I was looking at this one too, the design really looks ideal, but the heat comes from behind, which I didn't like. Fist off is to ask yourself if you really require dual basket or not. If not I'd suggest a 6qt basket design like the Instant Pot Vortex 6qt with Odor Ease, this is hands down the best designed, most feature packed air fryer right now at that size and price point. They have a dual basket model as well. If you prefer a ceramic fryer, check out the Corsori TurboBlaze. It lacks some features compared to the Vortex, but is also excellent. I have tried Ninja air fryers before and was not impressed with the features and build quality.
Just bought this to replace my Instant Vortex. I was looking for a ceramic basket fryer and this looked to be the best one I found, especially for the price. I haven't used it enough yet to really evaluate, but so far it seems great, and also looks good on my countertop. It's very compact for it's capacity.
I few things I miss from my Vortex is the shake/flip alert, which is such an easy thing to include that I don't know why all fryers don't have this. The other thing I miss from my vortex is the knob, which makes it so much faster to dial in the temp/time. I'm still debating whether I miss the window or not. It's sometimes useful, but not sure if it's really a crucial feature. But otherwise it's a great air fryer.
I'm on my 3rd AF. My first was an Instant Pot 6QT VORTEX Plus and the 2nd was an Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6QT ClearCook Air Fryer, Clear Windows. The 1st one was OK. I really didn't care for the one with clear windows. It just didn't seem to get as hot as the 1st one. I now have a Cosori Air Fryer Pro, Compact 5QT, Ceramic Coating. It gets up to 450ºF unlike the first 2 which maxed out at 400ºF.
BTW I don't use the presets. I just set the temp and time myself.
Some personal feedback on this as I spent the last week picking an air fryer. Size of the fryer was a big factor in our search.
First I bought the Ninja Pro XL 6 in 1. I liked that it would get to 450 degrees. We ended up returning it because it was so loud it sounded like a plane taking off.
Second we got the Instant Pot, due to the positive online and Americas Test Kitchen reviews from a few years ago. We got the updated version with the window. That one got returned because one, it smelled absolutely awful when heated. Second, the bottom plate would pop up and sit at an angle as soon as it started to warm up. This is a safety issue because it would fly out when trying to dump out hot food. After looking back at the "positive" reviews, I realized they are almost all incentivized.
Third and final one we got is the Ninja Foodi 8qt two basket fryer. So far so good. It's still kind of noisy, but it's tolerable. The dual basket is a nice option. Also even though it's dual, the dimensions are still surprisingly compact. It's slightly wider than a single basket model, but it wasn't any deeper.
We also considered a Midea because Sam's has some, but they are huge.
I purchased the same Vortex Plus with front window from a thrift store with the "Close Basket" error. The only solution for me was to open the unit and replace the micro switch. When you close the door, a cone shaped extension, visible on the top front center housing, gets pushed up to the micro switch. If the micro switch is faulty, you'll always get the "Close Basket" error. This used unit has been working for close to 2 years.
