The only portable filter that can make a statistical difference is the AirFanta 4lite, which is designed to provide a laminar flow of clean air. When used correctly (within 1 foot of your face, and your nose/mouth within the stream), it can provide air that is about 7x cleaner than ambient air, which puts it on par with an average KN95 experience, but nowhere near the 100+ that someone will be getting from a well-fitting N95. Anything that doesn’t have a laminar flow (everything else on the market) immediately mixes dirty ambient air right back into the stream before it gets to your breathing zone, and is therefore reliant on needing to filter all of the air within a given space, which they are drastically underpowered to be able to do with any meaningful significance.

None of the regular models do that; mayyyyybeee the Respiray or the Airfanta4 or the AirfantaWear.

AirFanta 4Lite is a great portable air purifier. The maker, Adam Wong, started developing air purifiers for COVID mitigation reasons. The 4Lite is a laminar flow air purifier which means it blows a clean stream of air to the face. It's one of very few portable purifiers I'd rely on as someone still taking COVID mitigations.

This could also work as a layered strategy: clean air via a laminar flow air purifier and masking. It's a good reminder for me. I need to make a dental appointment in the new year.

If I had to do it over again, I'd probably get the small air purifier from Clean Air Kits for my work office. They specialize in high CADR quiet air purifiers. North Box Systems is the Canadian equivalent. Maybe the Guardian one will be a good fit for your office.[North Box Systems](https://aidankepo.wixsite.com/northboxsystems) If you just want an air purifier for lunch time, the AirFanta 4Lite. This is under the assumption you're masking. The 4Lite is a laminar air purifier which means it blows a clean stream of air. I use a room air purifier at work and occasionally use the 4Lite, mainly if I need to eat right as I get to work and my air purifier was on low overnight or if someone was just in my office and I need to eat or hydrate.

I have the Winix A231 and BlueAir 511. I started with the Blue Air 511 which isn't terribly loud when it's on blast. I added the Winix A231 as an extra precaution. This one is the loudest of the two. I mask when my office door is closed and the air purifiers are running. My workplace has an HVAC system and from the looks of some of the vents, I know the filters for individual rooms haven't been replaced. There's clumps of dust visible in one of the air vents in my office. Considering there's a possibility air from another room is being mixed into the air coming into my office, I mask. I've been at my current job for almost 3 years. For the first 2 years I've been fine with the Blue Air 511. I caught strep once because I didn't wait long enough to remove my mask after two coughing kiddos left my office. That incident prompted me to start bringing my 4Lite to work so I could eat or drink soon after someone left my office. I've been around COVID and flu-positive people at work and didn't catch it thanks to my N95 In some cases my air purifier helped too- it just depended on where I interacted with the person. I was recently gifted an elastomeric mask. I doubt I'll wear it to work because I would be too self-conscious. Here's a helpful article on the difference between laminar flow and turbulent flow. [https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/the-truth-about-laminar-airflow-in-air-purifiers/](https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/the-truth-about-laminar-airflow-in-air-purifiers/) Unfortunately Smart Air is trying to sell their QT3 as a laminar flow air purifier, and while it may be laminar flow, it has an incredibly small stream of air. I do not recommend it. All their other devices are great.

I’d much rather have the 4Lite in an open office setup than not. Just saw you mention Amtrak. I took my 4Lite on an Amtrak trip. Just have to remember to move the purifier with you or mask back up if you need to move out of the safe zone. I had to reach down into my bag a few times and the first two times I didn’t realize I wasn’t masked nor was the device near my face. No illness, thank goodness but it was a learning experience. Maybe your work would be willing to split the cost of the 4Lite with you? As immunocompromised person, the more layers the better.🤍

N95 Mask and the AirFanta 4Lite for when you need to eat and drink. You'll need to be relatively close to the device for it to reduce your risk of inhaling COVID, flu, RSV, etc. I run mine on high and if you're Ina cubicle situation your neighbors will hear it but to me it's not obnoxiously loud. To get the most out of the device, running it on high is the way to go. I run air purifiers in my office at work and use the 4Lite for when I need to eat and drink after someone's left my office. If it's just been me in my office for most of the day or within the last hour, I don't use the 4Lite.

The 3Pro can be put in your luggage if that's what you're getting at. Your second option is the AirFanta 4Lite. You'd have to use it close-up, within a foot of your face. It's not meant to clean the air of a whole room. It's for close range use. I'm able to fit that in my backpack

Interesting the photos show it right in front of the mouth. I use an AirFanta Mini on planes to eat and I have it practically pressed against my mouth. Anything further away just wouldn't be strong enough.
