Units usually list square feet coverage not cubic feet just as an FYI. Of course they assume standard size ceilings so for higher ceilings you would need a larger unit but just as an FYI it would be more informative for you to give square footage than cubic footage for people to give recommendations. Whole floor units are for 1,500 square feet and that’s not what you need for a bedroom at all. I use an air Doctor 2000 which I think covers 360 square foot unit for my bedroom which is 180 square feet and same for my living room which is larger and has open doorways and is right next to the place my dog spends most of his time so goes through filters faster. Just ordered a 1500 square feet coverage VOC specific filter for whole main floor (it’s on wheels and heavy and will be moved around) but those are way past your budget point. Also ordered a 650 square foot VOC unit for room specific use. Which is more than I need but wanted a more powerful unit. VOC specific units are from allerair but they haven’t been delivered yet. Anyways point being it’ll probably be better list square feet rather than cubic feet for recommendations because it sounds like you have a massive bedroom and require a very expensive unit when I’m assuming you don’t. For pet dander and pollen a good HEPA filter will be enough. Look at the particulate size as that’s important: standard medicals filters up to 0.3 microns, super filters up to 0.1 microns and Ultra (air Doctor) up to 0.003. If you are worried about air quality because of city living and smoke odors just a HEPA isn’t going to get rid of that you would want good VOC coverage but those are more heavy and more costly. Examples being my very very high quality HEPA filters in the air Doctor are great but their VOC filters are for shit and so are most available regular air filters despite claims to remove VOCs and odors with those thin carbon filters that don’t do much. I’m keeping my air doctor because I do appreciate the ULTRA HEPA but needed VOC filters which I got information from here and ordered allerair units.
We have the [Air Doctor 3500](https://a.co/d/0dVmhIw9) which works for large areas. It covers the whole first floor of our house. If you’re looking for something smaller for a bedroom, the Air Doctor 2000 is cheaper and covers up to like 300sq feet.
Last year, my household had RSV, flu A, and rhinovirus at the same time (2 kids in preschool lol). I put the kids downstairs with an Air Doctor and somehow I managed to make it through without getting sick at all, while on immunosuppressants. I also have really severe fragrance allergies and it’s been a lifesaver for that. I’d have 10 of them if I could afford it 😂
We use an airdoctor in our living room/kitchen area + a big room dehumidifier that runs on auto. We also run a smaller airdoctor and dehumidifier in our master bedroom + bathroom. They’ve worked great for us in our house
i love our AirDoctor! the units go on sale occasionally but the filters unfortunately never do. it works extremely well for smoke, cooking odors, regular dust/particulates. i’ve had mine for 3 years and have had zero issues with it. you can vacuum the first filter ever month (or more often if needed) and then there’s a carbon filter and hepa filter that are replaced at different intervals depending on air quality.
The best on the market imo is Austin air but it’s pricey. I will likely only buy one for my baby’s nursery. We have air doctors in our bedroom and living room, and they seem to work quite well. We had our second model stop working under warranty and they replaced it at no cost, but that is the only bad experience we have had. Our older unit is still going strong a few years in.
In my experience air purifiers do work well but they can take a little bit of time so you’ll still smell it right after your cat goes. Currently have the Air Doctor and love it. Make sure you’re using enough litter that they can bury their poos and fully changing out the litter every 30 days to help with odor control.
I have 2 air doctors and a levoit and don't notice any difference between them. If money was no option I'd probably gonwoth Austin Air or Jaspr. If budget then Levoit or Winix from Costco. Or Costco also has a Shark with a 5 year filter.
I have two air doctors and a Winix running 24s
We have had the Air Doctor for about 2 years now and love it. Got us through mycotoxins, fires, living by a freeway. It has a sensor that also increases filtration when needed. We change the carbon filter 2x/year and the HEPA filter 1x/year.
We hated our air doctor because it started to short out our outlet and the filters are so insanely expensive to replace. They’re also hard to find and only available through their website (with no free shipping). We sold ours and purchased a Winix from Costco, works great and came with three replacement filters
