Ninja - Foodi XL Smart 6-in-1 Indoor Grill

Absolutely I have Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill and we use it nearly everyday day you can grill chicken with nice charr in about 15 minutes or less I make it for salads, chicken teriyaki, for chipotle style burritos, you can definitely make steak, french fries come out just like they’ve been deep-fried you can toast sandwiches literally everything bagels use it like a toaster over makes great grilled cheeses reheats food very well.

I have the ninja XL smart grill. It does a lot and it is the easiest air fryer for the kids to use too. I've made just about everything in it from steaks to flatbreads. It's a footprint but instead of warming up the big oven for / whatever / I can just bake, grill or air fry. Edit: often in a fraction of the time.

I have the ninja xl grill and it cooks wings perfectly.

We have a Ninja Foodi Grill XL which is also an air fryer. It gets used all the time, and we clean if after every use. I like that it has multiple functions in addition to air fryer.

I have the Ninja XL Grill. The larger basket and grill functions make it useful for meals for 2-4 people. In the USA most people don't have convection ovens, and an air fryer is a small convection oven. It heats up fast, and doesn't heat up the house like a full size oven. The grill pan makes it a good indoor grilling option. Steak, sausage, chicken, fish, does a good job on all of them. There are many foods which are especially good in the air fryer, and faster than other methods. Frozen convenience foods like tater tots, chicken nuggets, shrimp, fish sticks, any frozen appetizers, etc. All get crispy and cook faster than a regular oven. Roast vegetables. It's one of its best features. Reheat pizza and fried foods. Grilled cheese sandwiches. Pretty much hands off and quick. The small ones will be too small for more than two people. They do take up space. But they are a great convenience tool for what they do well.

Ninja foodie grill XL- we cook steak, chicken, fish, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, pizza, flatbread, baked potatoes after I microwave I throw in there to crisp the skin. Tacos, put your cooked meat and cheese inside a tortilla and air fry a bit makes them nice and crispy, same with nachos. Heat up anything- baked ribs in the oven yesterday, so tonight I put sauce on them and left them on tinfoil and baked in air fryer till warm. It’s our everyday use appliance.

I've seen the dual zone ones recommended before. Personally, it either cuts the usable area down so you can't do large things, or it makes the air fryer too big. Our air fryer recently died and needed to be replaced. We don't have as many of the name brand options where I live but ninja is available. Picked up the foodi grill because it looked convenient to use and it is head and shoulders above the old drawer basket style we had. It preheats faster, seems to circulate the air a bit better so things are crispier and it's so much easier to load things in and take things out. The grill plate works pretty well too. I'm not a huge ninja fan, but this air fryer makes me willing to at least consider the ninja brand for other things. There aren't too many occasions that we would need two different things cooked in the air fryer. Either it is being used for the protein, in which case the sides are getting cooked on the stove, or I'm using it for a side in which case the main is cooked on the stove. Or I'm reheating some leftovers and nothing else is getting cooked.

I have a ninja foodie grill with an aircrisp feature and there is definitely a preheat function. Maybe it's just a ninja thing.

Thank you. I don't know anyone else who has a ninja but is it only me that's aggravated when I have to clean it after grilling? All my marinade gets stuck. I see everyone using parchment paper on Instagram but I don't think we can use that in the ninja. Ugh

I've been soaking it with the dawn powerwash spray because I am lazy but I am worried it's going to ruin the coating. I wish we could use the paper but there's no way. Our ninja machines are so different than the other air fryers. I like making the boneless skinless thighs in the marinade that includes Greek yogurt, but I find the yogurt is the worst with getting burned and stuck.

I don't know if it's bifl, but when it comes to air fryers I've learned that ninja is the only way to go. Specifically the ninja foodi with the "grill" setting.

My foodi is all metal. The easiest to clean of any air fryer I've used too. Throw it all in the dishwasher haha

It's a square 18"x18" and about a foot tall. It's not huge but it's not tiny either. Perfect for 2, troublesome for 3.

Still works like new!

I second Ninja. I use my Ninja Foodi XL almost everyday. I’m almost ashamed. Feels like such a cheat to cooking haha! Gifted it to multiple relatives and they love it too.

A word of caution on Ninja, we have a foodie xl and after 2 years needs replacement parts (grill, pan, and basket). The cost to replace these parts is nearly equal to buying a new unit.

I've had all kinds of air fryers including the Ninja Foodi Xl, Breville, Gourmia, and other cheap basket air fryers. The best one I've used so far is the Typhur Dome (currently on sale USD300 on Amazon.com). It produces the best results but its basket height limit of just over 2" is the biggest drawback. Otherwise it's very quiet, easy to clean and has been very reliable.

I can second this. I upgraded to a ninja foodi XL about 2 years ago, and its used literally 5-6 times a day by the household.

Ninja foodie xl. Just because u have a small air fryer doesn't mean they all are.

I have a different ninja with a built in thermometer and I'd recommend a separate one anyway. It's not that accurate

I actually just got a separate thermometer so I'm not sure yet but the separate one actually tells you the temperature. The ninja one you just set it to rare, medium,ect and I find it over cooks. I'd rather just see the actual temperature.

Honestly if you are comparing between a toaster oven and an air fryer I would get w/e is cheaper and takes up less space. I would maybe look into one of those ninja foodi 6-1 (or w/e brand is available) were you can also saute and slow cook so you have more breadth. In the grand scheme of things they are gonna cook things more or less the same when it comes to the baking/broil/air fry

I have two Ninja air fryers that don’t have teflon. A Foodi and Foodi 6 in 1 (it toasts, air fries, etc).

We recently upgraded to one with two baskets and I think it is a game changer. If we were going to cook meat and veggies we would either have to do one after the other or do one in the oven. This way we can do both at once. It also has a feature so if they have two separate cook times, you can hit go and it will wait to start the other basket so they finish at the same time. I have seen some with one big basket and dividers and that would be kind of nice if you had a larger thing to cook. I think we have the Ninja Foodi 6 in 1. Forget if it’s the 8 or 10 quart. Also I would WAIT FOR BLACK FRIDAY DEALS. I feel like there are always so many air fryers on Black Friday. I think we got ours like half off at Target but not 100% sure.

Oh really? I figured there would be more in America but thought it had spread. I guess it also sort of centers around our thanksgiving holiday. Either way sale or not they’re worth it. My gf got one years ago and I thought it was some dumb tik tok fas she was buying into but we honestly use ours like every other day. Can get a nice crisp on things, don’t have to wait for it to preheat, and it’s very nice in the summer (especially if you don’t have AC which I know a lot of Europe does not) because you can cook without heating up your whole house/apartment from the oven! Two baskets isn’t necessary but I do think it’s worth paying extra for so you can do meat and veggies at the same time. Some have all these 6 in 1 or 7 in 1 but that’s mostly just marketing. It has settings that will change the temp ranges but will also change the Dan speed but I don’t think that is critical. Either way we like the one we have for sure! My roommates and I recently went with the Ninja 6-in-1 since we cook together a lot and it's been great. I'm a sucker for a simple UX/not overcomplicating things when it comes to kitchen stuff and it seemed like one of the better options on that front. Also have a ninja blender so I know they make decent stuff. Would recommend to just go with the one that fits your intended use. You don't want to get a big bulky one that will stick out on your counter if you don't need to.

That’s what I’m looking at, same model but bigger. How long have you had it? Do you like it? I also have ninja foodie with air fryer function and I am assuming the basket for air fryer is also non stick and we have used it forever with birds around and it was fine… but that thing is so bulky and sits in the cabinet below the counter, I want to keep keep one on the counter….I’m still nervous!
