You might not be able to get a commercial one that makes things nearly sterile, but I have had luck with both of these (I have a highly reactive airway, am allergic to the cats in the house, and asthmatic): [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BN2LZ9JH/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BN2LZ9JH/) \- Only thing to note, it does have a nice little cover on it, but if you want it to work the way it should, you have to remove it. Leave the filter visible and exposed and it works really well and lasts a very long time [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D52E2XG/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D52E2XG/) \- This one keeps my office clear. It used to be in my bedroom, but I didn't have enough floor space for it when I started working out so I got the above one which sits on my dresser. It has gotten me through more than a few stagnant air warnings here in the pacific northwest (when winter smoke, smog, and fine particulate are suspended for long periods of time in the air due to a lack of air movement)
r/BuyItForLife • Home air purifier. Especially those good for people with allergies ->Own Levoit 400 for our main living area (1,100 sq ft apt), the smaller one in our bedroom (toddler sleeps with us). Had them prior to Covid and love them. I vacuum the filters when I can per the manual. I got my mom the blueair 311i max because she was closer to one of the “minor” fires here in LA and she loved it so much she got the mini for her bedroom along with my dad’s (they sleep in separate rooms lol). I ended up getting the mini to bring to work.
r/moderatelygranolamoms • What are the Best Air Purifier for Allergies? ->I have the 311i max and I really like it. I never knew air purifiers could be so good. I always thought it was a scam until I used one and noticed the difference. I have one in my living room and when we fry onions or something similar it goes off right away. Never knew they had an app.
r/BuyItForLife • The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST! ->We just got a Blueair 311i MAX last week! So far it seems good
r/saskatoon • Air purifier ->I have the 311max and it is garbage, I refer to it as a fancy fan
r/AirPurifiers • Am I the only one who thinks that those Blueair air purifiers are not the best? ->What about brand names "hepa" filters like the blueairs "hepasilent" or airdoctors "ultrahepa" filters that use electrostatic and other forms of collection? We just picked up a blueair 311i max from target that was on sale for 159 usd. We are going on a mold prevention spree in our home in south Louisiana due to mold allergies with my kids. There's so much stuff out there to read through my head feels like it's going to implode lol. I just want something that will collect mold spores out of the air. I feel like if it can capture mold spores it'll get everything else also.
r/AirPurifiers • Stop buying True HEPA / HEPA H13 air purifiers ->We use the Blueair 311i max and 411i max, you can order a slightly more expensive smokeblock filter for them specifically made to filter out the particles in wildfire smoke. These units will also give you a readout on your phone to monitor the air quality in your home.
r/vancouver • What air purifiers are best for forest fire smoke? In a 400sq ft room? ->I'm a fan of blueair. WiFi controlled and you can see an air quality graph on the app. You're better off getting two medium sized ones placed somewhat equidistant from the center of the home. 311i Max I think I have. I've had a couple medifies that both broke. And since I was using 3rd party filters, no warranty coverage.
r/AirQuality • Best Air Purifier to Buy Now? ->We have this one in our bedroom https://www.blueair.com/us/shop/air-purifiers/blue-pure-311i-max/3539.html Blue Pure 311i Max for medium rooms! Looking online it looks like they've updated the model a little bit, but looks to be relatively the same! The filter we have on auto subscription is for this one too so couldn't have changed too much. We got the Pure 511 version for our nursery though since it's a pretty small room.
r/NewParents • Air purifiers in the nursery: best one? are they really necessary? ->I saw a youtuber that tests corsi rosenthal boxes, he uses a Blueair 311i Max as his standard to compare against, so I bought the Blueair. It works great and has partially-working Home Assistant support.
r/smarthome • To people who use Air Purifiers, do they work or is it a scam? ->I can also vouch to BlueAir customer support. I bought a second-hand air purifier and found out it was malfunctioning (weird noise coming from the motor). I sent over an email to suppport after having asked the seller for the receipt and they were able to send a new unit to me even out of warranty. Well, what happened to that unit? IT GOT STOLEN FROM MY PORCH. So I contacted BlueAir again. And they sent me a new one, AGAIN! As to the actual purifier, it's a 311i Max, it looks great and seems to work fine too. Have noticed less dust in the room it's at. It's pretty powerful but my rooms are all closed off from one another so doesn't help much for other rooms, however.
r/BuyItForLife • The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST! ->I have BlueAir purifiers. We bought them after I tested positive for mold exposure. I’m pretty sure mine are the 311 model, though it does look like they’ve released newer ones. At the time we did a bunch of research and these were the best on the market at that price point. But that was around 2020/2021 I think.
r/Masks4All • When it comes to the best air purifier for home, which options do you think of currently? ->You’ll typically see the same top-rated models across Wirecutter, Consumer Reports, and Tech Gear Lab: the BlueAir Blue Pure 311i+ Max, Coway Airmega 1512HH, and Winix 5500. The best choice probably depends on the size of the space you’re trying to cover. For my downstairs rooms, I went with two BlueAir units (the 311 and 211 models). BlueAir offers a 25% discount for teachers, military, police, and possibly firefighters (can’t recall for sure), available in both the U.S. and Canada. They also offer a 15% discount on filter replacements if you sign up for a 6-, 9-, or 12-month subscription. For my upstairs office/bedroom—since it’s a smaller space—I went with the Coway Airmega 1512HH and have been happy with it.
r/BuyItForLife • The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST! ->I have a feeling that only the largest, most expensive purifiers will help and you will need more than one for 1500sqft. And they won't clear the stench immediately. Marijuana nowadays is very intensely stinky and seems to stick and linger. I'm reading a lot of posts about this problem and everyone is in apartments. I'm in a house with a backyard separating my two open windows from any neighbors and that stuff STILL gets trapped inside my house. I am woken early in the morning by it, like a skunk just sprayed in my backyard. And it lingers for hours. I don't know how that's even possible. I'm not even sure which neighbor is doing it. I can't hear or see anything. That's how far away they are. Since I'm in a house I can prevent the problem by closing my windows quickly at the first whiff of skunkiness. I would lose my mind if I could still smell it with all the windows closed. I have a BlueAir 311 and it does nothing at all for odors. Not sure if it does anything helpful. I would like to see laws banning outdoor smoking. That's the solution. And laws banning scented dryer sheets. Those smell like poison and engulf entire neighborhoods.
r/AirPurifiers • Best Air Purifier for Neighbor's Weed ->I have a Blueair 311 and really like it. Very quiet than other brands ive had, including Levoit
r/AskNYC • Best air purifier for NYC apartment? ->Just got a 311 and can confirm my cat has scratched it a few times.
r/AirPurifiers • Am I the only one who thinks that those Blueair air purifiers are not the best? ->I mean.... I mentioned the part about them having no reviews and being at a sketchily low price point of 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of everyone else. There are really only a handful of air purifier brands that have demonstrated reliability, affordability, and effectiveness over several years, and don't dabble in post-apocalyptic/steampunk decor -- coway, levoit, blue air, winix. If you want to pay more, there's iq air, alen air, and a few others. For $110, you could have bought a blue air 511 and almost a 411, a levoit 300, almost a Levoit Vital 100s, or a Winix a231. The winix 5500, the coway 1512, levoit vital 200, and the blueair 311 are all at this CADR, but for closer to $200.
r/AirPurifiers • Is this a little too good for the price? AirPlus KXY550 ->The key here is that this is a brand Costco has carried for years AND sells the replacement filters. I have this model in my son's room and it performs very well. Years ago, I bought (an awesome) BlueAir HEPA air purifier from Costco and they no longer sell the replacement filters. Those filters are crazy expensive, so that purchase turned into quite the "investment".
r/Costco • Any thoughts on pictured air purifier? ->BlueAir Max Pure
r/BuyItForLife • The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST! ->Love my blueair - i have 3
r/BuyItForLife • The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST! ->If you’re smoking flower in doors, nothings gunna help, really. Vape it and it goes away much faster. I have a blue air filter(one of their big ones meant for like 1200sqft), in my room, I crack the window and blow a fan through it to pull the vapor out. Smells gone in about 30 minutes. Have to keep the door shut tho.
r/AirPurifiers • How is this air filter for weed smell? ->Having lived in fires and smog. Theres two easy brands to pick: Bluair (more expensive but rock - I have a few) Coway Back up is box fan with hvac filter (check which one for smoke / etc. Good luck!
r/AirPurifiers • Asthmatic in LA During Wildfires. Best Purifier for VOCs? ->i love my blueair. i have two cats, one is as floofy as they come, and it keeps up easily. the outside cover is machine washable and i wash it every time i do laundry. my only complaint is the filters are pricey and they’re often sold out during allergy and wildflower season. you can’t find them on their website or amazon or anywhere. and the generic ones are garbage. i’ve learned to keep a couple extra on hand.
r/homeowners • Best Air Purifiers for Pets? ->We run 3 in our house, one in the main living area (diy pc fan with hvac filters), and one in each bedroom (blue air brand or something, I think). Also consider plastic on leaky windows (cheap sliders).
r/saskatoon • Air purifier ->I have a few Levoit the same size as this one. I don’t really care for them compared to the Winix and Blue Air ones I have.
r/AirPurifiers • Is this worth the money ? ->Love mine too. We got 3 and they’re holding up better than the Blue Air’s I got.
r/HomeKit • Best HomeKit air purifier? ->I have terrible allergies and use Blue Air on every level. Works amazing.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Air Purifiers? ->You say costs don't matter, but what does that mean? There are devices for thousands of dollars out there, and you'd need multiple in a home. My general suggestion is to find a balance between *total cost* (initial, plus ongoing filters, plus electricity) so you can maximize the benefit and not feel pinched. Wirecutter previously did some studies on total costs - you can try to find them online, but it's been some years. If you really have no cost, just get the largest air purifier you can fit for each room and run it at the highest speed. Your home may feel like a wind tunnel, and that means it's working. For most people, Blue Air is a good balance in these various aspects. They are affordable up front, filters from the OEM aren't too bad (and generics are available on Amazon), and they have an outer washable filter (so you don't waste the expensive inner one on say, pet hair, etc.). If it were me, I'd get a large one for the room I sleep in, and at least one or two others. Ignore any automatic sensor based setting they offer. At night, or when you're in the room, you want it on the highest setting possible, and during the day, turn it down just one notch. You want the air flow to circulate and air to essentially be "scrubbed" by the filters. Remember this is only a secondary or tertiary method of cleaning in terms of priorities. Your best bang for your buck is washing your bedding weekly (including the comforter) in unscented detergent, vacuuming or sweeping, and having good airflow in your home to prevent dust and mold build up (leave bathroom and closet doors open). Use your A/C generously to keep humidity levels down in the humid months and for the sake of your sinuses, use a humidifier in the dry cold winter months if your climate has them.
r/Allergies • Whats the best hepa filter air purifier? ->I have a Blue Air and it works great. It definitely cut down on the dust in our bedroom. My kids have the Levoit purifiers in their college apartments. They must work because one daughter just asked if she could order some new filters because hers is dirty. The other said that something smells awful in the main room (that she shares with roommates), but she can’t smell anything in her room.
r/CleaningTips • What air purifier do you swear by? Trying to cut through the hype. ->We have multiple Blue Air and a Coway. Happy with all of them. Frequently available on sale.
r/BuyItForLife • The Best Air Purifiers? ->Second the Blue Air ones It’s been great to have going the last few weeks
r/CleaningTips • What air purifier do you swear by? Trying to cut through the hype. ->Blue Air, there is the internal filter that’s replaceable and out filter that is washable. They come in many sizes. I have them all over the house and it’s majorly helped w allergies and dog smell
r/BuyItForLife • Your BEST PICKS when it comes to a really good Air Purifier for Pets? ->I have 3 diff sizes and I bought according to the sq foot reccs
r/BuyItForLife • Your BEST PICKS when it comes to a really good Air Purifier for Pets? ->It's absolutely worth it, especially if you have an open top cage. I use a Blue Air and it's fantastic in keeping the farm smell to a minimum. I also open my windows at least once a week and turn on all the fans for an hour to cycle in fresh air.
r/guineapigs • Air purifier? ->Made this small flowchart for a friend who kept sneezing through spring but wouldn’t commit to buying an air purifier Step 1: Identify the enemy Is it pollen? Dust? Pet dander? The ghost of springtime past? Yes, yes, and probably yes. Step 2: Must have criteria for air purifier \- can it actually trap allergens? \- won’t sound like a jet engine in baby’s room? \- easy on maintenance? \- doesn’t cost the soul of your firstborn? (ironic but important) Step 3: I went down the rabbit hole Compared Coway vs Levoit vs Dyson vs Honeywell vs one that looked like a spaceship BUT... nothing could compare to [blueair air purifier](https://rantsreviews.com/dp-B073WJL99W) \- Covers big spaces (so your nursery + more = chill) \- HEPASilent tech is real — gets dust, mold, pollen, pet funk, all of it \- Washable pre filter = less guilt about killing the planet \- Doesn’t wheeze like a dying robot at 2am \- Design lowkey slaps too Step 4: Baby sleeps better. You sneeze less. Partner doesn’t threaten to move to the forest. Life improves. You win!!!
