* Your country of residence: USA (PNW) * Each room or area's volume, in cubic feet or cubic meters. (You need at least one purifier per room or area.) * Living room: approx 500 square feet * Bedrooms: approx 200 square feet * Your filtration needs: e.g., pollen, dust, cigarette smoke, VOCs, cooking odors. * wildfire season and removal of odors including cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke from neighbors. * Startup budget * We are a single income family so while the budget is flexible a good deal is preferred :) Ideally under $300 for all even if that means 2 in the living room * Yearly budget (electricity + filters). * We pay about $150/m or $1,800 annually for our electric bill We have a 500 square foot living room and probably 200 square feet bedrooms -- Thoughts on this one (one for living room and one for bedroom). We'd need the living room and 1 bedroom covered. Purchasing air purifier for wildfire season and removal of odors including cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke from neighbors. We have AC in our apt. Disclaimer: I have no issue with people smoking cigarettes or weed in their apt, despite a no smoking clause in our lease. However, my spouse has significant respiratory concerns and it's problematic for her. We eventually bought this Blue Aire in large-- probably not perfect but at half off ($300 total) -- it is what it is after all my research exhaustion. We will likely get a 2nd one at half off today. I have the Blueair comfort pure 3 in 1 and it is great. A bit pricey but works nice and has heating and fan features as well.
Mostly just fancy fan, it won’t cool a room but it is nice for air circulation during the summer
I second Levoit, we have almost one in each room. And we also have a Blueair large room. Both are a smart device connected and man the amount of dust the pull is scary.
I also have a couple of BlueAir and the scheduling feature for smart purifiers is very nice to have. I have it set to run on the lowest fan setting all the time which is so quiet it's undetectable, and ramp it up for a few hours in the afternoon right before we get home from work.
Seconding Blueair! We have a Levoit and a Blueair; while I have nothing bad to say about the Levoit, I personally prefer the Blueair (granted, it was about twice as expensive). We've got two medium-sized dogs, and - aside from the clumps of dog hair under the baseboards - you wouldn't know that we had any pets!
I love my blueair. It's highly rated for the price, and has a cloth sleeve you wrap around the outside and toss in the wash that prefilters out the husky fluff. If your pup is smelly it's probably oily, and needs either more roll in leaves and dirt time or more frequent bathing. A simple rub with a damp cloth frequently, like daily if you're not using soap, will work wonders.
