IMO, overpriced and over-hyped. I always recommend the Run Cam Thumb 2. Just have to power from the stack

Have you had a Thumb 2? Mine works great. Honestly had better luck than with my Gopro Hero 9. The DJI claims the same 4k60FPS at the Thumb 2 so they should be identical in that case.

I like to weigh through everything when picking something like this out, so I'll kind of put them in order of what I feel is most important to me. 1. Quality I use analog to fly, so trying to record through goggles DVR is a no-go for anything presentable. Both cameras are capable of 4k60fps, which is great imo. 2. Weight The DJI Osmo Nano had a built-in battery, whereas the RunCam Thumb 2 has no battery. The Osmo Nano comes in at 52g, whereas the Thumb 2 is 27g. 3. Battery life The Osmo Nano battery claims 200+ mins of action but with any cold weather, that's sure to drop. This also necessitates the time to charge the cam, which isn't a huge deal. However, the Thumb 2, having no internal battery and needing 5v power directly from stack, means that if the drone has power, the cam has power. No forgetting to charge or battery draining when it's cold outside. 4. Price The Osmo Nano comes in two configurations due to the built-in storage. 64gb at $300usd and 128gb at $330usd. Thumb 2 comes in at $115usd. 5. Damage control (what happens if it breaks) With the internal storage and internal battery of the Osmo Nano, in the event of damage, there's realistically no way to retrieve footage if the camera is dead. Even worse, there is a risk of fire if something happens to the internal Li-ion battery. With the Thumb 2, removable SD means that the camera can be destroyed, but as long as the SD card is still good, you'll most likely keep your footage. Having no internal battery means there's virtually zero chance of fire. Hopefully, some of this helps you make an informed decision on choosing your next FPV cam. Just respond with any more questions, and I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

the runcam thumb 2 ftw. the 5 would be to big/heavy for the crux unless you made it naked somehow..

I just got a runcam thumb 2 and the video looks great. It doesn't have its own internal battery, and it's not waterproof. It also has issues with overheating unless it's constantly moving, so I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than small drones. Good luck with your search.

I use the runcam thumb 2 and it's been ok, definitely want to rig it up vertically but I don't have any tpu atm, I've heard the pro is also really good. I like having PWM based controls bound to my controller.

I kinda like the runcam thumb. The pro is definitely better than the 2 though.

I have a thumb 2 on my 3.5”, the weight is 27g. The quality is good but its not as good as what dji records. I think its more of a cam for 3.5” though cause its probably got some compromises for weight https://preview.redd.it/2gt47me67bgg1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11eb62523476b1d2ffc6430e667bedf86b310303

Yeah they’re great for the price. I’ve got a thumb 2 powered by a 1s battery and the only thing I don’t like is how the lens protector breaks really easily, but they cost peanuts

Or by a 1s battery. Or technically any battery with a bec in place. But 1s is simple - just solder a female pigtail to the plug and you’re good to go.
