I have a powerxl vortex, and yes! It will change your life. Got my first one a few years ago for Christmas, and I made everything possible in it. Mine is really small, and perfect for 1 or 2 people. I use it to make steak, chicken, pork chops, salmon, shrimp, fajitas, potatoes, bacon, sausage... You can even make little quiche cups in it. Almost everything I use it for is 10 minutes or less, and I can't believe I made it to my 40's before ever trying one. I don't have an oven either, I use a 2 burner induction cooktop, but I do have a toaster oven. My kitchen is quite modular. No large appliances, but when you learn to cook with the smaller ones, one or 2 at a time, it makes everything so much quicker and easier.

Tonight I used only my air fryer then toaster oven for keeping warm. Potato wedges tossed with a little olive oil and onion soup mix, 400 degrees for 15 minutes (potatoes are the one thing I make over 10 minutes), then transferred them to toaster oven just to keep warm, then burger patties at 400 for 4 minutes, pulled them out to put on cheese then slide it back in(not all the way, just to keep in the heat to melt) while I grabbed the buns and condiments. Without the potatoes, this one is easily under 10 minutes. But my bf loves his potatoes(I prefer salad) anyway, you can definitely make it work for you in small space and small time frames. That being said, the bigger air fryers totally go about twice the time(still great, just letting you know so you don't get blindsided). I had to play with all the recipes I found online at first because I think most were geared towards larger ones, and at the time, I didn't know I had a really small one compared to most of the market, but I wouldn't trade my little one for anything. It's perfect for just the 2 of us. Edit: btw, toaster oven not essential here either, you can easily put potatoes under foil to keep warm while you finish your protein if you don't have one. Good luck!

r/cookwareAny "non-toxic" airfryers?

Since 2020, I've been using my trusty old PowerXL airfryer. It still works pretty well if you hit it a little but I think the interior is made from plastic and the tray inside is rusting. I've tried buying a "non-toxic" airfryer from Emeril which was stainless steel. When I cooked something, the food tasted chemically and there was also an awful smell coming from it. I went back to old-reliable XL... I saw Ninja Crispi Glass Airfryer selling at Costco. Is this one any good? Also, any other recommendations for "non-toxic" airfryers?

This is literally like the one I have but the handle broke off.

I've had the same PowerXL for 7 years and I put the whole basket in the dishwasher after I use it. 🙃

r/airfryerThoughts on this GreenPan air fryer?

We just bought the one basket greenpan air fryer.  So far, so good.  Just knowing that it is less toxic, makes me feel better. Worth the extra $30 I paid. We returned a Power XL one, which constantly had an odor every time I used it.  No air fryer is completely clear of chemicals, but it's a start. We also are trying there pan and stainless steel pots.

I've used the power XL and it worked great. Moved away from roommates (it was his) and got a Gourmia 8qt one gifted for Christmas last year. I LOVE it. No weird smell at first use. Almost never use the oven anymore. Dislike cleaning it but that might be because my sink is small. Has a shelf/tray thing that elevates the food so air circulates around. I think my mom got it for like USD $88 or so last year during black Friday.

I’ve owned a Ninja, Gourmia and a PowerXL. They’re all built like crap and last a little over warranty when used regularly. Hopefully there’s a decent one out there.

I’ve had a PowerAirFryer Oven for 7 years. Bought all my friends and family them when they were out. It’s great and a front door like these instead of the bucket. Was $100 and use it daily even now. I think now its PowerXL air fryer

To each their own I guess, I have a Bella 8qt that I love. Then as a 2nd one I bought a Power xl that connected to wifi, , had a 2 layer system, boy was it junk, supposedly more powerful than the Bella, it took longer to cook the exact same thing as it did the Bella. to be honest I just threw it away and bought a 2nd Bella when I wanted to do some meat in one and a side dish in the other.

I used to use a large convection toaster oven for everything, a couple of years ago I was given a Power XL air fryer. I really like it. There's no basket, it's shelves. So it's more like a small convection oven but it's big enough to get a small pan in.
