Pay more. Get a Ninja Foodi OS301 or similar. Pressure cooking + air fryer combo is infinitely more useful and gives much better results than a basket fryer
Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 PRO 6.5 Qt Pressure Cooker w/ TenderCrisp Technology, Air Fryer and slow cooker. You can make darn near anything in it.
Yes! I bought the Ninja® Foodi® 10-in-1 6.5-Quart Pro Pressure Cooker Air Fryer Multicooker, etc. It has ten different functions and can do so many things. I can use it as a crock pot, sous vide, instapot, pressure cooker, I can brown foods in it before I do the crock pot or pressure cooker function. It saves on electricity and it doesn't put off any heat. I'm prefer to cook with it anytime of the year, but especially in the summertime.
We replaced the original inner pot with a stainless steel pot. It works great for us.
We use a stainless steel basket as well.
We have model, I believe: Ninja® Foodi® 10-in-1 6.5-Quart Pro Pressure Cooker Air Fryer
You can buy an airfryer that also has a normal baking option. I have Ninja 10 in 1 and you can also cook rice in it and it’s a slow cooker as well. Microwave is nice but you can always heat up leftovers on the stove and in case of pizza it’s actually better heated up in the airfryer.
What exactly can be unhealthy about cooking in the airfryer? Are they scared of the microwave as well lol? I have Ninja 10 in 1 multicooker that I bought on sale and it’s fantastic, I can air fry, bake, steam bake, slow cook, dehydrate and it has a couple of other functions too but mostly similar to what I mentioned. I don’t use it often but if I want to quickly roast something it gets the job done (and it doesn’t heat up the kitchen, baked bread in the oven today and fire alarm went off lol). I even baked bread it in once but admittedly the crust didn’t came out very crispy although bread was baked. Made soup even although it’s not intended for it. But if you have a big family oven is better or you would have to buy a huge air fryer.
Still got our oven and use it for bigger things, like roast chicken etc, but have a Ninja too and it's the best thing we've ever brought. It gets used daily for all sorts. Pressure cooking a joint of meat and then finishing it off on air fry is my current thing.
It does pork well I find, although you sometimes have to cut larger joints in half to fit. We put it on the wire rack with a pint of hot stock underneath with garlic, herbs and whatever aromatic goodies you might like for taste and pressure cook it on high for 40 mins or so. Then pour out the stock and save it for gravy if you like and swap the lids. Then air fry for 10-20 mins to crisp the fat. Sometimes we cut the fat off before cooking and save it in the fridge overnight, cut into cubes, with salt, we then air fry this into tasty pork scratchings. Beef works well too. The only limit is making sure the lid will close.
I think we have the ninja foodie 10 in 1 oven thing and we've only used our real oven like twice since we got it and that was entirely because the pizza was too big. There's something great about being like "yes, cook my burrito at 400 for 29 minutes and then shut off" that makes it so useful. Well setup food and not worry at all about it being done because it always is. There's even a thermometer and a setting system to get the internal temp to a preferred temp. "Is that chicken juicy or raw? Turns out it's juicy since internal temp hit 180." Sometimes I'll add things in stages so the veggies don't cook as long as the meat or something. We also went out and got random metal trays from a thrift store so we can load small portions separately. But really being able to setup the oven and just let the timer handle it is the bees knees. The one single con is just because a roast or bird CAN fit doesn't mean it SHOULD fit. If the fan is running and fatty meat is too close to the element you can get smoke from the fat. Which could also happen in a regular oven, it's just more noticeable in an air fryer oven. So only a small family roast, no holiday roasts or turkeys.
My foodi tendercrisp is 8 years old and I use it several times a week as more than just an air fryer. Convection ovens with air fry modes are very lackluster.
I also do not like one job kitchen appliances. I have the ninja foodi, which is a pressure cooker, slow cooker and air fryer all in one. I use it almost daily!!! Steaks, veggies, rice, pot roast, recipe book says I can even make yogurt and cakes/breads in there that I haven’t done that. I basically only use the oven for large items now
I have the ninja foodie and it’s a 10 in 1. Bake, air fry and toast and pressure cook are the main functions I use. I just started to use the dehydrator, kinda neat
After reading your post, I wouldn't get a standard air fryer. I also have a tiny kitchen and since I don't air fry every day, it was mostly in the way. However...I did get a Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 which is a bit larger buuut I use it almost daily, especially in the summer, for preparing some aspect of our meals, if not a complete meal. It's not always faster at cooking say French fries, but it preheats faster and contains the heat. Whereas my stove, oven, and previously owned countertop convection toaster oven that was also not used enough and therefore in the way, both radiate so much heat into the space which is great in winter but so extra costly in the summer. That said, I use my Ninja Foodi happily in the winter too when it doesn't make sense to use the oven due to portion size. I have slow cooked with it but prefer to use the pressure cooker in most cases. I also braise, broil, boil, roast, pan fry, air fry, and you could make rice with it but I would be a failed Asian if I didn't have a proper several hundred dollar rice cooker with all the bells and whistles. The only feature I have not used because I haven't taken the time to get myself educated about how to go forward is the sous vide function. I hear it takes a long time so it's not of particular interest to me at this time. I've had ours for almost a year and a half now. I fucken love it.
