"It filters out dust, dander and odors amazingly well."
"IQ Air Health Plus Pro fun video to watch. It filters up to 100x smaller microns, (I believe .003 microns) than standard HEPA purifiers, which is in the Gases territory. ... What we should be worried is about all the chemicals in the air. Majority of homes are old and a lot of them still have potentially lead paints that release toxins in the air. Asbestos, styrene, formaldehyde, crude oil byproducts, plastic fumes, lead, iridium, uranium, etc."
"If you are sensitive or worried about VOCs they’re the best on the market because of the size of their filters. ... I’m recovering from a toxic mold exposure and (at the time of purchase) they were one of the only filters that captured those particles effectively."

"I got 4 years out of the first filter and 3 from the second because I made the mistake of using it during a house reno."
"The filters can last 5 years which does make the initial cost considerably better."
"I like the chunk filters they use that last a very long time. ... Think like 5 years between replacements."

"I have 3 of these because I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome & they have helped so much."
"I recently started leaving it running 24/7 and the difference is remarkable."
"For cigarette smoke and doors you need a HEPA filter that also has a lot of active carbon. That means pounds of action carbon not the thin filters you normally see. The only consumer filter I am aware of that has that is the Austin Air HealthMate. It's bigger, louder, and uses more power than some of the options you list, but it should make an actual dent in VOCs unlike many of the ones you listed."

"The unit itself is quite low quality and expensive for what you get, once you take it apart to do the filter change."

"the medify one sounds horrible- it has a weird high pitch and i can’t stand it even on the very lowest setting. ... i actually sent it back and they replaced it and the second one sounds the same."
"The Germ Guardian air purifiers from Costco are incredibly noisy and create a constant high-pitched noise at *any* setting."
"Levoit Core 300 was decent on specs, but it hummed just enough to wake the youngest every other night."

"I bought it to reduce VOCs, however according to my sensor it loses effectiveness in under a month, then you are on the hook for a new $300 filter."
Austin Air HealthMate. Yes, it's pricey ($400-ish) but the filters last 5 YEARS instead of 6-12 months like most others. Did the math and it's actually cheaper in the long run. Built like a tank too - this thing will outlive me. Great for serious allergy sufferers.
I would also like to know. I personally bought an Austin Air Health Mate. But that was $700. Everything I read with that said it was pretty good. But I’m always looking for better products. Edit: Austin claims you only have to change your filter every 5 years.
Have you looked into used medical grade units (the ones listed in the pinned post as containing sorbent media)? I was able to get an Austin Air Healthmate off Marketplace for under $200 USD. There are some on ebay too. The replacement filter is $315 USD but it lasts 5 yrs so it might actually be less expensive in the long run compared to others.
Austin Air Healthmate. Been running mine 24/7 for 10 years with no issues whatsoever. Change the filter every 3-5 years (depending on your environment) and you’re good.
Yeah that's fair. And totally not defending shark, they make shit appliances ever. It's still impressive how long the Austin Air filters last, cost aside
I have two different Dyson models. I'm sorry but they are not that great. My Austinair hm450 has been amazing. The filter alone weighs like 25lbs.
I have the healthmate and love it. If you read their manuals, the filter is all that changes between machines, so you can upgrade or downgrade every 5 years when you do the filter change! Edit: the full-size machines, that is
Austin Air healthmate. Expensive but good

Austin Air - it’s a tank and made in USA. No fancy controls . Heavy metal frame big fan. Filters last 5 years. Some of their filters can filter chemicals.
