Costco has the [Blue Air 311i Max](https://www.costco.com/p/-/blue-pure-311i-max-air-purifier-by-blueair/4000377102?langId=-1) on sale for $240. When I went down the air purifier rabbit hole years ago, Blue Air came out on top in my testing. Winix and Levoit are okay, but definitely not BIFL since both died after about a year of fairly light use. Winix also developed an annoying high-pitched whine after a few months on 2 of the 3 brand new units I purchased. I wouldn't recommend either brand, honestly. A surprisingly effective and affordable air purifier turned out to be Ikea's [Starkvind](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/starkvind-air-purifier-white-smart-00461949/). $200 bucks and the replacement filters are just $35.00 (as of February 2026). I'm slowly replacing all of my older air purifiers with this model because not only does it work well, it's also very attractive and that matters to me too.

You’ll typically see the same top-rated models across Wirecutter, Consumer Reports, and Tech Gear Lab: the BlueAir Blue Pure 311i+ Max, Coway Airmega 1512HH, and Winix 5500. The best choice probably depends on the size of the space you’re trying to cover. For my downstairs rooms, I went with two BlueAir units (the 311 and 211 models). BlueAir offers a 25% discount for teachers, military, police, and possibly firefighters (can’t recall for sure), available in both the U.S. and Canada. They also offer a 15% discount on filter replacements if you sign up for a 6-, 9-, or 12-month subscription. For my upstairs office/bedroom—since it’s a smaller space—I went with the Coway Airmega 1512HH and have been happy with it.

What about brand names "hepa" filters like the blueairs "hepasilent" or airdoctors "ultrahepa" filters that use electrostatic and other forms of collection? We just picked up a blueair 311i max from target that was on sale for 159 usd. We are going on a mold prevention spree in our home in south Louisiana due to mold allergies with my kids. There's so much stuff out there to read through my head feels like it's going to implode lol. I just want something that will collect mold spores out of the air. I feel like if it can capture mold spores it'll get everything else also.

We use the Blueair 311i max and 411i max, you can order a slightly more expensive smokeblock filter for them specifically made to filter out the particles in wildfire smoke. These units will also give you a readout on your phone to monitor the air quality in your home.

r/3DprintingWould adding an air purifier to my printer closet help with ASA fumes or VOCs?

I got an Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor and put it on my A1 mini z axis. I have a Blueair 311i max with a Smoke Block filter (it’s their replacement filter with the highest level of carbon) next to it. When the monitor detects VOCs it will alert me and its light will turn red. I can turn the Blueair up to level 2 or 3 and the monitor will return to yellow or green (moderate or good). So, yes it will help, but you need carbon in the filter to absorb the VOCs from what I understand.

I can also vouch to BlueAir customer support. I bought a second-hand air purifier and found out it was malfunctioning (weird noise coming from the motor). I sent over an email to suppport after having asked the seller for the receipt and they were able to send a new unit to me even out of warranty. Well, what happened to that unit? IT GOT STOLEN FROM MY PORCH. So I contacted BlueAir again. And they sent me a new one, AGAIN! As to the actual purifier, it's a 311i Max, it looks great and seems to work fine too. Have noticed less dust in the room it's at. It's pretty powerful but my rooms are all closed off from one another so doesn't help much for other rooms, however.
