The Insta360 Go3 is probably the best tiny small action camera you can get, there is also another similar camera from DJI but if you are in the US, there is no availability.
There are tons of small action camera sold on Amazon, but video quality wise are quite worse than the GO3, the only positive is the low cost which won't be big deal if it gets lost.
Insta360 Go3 S with a clip mount to your hat brim. Or you may also want to look into the new Oakley Vanguards which seems quite good for your use case (but Meta)
It's not bad, probably with a large FOV could be Better. You use and insta360 Go 2 or 3? You try with the free frame mode? With 1 file you can made a horizontal and vertical versione with a good FOV
I switched long ago after my GoPro had the same SD card error and none of the day's videos were saved. Never again. Since then, I've not lost any footage on Insta360
X3, X5, Go 2, Go 3.
Insta360 have their issues but definitely better than GoPro.
