera and it was good enough. I started filming my games because I had just started playing again after 27 years away from hockey. I made friends with a few goalies I met here on Reddit who were kind enough to mentor me. Eventually, the video quality just wasn't good enough for what I needed. I invested in a gopro hero black, I believe I have the 11 or 12, and bought an aluminum case and suction mount on Amazon. The picture quality is amazing, and it makes filming and posting to youtube much more enjoyable since the footage is really sharp. Crease Quest on YouTube if you want to see the difference in camera quality. My oldest videos were all with the same camera. I tried editing and fiddling with the settings as much as I could, but when I switched to the GoPro it was a complete game changer. My home barn lets me mount the camera high inside the glass, which is why I bought the aluminum case. Other rinks I play at my son has to be behind the glass moving the camera between periods. EDIT: I also mounted a small external battery to the suction mount and have that plugged into the gopro during games so I don't run into any power issues.
r/hockeygoalies • Who is using a camera to record themselves during games, and which model? ->I have the Hero black. Night time footage is good. However, the footage makes it look like you’re farther away from the subject than you actually are. That and it gets hot during extended replay while editing.
r/motorcycle • Helmet cam: GoPro or DJI? ->Many videos shown on YouTube are from the launch periods and are sponsored. Especially the DJI Action 5 was pushed pretty hard in my opinion. But they all make great videos. If you want low light performance I wouldn't go the gopro way. But in good light conditions I'd say the gopro still has the crown. For me the killer features though are 5.3k 8:7 and Gopro Labs which adds features no other action cam even comes close to. Those all help a lot for editing.
r/gopro • why does every comparison video on YT seem like to bashing Go pro 13 ? is it really that far behind the competitors ? ->For me GoPro always had the best mic/audio balance. insta always sounded baseless and sucked at eliminating wind noise as well
r/Cameras • I don't know what vlogging camera to buy ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
