Air Doctors are overpriced cheap shit. I definitely don't recommend. My only regret is buying Air Doctor 5500 instead of a second Smart Air blast for my main room. The build is cheap, the filters are tiny and outrageously expensive. Worst money I've spent in the last decade. I never never never recommend Air Doctor. You are falling for marketing gimmicks. More CADR is far more important and will do way more for helping MCAS than any BS Air Doctor pushes.
My approach to managing MCAS has been to put a Corsi Rosenthal box in every for the high CADR, and also a commercial HEPA purifier in every room for the finer particles. My MCAS went absolutely wild last winter so I basically tripled the CADR I had in every room and it has helped so much. My favourite unit is definitely the Smart air blast MKII, there is also a mini version. Quiet but extremely powerful, simple, huge HEPA filter that lasts 2 years. Next I would recommend either a homemade CR box or a premade kit. I'm in Canada so I bought a kit from Northbox systems, Clean air kits is the American equivalent. Can't really beat the CADR on these units, especially when taking into account how quietly they are. /r/crboxes If you want a small commerical purifier, can't go wrong with the Costco Winix units. Price can't be beat and I find the sound of these more pleasant than most commerical purifiers. I have 3 for many years now with no issues. I also have an Air Doctor and a Levoit that I don't recommend. Cheaply built, irritating sound.
We have three air purifiers in our home, two australian shepherd dogs. One being an Air Doctor 550 which more than adequately covers our small house. I qould say they don't help with hair. Dandruff and dust yes. We used to be able to see dust in the light shining into the house and not anymore. Still have tons of hair we vaccum.
IQAir or air doctor pro would be my recommendation. I have both and my environmental allergies are soooo much better. Pet danger is a thing of the past. We also have a gsd.
If I had to pick one, I’d say the IQAir but only by a very small margin. They both rock! The IQAir was ungodly expensive. It replaced my Coway 400S which is now in my basement. We keep the Air Doctor in our bedroom. I really don’t think you can go wrong with either. Then there’s the filter costs. Neither are cheap and I’m not really looking forward to replacing either but that life I guess. 🤪
Air doctor and Austin Air. I need the activated charcoal filters with a HEPA filter because of VOCS.
We use an airdoctor in our living room/kitchen area + a big room dehumidifier that runs on auto. We also run a smaller airdoctor and dehumidifier in our master bedroom + bathroom. They’ve worked great for us in our house
