Breville - Smart Oven Air Fryer Compact BOV680

Breville, costly but it works so well. Replaced a cuisinart x2. Big but worth it. Can cook two layers at the same time.

Breville counter top. Love mine, I haven’t used my oven since I got it. We keep the house very cool and the proof setting for bread is a game changer. Roasted veggies awesome

This is the answer. My breville has over taken my oven. Unless I'm roasting a Turkey there isn't much that I do in the oven any more.

Our air fryer is also a toaster oven (Breville). I’ve never looked into the paper liners and have been using parchment paper. Now I’m wondering if there’s a better option. We mostly use the air fry function for green beans, samosas and chicken nuggets. Otherwise it functions as a toaster and extra oven.

I absolutely adore my Breville Smart. It has replaced my oven. However, I do use the basket style air fryers for air frying. Far superior results for actual air frying. The Breville can do a good job of air frying, but because you have to protect the elements the heat can’t get to the food properly. If you don’t put something underneath a drippy food it’s a really bad scene.

Breville for sure. We’ve had ours for about 6 weeks and love it!

I have a Breville smartoven with air-fry function.  It gets 90% of the air frying results, but can do far more other things, like bake, roast, dehydrate, broil...

BREVILLE.  Outside of our knives, it is the most used tool in my kitchen.  Big enough for a full pan of lasagna.  Preheats WAY faster than the big oven.  

I have the brass one in white, it is so beautiful and functional. Unfortunately, it does not fit the 5.5qt Dutch oven and the 3.5qt braiser.

Is this the Breville Smart Oven? I have that and I have constant smoking issues while using the air fry function. Even using foil, still smokes like a chimney. Love it otherwise, especially for the reheat setting. Almost makes the microwave obsolete.

This has been my experience as well; I got the Breville in large part because my apartment oven is horrible, and I use it for all baking/roasting. But for anyone who wants something to be crisp, I'd especially recommend the Ninja Crispi. Soggy limp leftover fries come out every bit as good as when they were fresh.

Since you mentioned how hot it gets on the outside, I thought I would share my experience. We've used a breville toaster oven forever, and since it even fits a pie, we almost never use the actual oven anymore. A friend let us borrow a spare instant vortex air fryer and we loved it, so we thought we would try an air fryer toaster oven so we could still just have one appliance. It did not do nearly as good a job at "air frying", but the big issue was that it absolutely radiated heat because there seems to be no insulation in there at all, to where it actually heated up the kitchen more than the full size oven does. We returned it, kept our toaster oven, and just added an air fryer to our repertoire. 🤷‍♂️

Is there a reason you’re looking for a basket style? We consolidated a lot of our kitchen appliances and in that process, we got rid of our super old/tiny toaster oven and got a Breville toaster oven that also functions as an air fryer. It is bigger than a basket style, but we saved counter space by not needing to buy a basket style and getting rid of the toaster oven. It’s all metal and it is quite roomy. We use it more often than our regular oven.

I have this too but isn’t the interior non-stick though. I contacted Breville and said the interior is non-stick.

Definitely a good quality toaster oven/air fryer. I have Breville one that I now use more than my actual oven. I can cook pretty much everything in it. It does great with air frying as well. I even bake pies in it.

I second the Breville counter top air fryer also. Large knob’s and easy to use

I went from a corsori air fryer to the breville oven style and the corsori was definitely faster if that matters to you. Otherwise it doesnt really matter and I like the extra features (toaster) of the breville. Both are fairly easy to clean.

I have a breville smart oven which has an air fry capability. It’s not as good as my cheap dedicated air fryer. I think it’s too big and the air doesn’t circulate as fast.

I bought the breville air fryer toaster oven in June for my husband (Father’s Day) and it’s been used nearly every day since we opened it. Worth every penny.

The toaster-oven style air fryer is the way to go. It is a little slower for air frying and toasting compared to dedicated devices but does both well. Especially ones like the Breville with a good capacity and nifty presets. As an oven it does smaller jobs (heat and serve, take and bake rolls, side dishes) better because it will preheat quickly and turn off on a timer while the main meal is in the big oven.

So we got a Breville for our wedding in 2014, and last year we replaced it with a new Breville that has an air fryer feature, which basically just means there's a strong convection fan in there. It actually doesn't work *that* well as an air fryer since you can't put anything in the basket that will drip, so when I use it, it's basically just the regular tray covered in foil with a rack on top to let the air circulate a bit. But I do like the oven, and between me and my wife, we probably use it every day, sometimes multiple times. A few months ago, I used the oven at something like 140°F with the fan on; I put the tray in sideways so the door wouldn't close, and I used the oven as a dehydrator to make this fancy Chinese banquet dish that took, like, 2 days to prepare. It was very successful! At dehydrating, I mean. The dish itself was... not that good. I guess I'm not a Chinese banquet chef. Anyway, if you're just using it to toast bread and to warm stuff up, you don't need the fancy features of the Breville Pro. I don't know anything about the production, since I bought mine last year before all this BS. It's also fairly uneven at toasting; the part near the door toasts less than the part in the back. I'd say get a cheap one unless you need those features. But my last Breville lasted 10 years and was still working fine when we replaced it, so if you're worried about longevity, you might as well get that one.

Bummer. I have countertop Breville Smart Air and was hoping to be able to get rid of it with the convention oven also. I bought a Breville toaster oven that is also an air fryer and love it. It even comes with a proofing option for bread. A+

If you have the space I love my Breville air fryer/oven combo I joke that if we ever had an emergency evacuation I would grab that over the kids🤣 It’s nice bc you can do big basket/trays of food. Also it cooks a whole roaster chicken extremely nicely If you regularly cook this can easily replace 3 appliances…

My old Breville lasted 10-11 years, I got the new one 3 years ago with the air fryer option … if it breaks tomorrow I would figure out how to get it again - I seriously love it.

I’ve loved the breville air fryer/oven combo. Toast perfectly bagels vs waffles/toast. And you can fit a whole roaster chicken extremely- it keeps it extremely juicy

2nd this suggestion. Loved mine so much I bought one for my parents because it's so convenient 

We currently have a Breville countertop oven that we inherited from a relative. It's a great appliance, had it 4+ years now with no problems and it does a bunch of stuff besides air frying, but it's also pretty expensive. Before that we were happy with our Power XL oven-style air fryer. I always advise people to get the air fryers with shelves rather than with baskets because they are more versatile and easier to load and clean.

I prefer a toaster oven/air fryer combo. Many have a nonstick lining on the machine itself, but the tray that touches your food is usually stainless steel. Plus my kitchen isn't big enough for too many single-use appliances. I adored my Cuisinart toaster oven/air fryer but it only lasted about 4 years. I've switched to the breville which is more expensive but seems to be holding up better.

Second this. Ours is a staple in the kitchen. We haven’t used our actual oven since we’ve gotten the Breville.

I had a toaster oven style (Breville) and it was terrible as an air fryer. Just get a real air fryer. The Breville was just not a good and stuff dripped from it so clean up was always terrible. Just a real pain to deal with. The basket is so much easier and so much more effective.

I have one of these and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. However, as an air fryer, it performs mediocre. Dedicated air fryers yield better results as far as making things like chicken wings crispy and tasting like they were deep fried. As a counter top convection oven it kicks ass. Heats up fast and bakes and broils just as good as my fancy built in ovens.

I’m a big fan of the Breville convection oven. I use it multiple times a day for everything. Don’t need a separate toaster or air fryer with that thing.

My parents had the cuisinart & hated it & had so many issues. Got the breville all good.

Best purchase in my kitchen by far.
