⬆️👍 We just bought one of these and are super happy with the capacity and the quality.
I have it, it's great and can be set to 450F where most top out at 400F, so a little more flexible. The basket is sized so that the pre-cut aluminum foil squares at Costco line it perfectly so that a great many foods can be cooked without needing to clean the basket itself that way. Downside is the alarm tone is very soft so you're not going to hear it across the house. I also have a dual basket Ninja which I thought would be useful but actually doesn't cook faster because in split mode the heating element is split between the zones, slowing both. The only air fryer that feels like an upgrade to me at this point is the Typhur Dome 2, and that simply because the basket is so very very wide. But I no longer need to cook batches large enough to justify that.
No countertop appliance can cook for that many adults any kind of quick. You could upgrade to the typhur dome air fryer which is very wide one that can hold a bunch at once? The downside is its kinda low so the chicken would have to be spatchcocked. A countertop oven probably could do the whole chicken, but even if you have multiple trays more than 1 stop even cooking from happening since the food is so close to the heating elements unlike a normal sized oven.
You can do the whole chicken in the Dome 2, you just have to spatchok it first (cut it so it lays flat). I just got the Dome 2 and so far loving it.
I think the real difference is # of heating elements (does it have a top and bottom element) and depth of food it can handle. I love my Dome 2, its expensive but it does amazingly well at a lot of tasks, and the basket is huge, will do a full 12 in pizza with no problems, but is it very shallow, so that is its main drawback and the only thing I dont like about it.
Typhur dome crisps up chicken nicely, I literally butterflied a whole (about 4.5 lb) chicken and put it in there and it had wonderful crispy skin. An air fryer is just a tiny convection oven so if it would work in a convection oven it will work in an air fryer.
Typhur dome is insanely good. It’s a constantly used tool. Easy to clean and cooks things fast. And big enough to cook multiple things
They’re all heated rated materials… no danger. You can get basket liners if you want. My favorite air fryer is the typhur dome.
We bought a Turboblaze a year ago July. Under warranty we had the crisper plate replaced (non-stick failure) after about 6 months. Then the basket about a month after that. Then the entire unit in July. A large crack appeared in the top of the cooker and the touch screen stopped working. In each instance Cosori was amazing at getting the replacement to us in record time. Their customer service was excellent. After the final failure of the device itself we said screw it and went with a Typher Dome 2. I still have the replacement Turboblaze sealed in the box it was shipped in. Not sure what I will do with it. All that being said, we use the air fryer daily. So it sees a lot of use. We loved it. Other than the aforementioned issues it was an excellent air fryer. We also know a number of folks that have the Turboblaze and have had no issues whatsoever. Sometimes you just get a lemon or one that was built on a Monday or a Friday. It's an awesome looking air fryer as well. Feature wise I only wish it did not have a button to open the basket and I wish it had a flip reminder.
I swear by this. Absolutely loved it. Wife, who NEVER used the old air fryer, uses it.
Typhur Dome 2. Expensive, but quiet. Wait for a sale. Will never buy another.
Do you miss the height at all? Not that I usually cook a whole chicken in an air fryer since I like my large oven method very much. But I keep thinking “What if I want to?” I like the Typhur products a lot and the Dome seems so tempting. Currently I have a Philips XL and XXL after trying lots of cheaper ones and disliking them.
I have the Typhur Dome 2. I upgraded to this for 3 key reasons. 1. Wider base. I can cook 4 burgers, 2 large steaks or more than a pound of chicken easily. 2. Ceramic coating makes cleaning extremely easy. 3. Self clean feature works just like an oven's self cleaning function. After cooking a ton of red meat, this feature is awesome.
Agreed. I love it!
Buy the gourma 8q from target when it drops below $60. Clean it after every use. If you use it a lot when it comes time to replace it go for the dome 2
Neither, get a basket style. Either go cheap with the gourmia 8qt for $50 or the typhur dome 2. I love both but I treat the gourmia as a throw away device.
I love that it's shallow but wide/deep AF. Makes the best wings
