I have two Blueair purifiers that can get very loud on the highest setting--the 211+ Auto and the Classic 500/600. The latter one was discontinued and the 211+ can still be bought at Amazon, but not at Blueair. Finding OEM filters is no problem for either. You might also consider a sound machine that has fan noises and can get very loud. The loudest and best one I have found is the one below. It has 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds, and the only machine loud enough for me. [https://www.lectrofan.com/collections/lectrofan](https://www.lectrofan.com/collections/lectrofan)

The Classic Blueair models with carbon filters work fabulously, yet I have only seen them priced as low as $300 when on clearance. You can still easily get filters for clearance models, though.

We use BlueAir Classic, they’re quite effective and are WiFi enabled. The companion app is sometimes frustrating to use but it’s outweighed by the fact that they have an API and can be automated. So I have the purifiers run a different speeds based on the values of our IKEA Vindstyrka.

Every house has a smell, coming home from travel you will notice your own. During Covid purchased an oversized for my space hepa air cleaner (blue air) with charcoal oder eliminator and since my house has no smell. Zero. Even when I run a scent diffuser it doesn’t smell beyond the room it’s in. I recommend all the cleaning suggestions, this is more long term. Mine runs 24x7 even when gone for a week or more. Some may be uncomfortable with that, but that’s for the insurance subreddit :-).

I have a giant blue air and I love it. Before we didn't have one in a smaller space and I feel some days I was dying. The cost of the filters is kind of pricy though.

Large Blueair running 24/7/365 for years now. Own 2 large dogs and it definitely makes for an improvement in air quality

We have Blue Air - a large one in the main living area, which catches kitchen/cooking particulate, and a mini one in each kid room. Costco has two packs of the minis for $99 right now!
