"great to put it on eco mode , as it detects poor air quality it automatically switches modes to higher setting and shows it as purple or red and once air is back to being good it goes back to eco mode and shows blue."

Definitely return it and buy the new Winix 5510 or 5500-2. If you have a bigger space, the Coway Airmega 350/450 is amazing.
Winix 5510 for the smaller rooms. Coway Airmega 350 for large wide open spaces.
Coway Airmega 350, Winix 5500-2 and Coway Airmega 1512.
I have a 2,400 sq ft raised ranch. I run 2 x Winix 5500-2 and 1 x Coway Airmega 350. Airmega 350 is my favorite but its also 2x the price. Winix 5500-2 works great too.
Coway Airmega 350 has been great.
Its overall design and aesthetic, it filters 2,800 sq ft an hour. It has a 3 in 1 filter design. 360 degree filtration due to the base. And best of all, no ozone.
The winix and coway air intake is from the front. You want an air purifier oversized. Then you can keep it on a lower fan speed and still purify the area every hour. My house is 2,400 sq ft. I run 1 x Coway Airmega 350 which is rated for 2,600 sq ft. Plus 2 x winix 5500-2. 1 in the basement and 1 in my bedroom.
Coway Airmega 350 has been amazing.
Sorry. 2 x Winix 5500-2. And the Coway Airmega 350.
I'd look at the new Winix 5510 or Coway Airmega 1512. I have 2 x Winix 5500-2 and 1 x Coway Airmega 350 in my house. They work great.
Coway Airmega 350/450 is amazing.
Id get the Coway Airmega 350/450 for the main living space. The more changes per hour the better. Winix 5510 for smaller rooms and bedrooms.
I’ve been impressed with how quiet Coway has been. I’ve got the Airmega 350, but I’ve heard most of their models are pretty silent. What I’ve found too is that even on higher settings, and it being louder, the noise is more of a deeper “woosh” rather than a higher pitch “wish” sound (if that makes sense).
I’ve got the 350, and vacuumed it for the first time a week ago or so. Very easy, no issues, and took about 60seconds. Slapped that bad boy back into the machine and turned it back on. I’d also recommend vacuuming the outside grills of the 350 too as I found dust can sometimes collect between the grooves too. Again super easy and quick to do.
Im between the winix t810 and the coway 350 or 450. Its so hard to know what to pick haha
Ended up just ordering a used like new 350 and 450 for pretty cheap. I have a small apartment anyway. Gonna put 350 in my bedroom and 450 in living/dining/kitchen lol
I have a coway airmega 350 and for the first day it smelled like a new car or a ‘fresh’ kind of scent when it ran on high AND I stood directly over the top of it with the air hitting me. After the second day the slight smell was gone.
For nurseries that size, I’d go with the Coway Airmega 350 and run it on low. It's quiet and you can swap in the Intense Smoke+ filters for extra VOC gas capture
The 350 is on sale right now and is excellent
So I literally just bought the Airmega 350 on Amazon and immediately regretted since I can't find the replacement filters for sale anywhere. Like you said, maybe it's fairly new and filters are not released yet. I tried to reach out to coway multiple times via email as well as phone (waited over 30 mins) and haven't had any luck hearing back from anyone 😫. How are you guys liking the Airmega 350? Do you think I should return it for the 450 or just start using and wait it out (hopefully) for the filters? The space I'm using it for is in the living/kitchen/dining area and covers around 2000sqft.
I was going to suggest, like many top contributors here do, getting one purifier per floor and one for the bedroom — I had three AP-1512HHs in mind. But since you mentioned setting up a wedding registry, you might consider going with two Airmega 250S units and one Airmega 350 instead. Congratulations on your wedding, by the way!
This is what i ended up on. The 350 does up to 2640 sq ft and has amazing reviews and lots of comparison videos on YouTube. It wasn't cheap but its made a huge difference in our air quality with dogs, a fire place and living on a farm.
The 2,640 sq. ft. coverage figure is for 1 Air Change per Hour (ACH). This is too low. Generally you want minimum of 4.8-5 ACH. But I think CADRs are the more important metric. The Airmega 350 is low on Dust and Smoke CADRs. Not a huge fan of the integrated pre-filter either; usually a separate permanent pre-filter is better.
Your math is correct. And if you're super sensitive to allergens, we often recommend even higher CADRs. Of course if you had pristine air, there would be no need for a purifier. Normally I would suggest the [Coway Airmega 400](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-400), but certainly **not** at its current full price. Coway's sales happen frequently enough - 2024's Black Friday saw the price drop to $349. And normally the full price doesn't stick around for long anyways. The [Coway Airmega 350](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-350) is definitely better value for CADRs, more energy efficient, and has a cheaper filter. However, it does have an integrated pre-filter and a shorter warranty period than the Airmega 400. I don't know how the two models compare in terms of sound levels. If you need something right away, you could build one large or multiple Corsi-Rosenthal boxes with [MERV](https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality-iaq/what-merv-rating) 13/14 furnace filters and PC fans. CADRS will depend upon airflow speed, # of PC fans, # of filters, and filter size. You may want to add a fine mesh pre-filter to prevent coarse particulates from clogging the MERV filters. A guide: [https://itsairborne.com/pc-fan-corsi-rosenthal-guide-a611dabf7e0c](https://itsairborne.com/pc-fan-corsi-rosenthal-guide-a611dabf7e0c) Another solution may be the [AirFanta 3Pro](https://air-fanta.com/products/airfanta-3pro). It uses Efficient Particulate Air (EPA) E11 filters, which is two filter classes below HEPA H13. Top composite CADR is 413 CFM for the CARB-certified edition. Drawback: it does not have a fine mesh pre-filter, but rather metal grating. The Black Friday deal means 10% off, so the 3Pro is currently $144.00.
Purifiers aren't good at reducing *visible* dust and pet hair. Both are large and heavy compared to "invisible" pollutants like PM10, PM2.5, and PM0.1. [AHAM's 2/3 rule](https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/) recommends CADRs be *at least* 2/3 of your room's area (assuming an 8 ft. ceiling). However, people with allergies or asthma should aim for even higher CADRs. Your "adjusted" square footage based on cubic volume is 229 sq. ft. Minimum CADRs would be 153 CFM, I would increase this to 250 CFM or so. Neither model uses an ionizer. The [Coway Airmega 350](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-350) has higher top CADRs and is more energy efficient (watt per CADR) than the Airmega 400. The [Airmega 400](https://cowaymega.ca/products/airmega-400) has a [longer warranty](https://cowaymega.ca/pages/warranty-registration) (5 years), separate permanent pre-filters, and may be somewhat quieter than the Airmega 350. The Airmega 350's "Fresh Starter" filter will likely be cheaper than the Airmega 400's filter set. There may be two alternative replacement filters for the Airmega 350 as well. In the USA, the Airmega 350's "Fresh Starter" filter is $79.00 USD at full price. The Airmega 350 seems to have good reviews thus far, but it was released earlier this year in Canada. The Airmega 400 has a great track record which is why it's recommended frequently here. I would lean toward the Airmega 400. But the Airmega 350 should be very good too.
I think the separate permanent pre-filter on the Airmega 250 is better. And the Airmega 250 has been around longer too with very good reviews by and large. But otherwise, it really depends on the room size and whether you need quiet operation. Even if the Airmega 350 were too loud on Turbo, its lower settings probably provide superior CADRs than the Airmega 250's lower settings.
You probably won't be at a disadvantage in keeping the Airmega 350. Yes on the energy efficiency. Regarding the filter: the Airmega 350 filter media order for air intake is an integrated pre-filter → pleated HEPA → activated carbon. The Airmega 250's filter media order is separate permanent pre-filter → activated carbon → HEPA pleated media. This is the preferred order, as the carbon portion can catch some particulates before they reach the HEPA media. And *if* any carbon dust is emitted, the HEPA media should capture it. Assuming the Airmega 350's filter has more HEPA media surface area, then yes, I'd expect it to last longer.
