"They're incredible and the best thing is that they have this washable cloth sleeve (pre filter) that goes over the entire intake which happens to wrap all the way around. ... It does such a good job that the actual internal filter stays significantly cleaner and doesn't need to be cleaned or changed as often. ... It's a game changer."
"Blueair imo because they have washable prefilters, and pet hair and dander is large and honestly doesn't need HEPA filters to clear it out the way, say, smoke does."
"The pre-filter is easily removed and washed"

"how quiet it is. ... it's remained silent at night after a couple of years."
"Our favorite is the BlueAir in our bedroom - we keep it on auto mode 24/7. It’s super quiet and seems to work well."
"the BlueAirs are the only ones whose fans have stayed smooth and quiet."

"OTOH, the two Blueair purifiers are on all the time and we have ***not*** noticed a decrease in the rate at which dust accumulates on the woodwork in the house."
"Maalikabok pa rin kahit super sealed yung unit."

"As much as I like the looks and such, I also want them to actually filter the air. ... I seriously can't find ANY data on how they actually filter. ... I did read somewhere about an H12 rating on the filters, but that's it."
"Although you'll find complaints it doesn't use a "real" HEPA filter"

"Years ago, I bought (an awesome) BlueAir HEPA air purifier from Costco and they no longer sell the replacement filters."
"the larger sizes have significantly more expensive filters"
"Those filters are crazy expensive, so that purchase turned into quite the "investment"."

"I don’t like they have an ionizer that you can’t disable. ... Ionizers create ozone, and when ozone reacts with different molecules it creates all kinds of new compounds that can’t be predicted."

"the auto setting barely did anything unless I literally blew smoke at them"
"Their sensors suck"
I have one and think it is worth $50. I got it at Blueair and it was on sale for $300 or so off. It's a very expensive air purifier and three filters are need. If you want odor control, too, you must get the [Classic 500/600 Series DualProtection Filter](https://www.blueair.com/products/500-600-series-dualprotection), as opposed to the filters that just clean the room. They range from $120-150 for three, depending on where you buy them online. The Blueair website even has a subscription plan where you get a discount for subscribing. I'm using it in a foyer which is connected to a living room and dining room, and it works fine. The foyer is right off the breakfast nook and kitchen, and it does an excellent job eliminating cooking smells that drift into the foyer and can travel upstairs. The first two speeds are quiet, but the third highest speed is very, very loud. I also have the Blueair 211+ and 211 Auto in other rooms and really like them, too. If I need air purifiers in the future, I will always buy Blueair.

I have the Blueair 211 and Classic 605. Both are great air purifiers and make great noise on high, but they appear to be older models, so may not be easy to find. If you end up buying an air purifier that is too quiet, consider also getting LectroFan Classic White Noise Machine. It has lots of fan sound choices and is the only sound machine I have ever used that is loud enough for me.
I am a Blueair girly for 5 years now. I purchased mine due to days of research and consumer reports back in 2020. I keep mine on high since it is a nice white noise sound for my dogs (otherwise they bark at any little noise at night). The high setting is also where you find most of the benefits of cleaning the air in the room. If I do not have mine on, I can smell my dogs and everything feels dirty. I have two 211+ models.
We have 3 air purifiers (one in the main space, one in my bedroom, one in the basement)- necessary when you have a Berner and 6 cats lol. The big main spaces ones are blueair blue 211+s- they're amazing, the covers are machine washable and they're super quiet. My room one is just a little one from ikea lol- also works great, but is definitely for a small room only.
I use a blue air 211+ filter and love it. For some reason it also feels like the air cools down, but I know that's just because it's moving the air around the room. I've had mine for 4 years now? Replacement filters are a bit pricey, but it really helps the air in the old building I live in.
If you're looking at the Winix C610, you could also look at the T810 which has higher CADR and right now is going for cheaper ($185 on Amazon). Very similar looking models. Technically it would be "overpowered" but that just means it'll perform better at lower air speeds, which means you could operate it quieter than others. I know a lot of people really like the Blueair 211 and it's very popular. I'm personally not a big fan of the pre-filter and I found the fan noise of a different Blueair model to sound more high-pitched. Minor complaints and very much personal preference.
You’ll typically see the same top-rated models across Wirecutter, Consumer Reports, and Tech Gear Lab: the BlueAir Blue Pure 311i+ Max, Coway Airmega 1512HH, and Winix 5500. The best choice probably depends on the size of the space you’re trying to cover. For my downstairs rooms, I went with two BlueAir units (the 311 and 211 models). BlueAir offers a 25% discount for teachers, military, police, and possibly firefighters (can’t recall for sure), available in both the U.S. and Canada. They also offer a 15% discount on filter replacements if you sign up for a 6-, 9-, or 12-month subscription. For my upstairs office/bedroom—since it’s a smaller space—I went with the Coway Airmega 1512HH and have been happy with it.
Well the larger 211 is still trucking after these years so that is why is just repurchased the improved model.
BlueAir not having true HEPA and just a HEPA-type filter is fine. Multiple official testing sources show them pushing benchmarks similar to other true hepa rated units by popular brands. They still pull dust and still filter air just fine. They do have an ionizer and do produce extremely minuscule amounts of ozone. That’s why they’re certified. However, they are (especially the 511) weak units with a low CADR. If you want better performance, definitely return for a different unit or a stronger BlueAir model like the 211
I have TERRIBLE allergies. My nose drips continuously. I have 3 BlueAir 211 (2800 sqft townhome; Bedroom, living room, kitchen) and one 411 (by my cat’s litter box) When I’m at home, I experienced zero allergy symptoms. As soon as I get my car and drive out of my garage , my nose starts running. Can’t speak highly enough about the BlueAir 211. I have to replace the filters ($74 each) every 4–5 months. Worth every penny.
I have a few, the levoit 200s, the coway ap 1512hh, coway 200m, Blueair 211, and a govee. How loud of a background noise are you looking for? I think the coways are a little TOO loud on high for my personal taste, the levoit 200s is a perfect level of background noise without being too loud in my opinion. The Blueairs are a little too quiet for what you are looking for on the highest setting in my opinion. At least the larger boxier versions.
I have two of these a long with 2 blueair, a levoit 200s, and a govee. These work great but they are LOUD on the highest setting and do almost nothing on the 1st and 2nd settings. I think personally the levoit 200s does just as good a job while being MUCH quieter and more energy efficient. There is also active carbon pellets in the filters and you can connect to it with your phone if that's your thing. The Blueair(s) I have are workhorses and the airflow on them is insane while still being quiet. I got all of the Coway and Blueairs second hand on marketplace for $50 a piece...
