I recommend the original Gourmia model (ours is over 3 years old) and originally sold for $39.99 with a coupon. They sell the newer ones with a window in the drawer, for around $49.99 with a coupon. Even better though -- the Ninja Crispy Glass Air Fryer is currently $99 with the $40 off coupon. I might upgrade to that when my Gourmia conks out!
My advice would be to get the largest basket-style air fryer you can find counter space for. I’ve heard nothing but complaints about the “toaster oven style”, and the bigger the basket, the more room you have for airflow between food. I’ve got the 6qt Gourmia from Costco and it’s been great.
I just got my first air fryer after wanting one for years. I decided on the Gourmia 6qt that was on sale at Walmart for 59.99. Absolutely love it and have used it every day except one since getting it this month.
I mostly agree. It depends a little bit on intended use. My friend has the "toaster oven" style and she likes it quite well. But she mainly uses it for toast and sometimes fish sticks. I have a six quart Gourma basket style and for my use I prefer what I have to what she has. I agree with at least 6 quart. I live alone and it still is not too big. Big enough for most things I need it for but hardly overkill. Being able to remove the basket to wash it is a big plus IMO. My friend can remove the bottom catch tray and rack, but when you pull out a basket you have the bottom and sides - everything but the top. Easy to drain / wipe out any oil and then wash it in the sink. It also heats up pretty quickly. But if I was doing lots of "spread out" type cooking - French fries, fish sticks, things you would put on a baking sheet in a conventional oven - then I'd probably prefer the toaster oven style.
We have the OG version of this and still happy with the purchase. I think we had scored at $30 but I could be wrong
I have the last model that doesn't have a glass door on sale for $40. I like it a lot.
I have the Gourmia air fryer that is a basket (not window) and it's fantastic. I use it almost daily for a few years now.
I bought two of the original $40 basket ones 4 years ago. Both work and look like new.
I used to have the Cusinart one from Costco (older model with more knobs), and it was good at toasting and being an oven, but barely average at being an air fryer. Had to replace it once right at the 2 year warranty mark since the knobs went bad, and then again about 18 months after. I have the Gourmia basket one now, and it's solid as an air fryer, decent as an oven, but pretty hard to get toasting done right. What do you need as the the primary usage? If it's primarily air frying, keep going for the basket. If you need it for multi-purpose with toasting, etc. get a non-basket.
I like the Gourmia basket from Costco.
Single basket gourmia from Costco. Cheap and spacious.
