"the filters are a $15 replacement once a year. ... Search Amazon - they have 2-packs for $30 — those are aftermarket, which I use. But even the branded ones are only $40 for two."

"We’ve also had terrible Smokey days from the Canadian wildfires in my area and when I last replaced my filter, it was almost black so it was working hard!"

"Last year there were wildfires nearby and the airmega kicked itself into high gear (I keep it on auto), so I do really trust that it’s actually doing something."

"The sensors are amazing. ... Yes whenever I cook or smoke they instantly kick on and work really well."

"great to put it on eco mode , as it detects poor air quality it automatically switches modes to higher setting and shows it as purple or red and once air is back to being good it goes back to eco mode and shows blue."

"Even though the 450 has higher CADR technically I think it might be because of the Turbo mode, which imo is not really usable as it can only be used when in turbo-only mode."

"when it would turn on to max air purifier it gets pretty loud."

"Turbo is LOUD!"

"All of the conventional options recommended won’t cut it if you’re being serious. ... I have a few coway airmegas and blueairs and they don’t do much for real VOCs/smoke. ... My airmega has like 1lb of carbon, I’d recommend an allerair- I’ve got two airmedic 6 pro and the difference is remarkable. I think they have 25+ lbs of carbon."

"tried the Conway and there was so much plastic offgassing. I returned it.."

"450 is round. New design. Not as good but more trendy. ... Higher claimed CADR. It is round so that number will go down rapidly. ... The VERY SHORT version, although ... there's a sticky ... is that round units are not inferior due to their shape. They're inferior because ALMOST WITHOUT EXCEPTION they have: * No removable pre-filter * Minimal Carbon, placed after the main filter * Deformable main filter * Smaller fans which have to spin faster to move more air therefore have a shorter lifespan * Shorter filter life leading to more costly replacement * Questionable filter efficiency, since it's difficult to manufacture a deformable HEPA filter. Levoit in particular claimed their filters were HEPA but they weren't at the time. They might be now, since they've started shipping them reinforced. * Instructions to VACUUM YOUR FILTERS, which pretty much means they're not HEPA. ... The airmega round units are, unfortunately, no exception."

"so are Coway and Blue Air when you add up the cumulative price of filters. ... And, I find I need filter replacements much more often than recommended further increasing the cost."

"the filter costs have you replacing filters every 3 or 4 months with full use."

"I have two big Airmegas running in fairly small spaces and I can't tell a difference in air quality between when they've been running and when they haven't. ... I don't get what the point is."

"You need one per room, they dont really cover more than a few hundred sq ft."

Think the 350 and 450 just came out recently! 'm a big fan of anything that gives 360 degrees purification on the cylindrical models cause I feel like it sucks in particles better. Also love that the top has an anti-dust grill so I can clean less.

I heard the same! Anyway the default filter lasts for a year so it should be fine for a while.

Theyre definitely worth it, helps my allergies. If I do something small like lightly wipe down my blinds the air purifier can detect the change in the air same as when I change my bed sheets. When I cook its really working. I really have tremendous peace of mind knowing the air I breathe is better for a small investment. It'll sometimes go on turbo unexpectedly. I had only realized why later in the day when I smelled burned barbecue literally a hundred feet away or so when i left my house. If I were you id go on amazon and get a winix t810 for the bedroom. If you have a massive living room like me id get a air mega 450. They look cool too tbh.

The Coway Airmega has a screen that surrounds the filter, I have vacuumed the large particles off this area 3x so far. I have been running this Airmega 450 purifier 24/7 for 11 days using turbo when we leave for the day, #2 speed during the day when we’re home and speed #3 at night, I've never used auto cause it simply slows to a very low speed. The dust accumulation on our hardwood floors may have improved slightly. We’ve been dusting and vacuuming every 3 days in an attempt to conquer the dust in our home.

Funny you ask...We were talking about this earlier in the day! I see a very slight difference in regard to the dust that settles on our hardwood floors. We continue to use HEPA vacuum and dust every 3 days, while we're cleaning we run the Coway 450 on turbo to help "clean" the air before the dust falls to the floor. I would not encourage anyone to make an air purifier to help with dust in their home. We are a retired couple & have no pets, don't burn a fireplace or entertain much. We wish we would have a lighter color on our wood plank flooring - I'd just like to get a handle on the dust in our home.

I just contacted Coway & they still don't have pricing for the 450 filter. It's a nice unit, it's easy to move around with the wheels. But I do wonder if the initial higher cost & filter replacement cost will be worth it down the road.

Wondering the same. Just got the 450 in the mail yesterday from the deal this week, but debating returning it for the 400 instead if there is good enough reason. My main two reasons are: 1. the 450 has a custom round filter, may be hard to replace long term and cost of filter has not been announced. Compared to 400 has pretty standard filter size. 2. Even though the 450 has higher CADR technically I think it might be because of the Turbo mode, which imo is not really usable as it can only be used when in turbo-only mode. So you might end up with higher CADR with the 400 anyways. But this part I'm trying to confirm. Edit: I just ordered the 400 as well and will return one of them, so will literally compare them side by side

Ended up keeping the 400 and returning the 450. I did take some sound and power readings from both at each speed so I might post those later this week

I just received our Coway Airmega 450 today (3/4/25), of course it's to early to determine it's efficiency but I can say it's pretty quiet on the #1 or 2 setting. We've been running it on turbo this first day as I was told when I call into Coway & then we'll place it on auto after 24 hours or so. Turbo is LOUD!

Clean Air Kits isn’t HEPA. Does that matter? Maybe or maybe not. But it’s very specifically NOT HEPA. That said, most of Coway’s lineup has no ionizer. The 250/300/400 are excellent machines. (Avoid 350 and 450 as they are round…)

Definitely return it and buy the new Winix 5510 or 5500-2. If you have a bigger space, the Coway Airmega 350/450 is amazing.

I suggest Coway TrueHEPA ones. Less bells and whistles. More good performance.

Coway and BlueAir are great. Make sure it says "True HEPA," unless you build a corsi-rosenthal box Levoit ones aren't always true hepa.
