Yeah, as long as you don't mind some easy assembly (they typically take me 30 minutes), the ones that use computer fans and MERV 13 furnace filters are the best performing - they are quiet, have a high clean air delivery rate, and have a large air envelope. Having a big air envelope means they move more air around, and so particulates in the air get removed more quickly, since the air is moving around more. I have a bunch of the [CleanAirKits Luggables](https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables), they are great. There is also the [Nukit Tempest](https://cybernightmarket.com/products/the-nukit-tempest-pro-complete-air-purifier-kit-usa), although the tariffs have made it more expensive. 2000 square feet is a LOT. With four of the XL Ultra Luggables, you'd have 1333 cfm of smoke CADR, which is the recommended amount according to AHAM. That said, you could start with one or two of them, and see whether that's enough for your space. More units also helps since the reach of any single unit is limited. These type of air cleaners are by far cheaper to run than HEPA-based cleaners. You have to take into account the cost of replacement filters and the electricity cost. HEPA cleaners use a lot more electricity.

Best youtube video to help you learn about this topic: https://youtu.be/gaQTYrisieA?si=Oi5GVFYPETPBXTOs I ended up getting three of these: Luggables – CleanAirKits https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables These use two 20x30x1 MERV13 filters each, and are VERY QUIET! And three of these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1701909167/model-b-wall-fan-edition I got the Model B sized for 20x30x1 inch filters (MERV13) and the AC Infinity S14 fan. We were in a very leaky house that was getting a lot of air pollution indoors. It took all of those fans to remove the PM2.5 levels down to negligible levels. At our current house, which is much better sealed, we're just running one of the Model Bs and the three luggables from CleanAirKits, and the PM2.5 levels are fine. I have AirGradient Indoor and Outdoor monitors to check on the PM2.5 levels, etc. P.S., the 3M MERV13 Filtrete filters (1900 MPR) are the best.

She's just doing the box fan Corsi-Rosenthal air cleaner. There's a zillion articles and Youtube videos about the Corsi-Rosenthal box fan air cleaners. The Model B is just a very high end version of this concept. . If you want absolute quiet, the computer fan CleanAirKit luggables are very efficient and quiet

r/AirQualityWhat's the best pick of home air purifier that you've ever used for improving indoor air quality?

The key here is that you want something that is quiet, puts out a large amount of airflow, and where the filters are effective, non-proprietary, easy to find and not too expensive to replace. And so I've become a huge convert to the idea of fan designs mated with MERV 13 HVAC filters, which fall into the general heading of Corsi-Rosenthal air filters. Here's a repost of an earlier reply I had made on this forum: Best youtube video to help you learn about this topic: [https://youtu.be/gaQTYrisieA?si=Oi5GVFYPETPBXTOs](https://youtu.be/gaQTYrisieA?si=Oi5GVFYPETPBXTOs) I ended up getting three of these: Luggables – CleanAirKits   [Luggables – CleanAirKits](https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables) These use two 20x30x1 MERV13 filters each, and are VERY QUIET! you don't want to mitigate the virus, but only VOC, germs, dust, pollen and smell? I ask because the recommandation is very different, to be in conformity with Ashrae 241 for prevention of infections. If so, one of the best air purifier for classroom is Luggable XL 7 Sickleflow, because of the low noise level (wich is very important in a classroom). you will have to install more than one in the class. In a classeroom you need 42 cfm/pers X 40 per = 1680 cfm in ventilation (less the fresh air ventilation alresdy in place). the Luggable XL 7 sickleflow has dust CADR of 323 cfm

I purchased 2 Luggables — a 5-fan and a 7-fan. They’re both great. I gave the 5-fan to a relative who works with kids in an elementary school, so I treated myself to a 7-fan as a replacement. I resisted spending so much money on something so DIY-looking and potentially vulnerable, but it’s safe in my house. The Luggables are super quiet while having great CADR. Seriously, it’s hardly noticeable at all in my living room. Initially, I had to put my hand over the fans to be sure it was on. With most other purifiers that I have(Honeywell HPA 304, an old Hunter HEPATech, and box fan CR Boxes), their sound is evident on fan speed 2. I temporarily had a 20”x20”x2” CR Box in the room and had to keep raising the volume on my tv. No need with the Luggables. Unlike the other poster, I think the dry fit of the filters is fine and see no need to tape it up — after years of DIY CR Boxes, I was ready to replace one of them with something a little more streamlined (I still have a 16”x20”x2” at work, a retired 20”x20”2” that I bring out when a technician is in the house, and a “mini mini” to deal with). If the price and sturdiness don’t bother you, I say go for it. By the way, I found 3M 2500 Series filters at Costco that are so comparatively inexpensive, the savings vs Amazon pricing paid for my basic Costco membership. Another plus for non-proprietary filters. P.S. there are several posts /crboxes where people have made their own version of the luggable. You might find some inspiration to make your own and save a few bucks. But you will end up spending about $100 regardless.

You also have the option of buying a smart plug and plugging a dumb air purifier into it. If you do, I find that the plugs that work with the “Smartlife” app have more scheduling options. Just make sure that your purifier doesn’t have to be turned on via a switch/button on the purifier itself or the smart plug won’t work with it. My CleanAirKits Luggable and DIY CR Boxes work great with smart plugs, but my Honeywell HPA304 doesn’t.

I like the  CleanAirKits “Luggables.”  These are a modified version of the DIY Corsi-Rosenthal boxes that have small footprints and very effective cleaning at near-silent volume. They do have a DIY appearance and would be vulnerable if you sit on them or try to use them as a table — the filters basically give structure to the kit. I like that they use readily available filters that aren’t proprietary (and the other parts are replaceable too). It’s cheaper to assemble the purifier yourself (YouTube videos are available). You can scroll through the available variants (ie 5-fan, 7fan, etc) to see their specs including CFM and decibel levels here - https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables  If you want to make your own version of this to maybe save a bit of money, a few Redditors have posted their results. Here’s their “air mixing” comparison vs. HEPA air purifiers: https://www.cleanairkits.com/blogs/news/can-the-luggable-xxl-mix-large-rooms-better-than-a-large-hepa

I got this one recently. Its great. It has a better CADR than any consumer grade model and virtually no noise since it uses PC fans. r/AirPurifiersAir purifier recommendation Canada - 600-700sqft

I’ve had a bunch of air purifiers, including the same Honeywell you have. This is my favourite. [https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables-international-california-and-canada?variant=45663048270124](https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables-international-california-and-canada?variant=45663048270124) I was a bit hesitant too since it requires some assembly, but I like this more than my Dyson Big+Quiet. The main benefits of these are low noise even at max speed, highest airflow and CADR(Clean Air Delivery Rate), low power consumption, and cheap filter replacement cost since it uses standard Merv 13 HVAC filters. I have it set up in the bedroom, very low noise and it moves so much air, more than the Dyson. If the assembly is a deal breaker for you, I would keep an eye out for a refurbished Dyson Big+Quiet, Ive seen them on best buy Canada for $500-$600( open box or refurbished) Another good option that‘s less expensive is the Blueair 211+. My mom has that for her condo and really likes it. My only gripe about it is it has a built in Ionizer you can’t disable. And many people are concerned that Ionizers create ozone, which is apparently unhealthy. But its definitely a nice looking unit In my opinion

Yeah absolutely.  I don’t mind a little noise, but on some of these air purifiers to get the CADR that makes sense, you need to blast them.  I recently bought a PC fan air purifier from clean air kits. They t won’t win any beauty contests but it moves a tremendous amount of air with very little noise.

Check out cleanairkits.com. Their luggables look sharp and fit the criteria.  But they have slightly louder fans than their Bris box design the bros box isn’t as attractive. No other manufacturer will move the same amount of air at the decibel of these units.  But there is no speed setting, they’re just quiet. Every other purifier will clean less air or be louder and you’ll have to turn down the fan speed.

You’re much better off getting something like the luggable xl 5 fan from cleanairkits. It’s more expensive but takes the 20x25x1 filtrere filters that Costco sells and can get much better cubic feet per minute clean air than this. House fresh also has a lot of great reviews if you’re interested in reading about comparisons. https://housefresh.com

[CleanAirKits](https://www.cleanairkits.com/) uses fans from PCs, which are quieter than most other fans. They don't meet your "under $150" criterion though. I have their [5-fan luggable](https://www.cleanairkits.com/products/luggables) that was $199 not including the two MERV13 filters that I got separately from Lowes.

Iqair is a great option. Have one in our bedroom with our 5 month old baby. But can only run it on setting 2 (75 cfm) without going above 50 db. We also have a luggable xl cr box in the bedroom to get more filtration without increasing the sound in the room. We have a Smart Air Blast in the living room and it’s a a quiet beast. Pushes a ton of air, however it’s power hungry. I’m also a fan of the Alens for how they sound and Coway AirMegas.

Hey, you and I are in the same boat. I had a baby boy at 31 weeks, now almost 5 month adjusted, and I went down the air quality rabbit hole hard. I want to do whatever I can to keep him healthy and developing normally. He sleeps with us in our room right now. I have a clean air kits luggable xl pc fan cr box and a IQair Health Pro Plus running on setting 2. Both run 24/7. This gives me a lot of air changes per hour and some gas filtration, while staying below 50 decibels. In the rest of the house, I have more luggable xls, smart air blast, iqair gc and GCX, Coway 400 and 300, and an Alen 25i. I think it’s important to get a standalone air quality monitor like the air gradient one or purple air zen. I run the hvac blower fan 24/7 to circulate air through the house. I also open windows every morning and bring in fresh air to keep CO2 low. I don’t know what your budget is, but you can make your own cr boxes for really cheap and then throw a few nice hepa air purifiers on top. I bought all the expensive units used (iqair, Coway, smart air) and saved a ton of money. Just gave them a good cleaning and new filters. Another important thing is to always run your kitchen hood vent when cooking I’ve been keeping my house between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit so that he sleeps his best and relative humidity between 45-55%. I have a Midea Cube dehumidifier I run when it’s really humid out and humidity in the house gets above 60%. I also vaccum and mop the floors all the time now. We have an old dog that sheds a lot and the floors get covered in hair if I don’t stay on top of it. I kindof rambled but that’s just been what I have been doing and what purifiers I bought to give you some ideas and things to look into.
