I have no idea why it would be called a scam. Adam Wong, the engineer regularly posts on X and there have been many positive reviews. I have both the AirFanta 3pro which has excellent CADR. At full blast it might be a bit noisier but I lent mine to a friend visiting and staying at a hotel and they liked the white noise and subsequently bought one. I have both the regular and the carbon filters (they can't be bought like a furnace type Corsi-Rosenthal). The Airfanta 4 lite is the personal laminal air purifier but it purifies just at your face and is not considered a room cleaner so you won't find a CADR for it. Some airlines allow them and some don't. Personally if I was traveling I'd bring an AirFanta 3pro as it's collapsible and has a better CADR than the Levoit.

You have a lot of options with that budget: You could get two AirFanta 3 Pros or one Smart Air Blast MKII Or Tower of Power and Triple Exhalaron from Clean Air Kits. For a large space the conventional/pre-built air purifiers will cost more, as you can see with the Smart Air. Also, I highly recommend the AirFanta 4Lite for your husband to take to his treatments. It’s a personal portable air purifier designed to blow a clean stream of air. Coupled with masking in a N95 it’s a great additional layer of mitigation since viruses are a concern. The 3Pro could be brought to treatments as well. I’ve seen people carry it assembled in a large mesh tote bag. It can be powered by a power bank. You could get 3 AirFanta 3Pros and still spend less than one Smart Air.

If you’re able to have some kind of surface to place it facing you when you have appointments then I’d suggest the AirFanta 4Lite which is a portable laminar air flow (not big enough to clean the room, but able to send a straight stream of purified air toward your face if there aren’t strong air currents around). It’s more meant for if you have to eat in an unsafe space. I’ve used mine for meetings in cafes. It’s very sleek and white and fancy looking. Has inbuilt battery (rechargeable) that lasts a few hours; can also be used with power banks. I’ve carried mine in knapsacks but it does take up some space. Also would suggest on top of this the AirFanta 3Pro which is strong enough to clean a room (packs more punch than other purifiers of its size but can be a little more noisy and doesn’t look as sleek for sure as its like a CR box). Mine just stays in my living room. It’s portable (packs flat for carrying, pretty light) but I wouldn’t to dismantle and set it up again more than once or twice a day; it’s a little fiddly. You didn’t ask about masks but just to mention that the Zimi Air is super breathable with no metal pieces. I use the earloop for large conferences and so far it’s kept me safe.

Like others have said, large spaces are challenging. Anything is better than nothing, so you could grab something used off of Facebook Marketplace and just pay to change out the filter. I’d get something that sits on the floor though, not the desk. Look for a unit from Levoit, Coway, or Winix. There is also the AirFanta 4 personal air purifier available on Amazon. It’s more expensive, but it’s designed to sit very close to you on your desk and shoot clean air directly at your face. It actually works if you use it as instructed.

Hi there thanks for the reply! Yeah i read on a couple posts saying that AirFanta is a scam, so was thinking about it twice, but actually recently bought the AirFanta Mini which seemed to be working as intended.
