"They're incredible and the best thing is that they have this washable cloth sleeve (pre filter) that goes over the entire intake which happens to wrap all the way around. ... It does such a good job that the actual internal filter stays significantly cleaner and doesn't need to be cleaned or changed as often. ... It's a game changer."
"external filter ... external prefilter cleaning by vacuuming and/or washing makes them last way longer."
"Blueair imo because they have washable prefilters, and pet hair and dander is large and honestly doesn't need HEPA filters to clear it out the way, say, smoke does."

"the only ones whose fans have stayed smooth and quiet. ... i have owned 8 over 5-6 years at least without one single issue."
"They are all basically noiseless. ... They're sooooo silent. ... The only time it runs is when we cook or something or I light a black wick and it turns on"
"the BlueAirs are the only ones whose fans have stayed smooth and quiet."

"the auto setting barely did anything unless I literally blew smoke at them"

"the larger sizes have significantly more expensive filters"
"Those filters are crazy expensive, so that purchase turned into quite the "investment"."
"BlueAir is ok but the filters are small and replace more often."

"it has ‘electrostatic’ as well as HEPA-type filtration (they claim theirs is better). I understood electrostatic was the only thing that could actually clean the air like for gasses or VOCs, not just remove particles. Looking back and re-researching, it looks like anything electrostatic will produce at least some undectectable ozone. So, well I’ll-be-damn! I wanted to not have to worry about ozone!"
"I don’t like they have an ionizer that you can’t disable. ... Ionizers create ozone, and when ozone reacts with different molecules it creates all kinds of new compounds that can’t be predicted."

"Their sensors suck"
Blueair. Cheap filters, washable pre filters and relatively cheap purifier. I had two 411+ but one died recently, it was on high 24/7 for 5 years. Part of their use is for white noise. The other in my office has had the same usage but still going. The charcoal in them kinda sucks but I cut up sheets of furnace charcoal filters and line the inside of them and replace that every two months. I work with a lot of art stuff, do a lot of printing and live with someone who sprays too much perfume so need the extra carbon though.
Plus one for this. I have two blue air 411s in bedrooms and they are very good and new filters aren’t too expensive either.
I also have two blue air 411 for each bedroom. Can't recommend them enough. They just do the job and filters are pretty cheap.
I second the Blueair purifiers. I have the 211+ non auto in my living room and the smaller versions in my bedrooms. I've had the 211+ running for about ten years and still going strong. The smaller ones I had to replace recently. I got the table top Mini Max through Costco in a 2-pack and I regret that size. I'll get the smaller standing 411 ones again next time.
The only thing that will stop dust from your PC is you cleaning your PC and cleaning your house. Regularly. I have a 411 for over a year, and it's been fine. Edit for clarity
Blue air junk? I have been using blue air for a decade and got one for each of my staff conference rooms during the COVID response - none of us got sick and we were in person for over a year. These things have been running for years daily and I’m a fan…
We have been using Blue Air for over a decade and have been happy with them. Have the 411, the pure fan, and our first one the 400. Had a couple fan issues over the years but customer service has been good so far.
I think anything name brand with a hepa filter will be fine for you. a small one is fine if its for a bedroom. I adopted a cat and my room began to smell like a petsmart. I was lucky enough to find a $100 air purifier on Facebook market for like 20 bucks, my room smells completely clean and neutral now. I firmly believe its a big difference and helps make your room a more enjoyable space. if you dont wanna do any browsing, I use the blue 411 and I like it a lot.
I have a 411 and it died (wouldn’t run, connect to anything, blinking red light). Their customer support was very bad, multiple times just stopped responding to me until it was out of warranty. Because I had old case numbers they eventually admitted it was broken and reported within warranty and replaced it, but I wished I’d’ve got it from Costco so I could just return it there instead.
Another vote for Blueair. I’ve had a 411 and two smaller ones running continuously for a few years now and they help with dust, dander, and lessening mildew. The app is pretty cool. The soft white noise is perfect for sleeping. Plus I run HVAC filtration every hour.
Unfortunatly, i had at Blueair 411 formabout 5 years in the bedroom. It just stopped working. So I replaced it with the newer 511
I use two different ones: Winx C545 (Costco) and Blueair 411 (Amazon). The latter one served as the forced-air exhaust on my old DIY litter box.
