I have an older version of this and I love it
Can confirm this is the one (updated 11/24). Also, As mentioned elsewhere the clear cook odorerase version. is the upgrade pick
It ultimately depends on you and what you like to cook. I use mine almost daily. I bake/roast chicken quarters or drumsticks in 45 minutes, half the time the oven would take, and my salmon filets always come out just right (nine minutes), asparagus, (7 minutes) and so on, all without heating up the kitchen. It's killer for reheating pizza or anything that would just get soggy in the microwave. It's smaller, so you're not going to make large batches of stuff or have leftovers. It's quick & easy meal prep for 1 or 2 people. I typically do chicken or fish in it while the sides cook, or if the entree is cooking elsewhere, then I'll use it for a veggie side. If you do get one, get a [basket model](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VHFMZHJ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1), not the rotisserie or oven style. The basket ones do a measurably better job.
The instant pot vortex one is quite on sale right now and works well. I would also get a small microwave if you do lots of little things that require that.
Instant vortex plus 6qt has worked amazing for us! We’ve had it for about 2 years now with no issues at all.
I don’t know about a dream but we use the hell out of it for wings, salmon and fried Twinkie’s and it has never let us down.
1. For basket fryers cleaning the basket is going to be the same everywhere. Remove the grill and clean both separately. The only difference is whether the basket/grill are non-stick or dishwasher safe. 2. Parchment paper defeats air flow and therefore the purpose of an air fryer. In addition for foods which give off a lot of fat, such as chicken legs, the food would be lying in a pool of fat on the parchment paper. You want the fat to drain in order to crisp the food. 3. Top reviewed is Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6QT. Not the most robust unit out there. Support and parts can be problematic. The unit will likely last as long as the non-stick coating does. Non-stick coatings or all cookware has a limited life.
There have been many posts searching for a "non-toxic" air fryer. Don't really understand it. I am extremely chemically sensitive but I have absolutely no problem with teflon coatings. Haven't seen any posts about health issues with teflon with their air fryer other than the obvious ones such as the coating failing. Top reviewed fryer is the Instant Pot Vortex Plus 6QT. It is relatively cheaply made so the LCD display is failing but I can still use it. Double baskets have limitations. The Breville oven style is a high quality expensive product but not as good at air frying.
I have it and the basket is falling apart. I use the heck out of it. Love it other than I wish the basket held up better.
If this is the model recommended by America’s Test Kitchen, I concur 100%. It’s an absolute dream.
We have the instant Vortex plus 6qt air fryer. It’s not small, but not huge either. The basket is roughly the size of a whole chicken. (A sam’s rotisserie often gets reheated in mine) I use it to reheat leftovers, and to make most foods from scratch. It doesn’t make the kitchen hot.
I have this one and have nothing but good things to say about it
