We use an Alen 75i downstairs in main living space area and two 45i's upstairs, one in the nursery with odor filter that is surprisingly effective and the other in the master bedroom. Not cheap upfront and filters are pricey, but they've worked well for us for about two years now and it's nice to be able to schedule them in app so they don't run at the same time as humidifiers in the winter etc.

Alen is another brand to look at. Very quiet. Their 75i would be a good fit to not have to run it on high all the time. Plus you get a lifetime warranty if you buy filters from them or authorized 3rd parties.

Alen 75i with the VOC filter. Lots of carbon in there to help with the odors you mentioned. Yes there are others with even more carbon but the price starts to go through the roof.

If you want BIFL the only answer is Alen. They offer a lifetime warranty as long as you buy filters from them or from an authorized 3rd party. The 75i and 45i are excellent depending on your space. I’d get the VOC filter as well.

r/BuyItForLifeThe Best Air Purifier on the Market? Recommendation?

1) Ask r/airpurifiers 2) Alen is really the only true BIFL brand because they offer a lifetime warranty for as long as you buy genuine Alen filters. Plus the filters last a long time too and they are incredibly quiet. Coway and Winix are good too just not at the level Alen is. **Avoid Dyson, blueair and Levoit. They’re junk.** 3) As for sizing, this part is important: most manufacturers advertise crazy sqft numbers (1,000sqft+ for a tiny tabletop unit) just know that most of the time this is disclaimed by stating it can filter all the air in a 1ksqft room ONE TIME per hour. If you actually want to filter your air, industry standard is FOUR times per hour. So in reality, that 1ksqft unit is really only good for a 250sqft room **on full blast** which is usually loud. What kind of space are you trying to purify? An Alen 45i or 75i is great for living rooms and open spaces, then A flex or 25i bedrooms would work well.

If you want to buy off the shelf: Alen 75i (or two) with their VOC filter. Should be right on budget. Although I do believe they have commercial units as well. Check their website for commercial pricing.

Alen is excellent and built like a tank. Also literally BIFL as you get a lifetime warranty as long as you buy filters from them or an authorized 3rd party. Depending on your room size, 45i or 75i are great. (Remember the advertised sqft you see is often 1 air change per hour, if you want it to actually work well, 4 or 4.8 (industry standard) ACH should be used.

Not a Dyson. Seriously. Alen, Coway or winix.

Dyson in general is not known for high quality especially for the price they charge. Also their customer service is shit. The other 3 I listed are much better options. You’ll want as much carbon in the filter as possible. Alen VOC for example.

I have 6 Alens. 2 x BreatheSmart 75i, 2 x BreatheSmart, a T500, and a Paralda. I like them. They are quiet, the sensors (on the 4 bigger ones) seem to be accurate and ramp up cfm when air quality calls for it. I live in the lightning capital of the world... God's Lightning Rod, FL. I had 2 older ones that got hit and the LEDs went out. It still worked fine, it was just the little LED bulbs that didnt work. They sent me 2 new units with no hassle. The filters are not cheap, but I am happy with how long they last and how they perform. I'd 1000% buy from them again.

I have two Alen Air i75s and i35s running in my house from 10 am to 10 pm. I used to run them 24 hours a day on high, but my electric bill was too high. The air in our house was always fresh and I found the woosh noise from the air scrubbers soothing.

Agree, have 75i and even on highest speed sound is minimal compared to a whole bunch of others I tried. And even on lower speeds of 3 and 4 still getting 255-300 cfm. I just bought the 45i because I wanted an additional unit in my living space that was smaller footprint. But running on high speed was way louder to me than turbo on the 75i and getting 350-375 cfm vs 255. Should be fine though for a smaller space where you can run on speed 3 vs turbo. In my case, as much as I love how small and lightweight it is, I'm returning. I just ordered 35i for the bedroom as it was a savings over 45i and used a coupon at home depot. Will see. I use the fresh filters.. Love the app, which I didn't think I would even care about. It shows me graphs of when outdoor and indoor levels spike... Co2 , pm2. 5, voc. And I like that I can change speeds and other setting from my phone if needed. I'm assuming the sensor not super accurate, but it shows trends in air quality.

r/AirPurifiersAlen BreatheSmart 35i vs BreatheSmart FLEX?

I am not familiar with the flex, but bought the 75i, which I love!. Alen customer service is great. They should be able to explain whatever you need to know about the different models. I was confused about the flex as well. I'm sold on the Alen unit I have because I run it on turbo and it's just pleasant background sound. Every other one I've tried on high is too annoying do all day and the cadr is usually way lower on the next lower speed. With Alen I know I'm getting the # of air exchanges I want and never change the speed.

r/AirPurifiersHas anyone purchased and tested the IQ Air Atem Earth?

Thanks for that info. I did look up sound pressure levels and answer online answer was it was the same as decibels, although that might not be accurate. I may try the Everest Air. Surprised to hear that Coway Pro X is quiet at that higher cfm. Will check it out. I recently purchased an Alen 75i from Lowes, as they have a 90 day return option. It is amazingly quiet on Turbo. When i first set it up I sat right next to it..and it is surprisingly a pleasant sound. I can live with it on high setting all the time. Can't imagine many other units that quiet on highest settings. But sensor shows my air is excellent from moment I turned it on, so hard to tell what it is doing to help. It is big and a little heavy for me, I hurt my back moving it. If the Atem Earth performed as well it would be worth the extra money for 10 lbs lighter and smaller floor space needed. I am reluctant to buy though because IQ Air charges a 15% restocking fee...$162. Still hoping I will see some reviews to inform my decision.

After trying a number of purifiers..I settled on the Alen 75i. It was the only one that was not annoyingly loud on high speed. I ended up with 2..I got the version 2 for the Version 1 price and I can run both on turbo and they are very quiet. And love that even on speed 3 and 4 I get 255-300 cfm. At those speeds its ultra quiet. More than i planned to spend, but totally worth it to have clean air without the noise. And Lifetime guarantee means I may not every have to replace them. I have one in corner of living room where there is plenty of space for it. The second one is not as easy to fit in, but I am making it work. I had hoped that the 45i would work for my second unit in main living space, but dissappointed to find it is louder on its highest speed than the 75i! I guess when you compress air flow into a smaller unit, it just doesnt work the same. Alen claims its 1 decibel lower, yet it it much louder in my experience. It is the perfect size for my bedroom at lower speed, but I can't justify the $389 (on sale) for 165ftsq that is nightime use only. So will be returning that one and still looking for the right bdrm unit. Noise isn't an issue in there as I sleep with a loud white noise machine. I had looked at Pro X for main living space, but it won't roll on carpet and the Alen has a better guarantee and ongoing costs were equal or better with Alen. Good luck with your choice! Will be curious to hear what you end up with.

Alen purifiers. I have 3. They’re amazing, perfect background noise (I’m sensitive to sound), and work really well to the point anyone who stays at my place doesn’t deal with allergies. I own 1 cat for reference and it helps with pet hair thanks to the ionizer option. I have one i75 and two i45s.

r/AirPurifiersAir purifier to address upper airway resistance during sleep?

There's literally only one aiir purifier that's quiet and it's the Alen Breathsmart 75i. I've had dozens of different brands and that's the only one that is whisper quiet even on full blast, literally nothing else compares. They aren't cheap but if sound is a concern and you want a air purifier that actually works then it's definitely one of the best options. Edit: you should let the air purifier run all day, it really pointless otherwise.

The Coway airmega are considerably louder and even worse they do a shit job of filtering. There's a significant gap between housing and filter allowing a significant amount of air to go unfiltered. Blue air don't even use a hepa air filter.. it's some proprietary tech that also forces you to use an ionizer.. they are among the more quiet solutions but they don't compare. Their ability to filter air is also questionable. Alen's aren't perfect but they're damn good in comparison.

r/AirPurifiersHEPA filter smell makes me sick, any brands that don't have this issue?

Yup, I just replaced the filter in my 75i and maybe I smelt a tiny bit of a smell for about 30 mins but it was faint. On the same day I replaced my filter in my Oransi Mod Plus in a different room and that filter off gassed for a solid 36 hours.. It's been a few years since I bought the Alen purifiers but I don't remember them having any smell out of the box whereas the Winix, Oransi and Coway purifiers had noticable off gassing for a few days. They're expensive but they seem to stand by their products.

I've had just about every brand of air purifier. I highly recommend Alen air purifiers. I have two 75i's and a 45i. I've had the 75i's for two years now and they have been excellent. The cost of filters is high but that also insures your purchase with the lifetime warranty so hard to go wrong. They are exceptionally quiet even at the highest speed. The only air purifier I've had that is better is the Aeris 3in1 but at twice the cost it's hard to justify when the Alen's work so well. My only advice would be to try and save up and get the larger 75i. They do go on sale about once a year for pretty deep discount.

r/AirPurifiersUnlimited Budget to Remove Odors

You may want to investigate a whole house air filtration system if you indeed have the budget. Otherwise your options are basically something like AirPura, it filters both air and uses large amounts of carbon to get rid of smells.. [https://www.airpura.com/](https://www.airpura.com/) An alternative would be something like the Oransi, this is just a carbon filteration, so smells only.. [https://oransi.com/collections/truecarbon-air-purifiers](https://oransi.com/collections/truecarbon-air-purifiers) Or my personal do-it-all favorite is the Alen Breathsmart 75i, filters and has an active carbon option. The only downside to these is the carbon seems to only last 6-9 months and filters are over $100 but it's a price I'm willing to pay with how quiet and set and forget these are.. r/AirQualityMy open kitchen turns into a smokehouse every time I cook steak. What’s the best air purifier?

I have a 75i in my house with an open first floor about 1150sqft and I have even better extraction than it sounds like you do. I like that it gives me a visual indication of AQ with the light but it goes pink (the worst AQ light) whenever we sear things with the extraction on. The fan will run on the highest setting for 20 minutes after searing/sauteeing then step down through the rest of the speeds. I know people will say that they’re overpriced but they’ve worked well for us in our home. We have 4 and price hasnt been my primary decision driver. Noise, filter quality, an longevity have been. We also have focused on modifying our air handlers for HEPA filtration without altering static pressure. If you have the space near the returns to do so it is a big bang for your buck.

The one with the charcoal element keeps things smelling better which I prefer in the kitchen. It’s not the absolute highest filtration they offer but I think it’s still within spitting distance of the others.
