"The sensors are amazing. ... Yes whenever I cook or smoke they instantly kick on and work really well."

"I got a Coway AirMega because my apartment used to smell like my stinky chihuahua no matter what I did, and the smell is gone. ... Like when I come back to my apartment and open the door, instead of being like "wow, that is what I've been noseblind to?!" it smells the same as the hallway."

"Last year there were wildfires nearby and the airmega kicked itself into high gear (I keep it on auto), so I do really trust that it’s actually doing something."

"The sensors are amazing. ... Yes whenever I cook or smoke they instantly kick on and work really well."

"great to put it on eco mode , as it detects poor air quality it automatically switches modes to higher setting and shows it as purple or red and once air is back to being good it goes back to eco mode and shows blue."

"the filter costs have you replacing filters every 3 or 4 months with full use."

"so are Coway and Blue Air when you add up the cumulative price of filters. ... And, I find I need filter replacements much more often than recommended further increasing the cost."

"Filters are $$$."

"All of the conventional options recommended won’t cut it if you’re being serious. ... I have a few coway airmegas and blueairs and they don’t do much for real VOCs/smoke. ... My airmega has like 1lb of carbon, I’d recommend an allerair- I’ve got two airmedic 6 pro and the difference is remarkable. I think they have 25+ lbs of carbon."

"tried the Conway and there was so much plastic offgassing. I returned it.."

"Bro the coway 150 keeps switching from yellow to green every 2 minutes which is really annoying. ... Atleast an air purifier should remain in the same level for atleast 5-10 minutes when all the doors are completely closed and there isn't any air entry from outside. ... The auto mode is very unstable. ... I have also checked with aqi meter, the speed keeps switching when the aqi is same! ... No because of inconsistent auto mode"

"The air purifier in the living room freaks out every time pest control sprays our patio area."

"mine has started some mechanical ticking sound when the machine is in auto mode and light is green or blue. However it is a very light and little ticking that you can only hear if you place your ears near the fan. ... It comes only when fan runs at its lower and lowest levels, feels like something inside the fan setup is slamming."

"Have used air mega 150, it fails in a city like Delhi. ... one needs 2 of these in a 100sqft room in Delhi. ... Using Coway mega 150 plus Honrywell air V5 simultaneously in a 100 sqft closed room. Fail to go below 70 AQI from 10pm to 7am Delhi ... don't like TWO working in 100sqft to do just that."

I suggest Coway TrueHEPA ones. Less bells and whistles. More good performance.

I tossed up with the Vital 200S and Coway Airmega 150. Went with Coway. Great brand reputation and True HEPA.

Noise is an important aspect to consider. A noisy filter will likely never be on. It's not just about sound level. It's about how annoying/soothing the sound your filter produces is. On this aspect I l like Coway's airmega 150 and 240. It's also easy to find replacement filters for these models.

I bought two air purifiers just last week after reading this sub! Coway 150 and ap-1512HH(W), they were on sale on Amazon.ca and I read somewhere I can use the carbon pellet filter from the AP-1512HHS in the non S version. So far so good!

Hey The Coway Airmega 150 is a solid unit, but it only has a CADR of 234 m³/h. For a 4.8 ACH, it's perfect for your room, but only if you run it at full speed. If you want to target a lower ACH, go for it, since most probably you won't run it on max speed. What I generally recommend is buying something way more powerful than what you need. Here's why: Purifiers with higher CADR than what you need mean you can run them on lower speeds to achieve the same CADR of a smaller one. This results in less noise, less mechanical stress on the purifier, and a longer life of the fans and longer filter lifespan. (The filter lifespan of ~1 year is calculated in a room suitable for the purifier. If you get a bigger purifier for a smaller room and run it on low speeds aka night mode or speed 1 instead of a normal usage you'll get more life out of the filter as well which translates to less frequent filter changes so $$ saved as well in the longer run) As per what I recommend, I would say go for at least a 350-400 m³/h CADR unit that provides a good noise level (look at both sleep mode and turbo noise) and power consumption. I am personally using a Philips PureProtect 3200 in my room (same room size as yours), but only because I caught it on sale for $206 usd. Since it has a whopping CADR of 520 m³/h my purifier is never leaving the sleep mode setting, and I can barely hear it. And for that CADR it is quieter on both sleep mode (15 dB vs 20 dB) and turbo ( 47.5 dB vs 48.3 dB) than an Airmega 150 while outputting 2.22x the performance of the Coway unit. Plus app support and temperature + humidity sensors if you like the extra stuff. This is the type of deal you want to be looking for. See what's up for sale in your country.

So after spending more time looking into purifiers I went for something else. I bought a Coway Airmega 150 (for our attic bedroom) and a Coway Airmega 300s for downstairs. Both had 20% discount on their website and The 2 devices cost me less than the Daikin . Hopefully I made a good choice 😅

I’m immunocompromised and always have an air purifier (Coway AirMega 150) running next to my lectern. It’s nearly silent on the lowest setting. I also have a larger one at home (250?) that is EXTREMELY loud, so I wouldn’t recommend a big one. The building I teach in is pretty modern, so I have to assume that the ventilation is quite good even though my classroom doesn’t have any exterior windows. I’ve been told many times I’m quiet/soft spoken (despite feeling like I’m always yelling), so masking while teaching is out of the question for me. I also tell my students on the first day of class that I am immunocompromised and therefore that if I do get sick, I am likely to get very sick and be gone for several weeks (sometimes I include the fact that my body literally cannot make antibodies, which is super fun). This info seems to stick with them, as I’ve had many students email me to let me know they’re sick and staying home because they remembered what I said. I am also pleasantly surprised that most students wear a mask for a few days when they return. I never mention masks at all and have never asked for anyone to wear them, fwiw. I also have a couple bottles of hand sanitizer in the room and use it very, very frequently (literally any time I touch a shared surface). I follow the same precautions in my office. I’ve had COVID three times, and two of the three times it was during the summer (I don’t teach summers). The third time I’m 99% sure I got it at a concert. Your mileage may vary, but I feel like my strategies work fine for me and at the very least give me peace of mind.

I use Coway from Amazon. So far I have the Airmega 100 for my bedroom and an Airmega 150 for the living area. Might get one more for my office at some point. ETA: I have severe allergies and migraines and I have noticed an improvement in both. I wake up with a clear nose and have had way fewer migraines.

I'd go for a Coway or a Winix. They both perform well cost/price-wise. Depending on the model, both brands have options with carbon filters (for bad smells). I own a Coway Airmega 150 and Winix Zero Pro. They've both been going strong without any issues for 4 years now.

r/Gent • Gent air quality is quite bad on a regular basis (like this morning). Is anyone using an air purifier in their home? Recommendations? ->
