Not quite the same, but I have switched from a Ninja AG651 to an AF451. One downside is definitely that I can't fit a large casserolle in ther anymore, but that's the only downside as well. The drawer-style is way quieter. Allows me to make crispy stuff alongside veggies which before just didn't crisp up properly. It does not require preheating. I have less space width-wise, but way more space to the top which makes bigger pieces of meat possible (for example one whole chicken, which before only worked spatchcocked). If I only have use one drawer the power-consumption is obviously less. Cleaning is way easier. Also the thermal probe is way better than my previous one.
r/airfryer • Anyone changed up from Actifry Genius XL 2 in 1? How was it? Is/was it worth it? ->I have not done a whole chicken yet in the AF451, only chicken legs so far, but testing with that the temperature probe was definitely more accurate than the one from the AG651. The spatchcocked chicken in the AG651 took about 40 minutes I think at 180°C, but I am actually not entirely sure. That's the neat thing with the thermal probe, as you just have to set the temperature and use the preset for chicken and it will just turn itself off once it's done. Spatchcocked normally is a bit faster, so a whole chicken in the AF451 will probably take a bit longer.
r/airfryer • Anyone changed up from Actifry Genius XL 2 in 1? How was it? Is/was it worth it? ->I have the ninja xl grill and it cooks wings perfectly.
r/Wings • Should I get an Air Fryer or an Oven for cooking wings? ->We have a Ninja Foodi Grill XL which is also an air fryer. It gets used all the time, and we clean if after every use. I like that it has multiple functions in addition to air fryer.
r/glutenfree • Air fryer must have? ->I have the Ninja XL Grill. The larger basket and grill functions make it useful for meals for 2-4 people. In the USA most people don't have convection ovens, and an air fryer is a small convection oven. It heats up fast, and doesn't heat up the house like a full size oven. The grill pan makes it a good indoor grilling option. Steak, sausage, chicken, fish, does a good job on all of them. There are many foods which are especially good in the air fryer, and faster than other methods. Frozen convenience foods like tater tots, chicken nuggets, shrimp, fish sticks, any frozen appetizers, etc. All get crispy and cook faster than a regular oven. Roast vegetables. It's one of its best features. Reheat pizza and fried foods. Grilled cheese sandwiches. Pretty much hands off and quick. The small ones will be too small for more than two people. They do take up space. But they are a great convenience tool for what they do well.
r/Cooking • Do you have an air fryer? Should I get one? ->I've seen the dual zone ones recommended before. Personally, it either cuts the usable area down so you can't do large things, or it makes the air fryer too big. Our air fryer recently died and needed to be replaced. We don't have as many of the name brand options where I live but ninja is available. Picked up the foodi grill because it looked convenient to use and it is head and shoulders above the old drawer basket style we had. It preheats faster, seems to circulate the air a bit better so things are crispier and it's so much easier to load things in and take things out. The grill plate works pretty well too. I'm not a huge ninja fan, but this air fryer makes me willing to at least consider the ninja brand for other things. There aren't too many occasions that we would need two different things cooked in the air fryer. Either it is being used for the protein, in which case the sides are getting cooked on the stove, or I'm using it for a side in which case the main is cooked on the stove. Or I'm reheating some leftovers and nothing else is getting cooked.
r/airfryer • Why do you guys prefer dual air fyers? ->I have a ninja foodie grill with an aircrisp feature and there is definitely a preheat function. Maybe it's just a ninja thing.
r/airfryer • How to dry potatoes for fries? ->Thank you. I don't know anyone else who has a ninja but is it only me that's aggravated when I have to clean it after grilling? All my marinade gets stuck. I see everyone using parchment paper on Instagram but I don't think we can use that in the ninja. Ugh
r/airfryer • How to dry potatoes for fries? ->I've been soaking it with the dawn powerwash spray because I am lazy but I am worried it's going to ruin the coating. I wish we could use the paper but there's no way. Our ninja machines are so different than the other air fryers. I like making the boneless skinless thighs in the marinade that includes Greek yogurt, but I find the yogurt is the worst with getting burned and stuck.
r/airfryer • How to dry potatoes for fries? ->I don't know if it's bifl, but when it comes to air fryers I've learned that ninja is the only way to go. Specifically the ninja foodi with the "grill" setting.
r/BuyItForLife • Does anyone have a fritaire air fryer? Or a different recommendation? ->My foodi is all metal. The easiest to clean of any air fryer I've used too. Throw it all in the dishwasher haha
r/BuyItForLife • Does anyone have a fritaire air fryer? Or a different recommendation? ->Specifically the ninja foodi. No Teflon.
r/BuyItForLife • Does anyone have a fritaire air fryer? Or a different recommendation? ->It's a square 18"x18" and about a foot tall. It's not huge but it's not tiny either. Perfect for 2, troublesome for 3.
r/BuyItForLife • Does anyone have a fritaire air fryer? Or a different recommendation? ->Still works like new!
r/BuyItForLife • Does anyone have a fritaire air fryer? Or a different recommendation? ->I second Ninja. I use my Ninja Foodi XL almost everyday. I’m almost ashamed. Feels like such a cheat to cooking haha! Gifted it to multiple relatives and they love it too.
r/rant • Every single air fryer recipe is a fucking lie ->A word of caution on Ninja, we have a foodie xl and after 2 years needs replacement parts (grill, pan, and basket). The cost to replace these parts is nearly equal to buying a new unit.
r/BuyItForLife • I am looking for a BIFL air fryer. Budget is $500 or less. What are some of your most recommendable suggestions? ->I've had all kinds of air fryers including the Ninja Foodi Xl, Breville, Gourmia, and other cheap basket air fryers. The best one I've used so far is the Typhur Dome (currently on sale USD300 on Amazon.com). It produces the best results but its basket height limit of just over 2" is the biggest drawback. Otherwise it's very quiet, easy to clean and has been very reliable.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Air Fryers on the Market to Buy Now? ->I can second this. I upgraded to a ninja foodi XL about 2 years ago, and its used literally 5-6 times a day by the household.
r/Costco • Air fryer recommendations ->Ninja foodie xl. Just because u have a small air fryer doesn't mean they all are.
r/Cooking • The air fryer isn't cutting it for me—what should I get instead? ->Concur on ninja x in 1s. Toasts, air fries, bakes - the other "features" are kind of superfluous but the effect is the same. Also, mine folds up to the wall so it takes up a lot less counter space when not in use
r/Frugal • Looking for recommendations - toaster oven air fryer combo ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
