MUCH quieter. Engineer Wong uses very loud industrial fans. CleanAirKits uses premium whisper quiet high-static-pressure PC fans. And the fans themselves get better each year, as the manufacturers know how many are being used for CR Boxes and for silent PC builds, and have been optimizing not only for turbulence vibrations and low frequency sounds, but also high-pitched wines that may manifest themselves only under certain power scenarios. We own four AirFanta 3Pro units and about ten different units of varying models of CleanAirKits - and they’re all great - but they’re optimized for different circumstances. I’d have to say my favorite portable model of CleanAirKits is the Exhalaron, my favorite for home use - especially bedroom - use is the Luggable XXL, and we love the AirFanta for travel and use hotel rooms l, and even in the trunk space of our SUV for use the car.

It's just as effective as some commercial products that are at least 10 times more expensive. * Quiet solution: Buy a Brisk Box Kit, Tower of Power, or Luggable product from [Clean Air Kits](https://www.cleanairkits.com/). Furnace filters are so much more cost effective than the special proprietary filters used by commercial air purifiers.

Air purifiers based on box fans or PC fans compensate for the lower filter efficiency per pass with more passes per hour. MERV 13 furnace air filters are much more cost effective than HEPA filters. A combination of competition and economies of scale hold down the prices of furnace air filters. Commercial air purifiers use special proprietary filters, which are expensive due to limited production and the manufacturer's monopoly. Worse yet, production of these filters is subject to discontinuation.

The CleanAirKits Luggable will be quieter while producing full rated CADR. This matters a *lot* for an office, because "it's too noisy" is the #1 pretext used by officemates for turning down or turning off an air purifier. The AirFanta shines when you need an easy-to-transport and compact-to-store high-CADR purifier for rooms under your personal control. But in any venue where you require the ongoing cooperation and assent of others just to keep the purifier on, you'll want the quietest solution possible.
