What about issues with the cameras crashing? I have a GoPro 7 a friend gave me and I do want to upgrade at some point but my biggest issue is with the crashes causing me to lose footage. I've heard is still an issue on the new cameras plus overheating problems. The 7 doesn't overheat luckily but it's annoying resetting it once or twice a day if I'm filming. And I'm using the recommended SD card.
Does this firmware help the older models? I have a go pro 7 that has a crashing problem. Probably once or twice every few hours of filming, usually after you start or stop a video it will crash. I'm using the suggested SD card.
I have a Hero 7 Silver and a Hero 10 Black I bought last weekend. I used the 10 to make a running video yesterday and I can’t believe how much better the stabilization is. It’s an amazing camera so I’d say that’s my favorite.
Go pro usada, de la 7 en adelante
Ever since they added image stabilization with the H7, they've been amazing. Disappointed they didn't give us a 14 yet. But my 13 is amazing. Unfortunately, we're spoiled now. Watching footage from anything prior to the H7 now excruciating.
I've had * Hero 3 White * Hero 4 Silver * Hero 7 Black * Max (1) * Hero 12 Black and I still have all but the 3 white. The 3 white was the only 'bad' one I think, one where the camera really didn't live up to the hype for me and hence I upgraded quite quickly. As for my favourite? In the context of when they came out the 7 felt the most incredible, it really was a big jump with the stabilisation. But I probably shot most of my coolest footage on either the 4 Silver or the Max, just because of the time in my life I was using them and the novelty of 360 footage at the time.
If you're on a budget I think everything past the Hero 7 black has had really usable video as that was the first model with the hypersmooth stabilisation which made a big difference. Definitely improvements have been made but footage from the 7 very much holds up. I would err on the side of getting a full fat "Hero X Black" model and just go older to fit your budget, as these tend to have the better support and reliability and replaceable batteries when some of the budget models have missed out on features like replaceable batteries and front and even sometimes rear screens Absolute lowest end of budget I'd recommend would be hero 4 silver. The rear screen makes such a difference to getting your shots right and it still has all the essential features that make a GoPro what they are. You can pick one up for a fraction of the cost of the top end models (£50 vs £250-350).
Get whichever Go Pro is in your price range. Anything Hero 7 and above will have hypersmooth and as long as you’re not running it at max resolution and fps it shouldn’t overheat, especially with a fan or AC on in the car. 30 fps would be my recommendation, and most should be able to handle that at 4K just fine.
Yup. For an action camera it is really unacceptable. You miss the action if the camera freezes all the time. Had these problems with 7,11 and max. Got rid of them. This was my only problem but it was big.
I use the action 4 with the fov boost lens and I love it, but it's wide even without it. The magnetic attaching and detaching is so good and convenient. The interface is fast and intuitive, the stabilization is great and the battery lasts (I bought the base version with 1 battery, with my hero 7 I always had to bring 2 extras with me) My friend has the 12, and the videos are too crisp and colorful for my liking. It has a good stock fov tho.
A GoPro 7 or 8 then. I don't recommend less know action cameras brands like Akaso, not terrible but not great either. Sound quality is really bad and the image stabilization performance is inferior compared to the GoPro or the DJI Action cameras.
For me GoPro always had the best mic/audio balance. insta always sounded baseless and sucked at eliminating wind noise as well
