Costco has the [Blue Air 311i Max](https://www.costco.com/p/-/blue-pure-311i-max-air-purifier-by-blueair/4000377102?langId=-1) on sale for $240. When I went down the air purifier rabbit hole years ago, Blue Air came out on top in my testing. Winix and Levoit are okay, but definitely not BIFL since both died after about a year of fairly light use. Winix also developed an annoying high-pitched whine after a few months on 2 of the 3 brand new units I purchased. I wouldn't recommend either brand, honestly. A surprisingly effective and affordable air purifier turned out to be Ikea's [Starkvind](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/starkvind-air-purifier-white-smart-00461949/). $200 bucks and the replacement filters are just $35.00 (as of February 2026). I'm slowly replacing all of my older air purifiers with this model because not only does it work well, it's also very attractive and that matters to me too.

We use the Blueair 311i max and 411i max, you can order a slightly more expensive smokeblock filter for them specifically made to filter out the particles in wildfire smoke. These units will also give you a readout on your phone to monitor the air quality in your home.

Recently purchased the BlueAir blue pure 311i MAX because I have 3 dogs and also wanted odor/smoke control. This was to replace the two winix c545 that I have. Total price was about $180. It took me down a path of learning about CADr ratings. The Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max air purifier has a (CADR) of 250 cubic feet per minute (CFM) for smoke, pollen, and dust. It is designed for medium-sized rooms, capable of filtering 387 sq. ft. in approximately 12.5 minutes. Taken from a Google search CADR Guidelines for Room Size Small Rooms (<200 sq ft): Look for a CADR of 100-150. Medium Rooms (200-400 sq ft): Look for a CADR of 150-250 Large Rooms (400+ sq ft): Look for a CADR of 250+. I wanted a purifier that was more than what I needed. I have a 1950s home and low ceilings and small rooms. This sits in my living room which is only about 300sq ft. It is also quiet (23 dB - 50 The 211i max is for larger rooms.

I got an Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor and put it on my A1 mini z axis. I have a Blueair 311i max with a Smoke Block filter (it’s their replacement filter with the highest level of carbon) next to it. When the monitor detects VOCs it will alert me and its light will turn red. I can turn the Blueair up to level 2 or 3 and the monitor will return to yellow or green (moderate or good). So, yes it will help, but you need carbon in the filter to absorb the VOCs from what I understand.
