If i were re-buying for a large space, id consoder trying to get my hands on the airmega 240 but it seems to be out of stock https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-240 Or the airmega250 https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-250?srsltid=AfmBOopMFwg2kp4uHXLg6CFV-JDBNwspkjiAVJNPEuy2c7nXEakKbirz which is also often sold out apparently. we have an airmega 150 in each bed room and they are awesome https://nl.coway.com/products/airmega-151?srsltid=AfmBOoo63FcMmUk2KnsIu0J6h55Q6nfrxzyrCVz05W6ltykwF44dmMC3q We have the airmega mighty in our large living dining kitchen area https://nl.coway.com/products/airmega-mighty-1?variant=39686230671432 it works well but is uglier than the 240 and 250 that are currently sold out. You can find more information on this sub https://www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/ including threads that will explain what you can and cannot expect from an air filter (not do much heavy dust removal unless you buy units much much larger than the minimum, how to calculate the needed air turnover rate for your case and space, etc...)

The [Coway Airmega 150](https://en.coway.com/products/airmega-151) does have lower CADRs than the [Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH](https://en.coway.com/products/airmega-mighty-1), but the latter is louder. Some find the Mighty too loud on the highest airflow speed. The [Levoit Vital 100S](https://levoit.com/collections/air-purifiers/products/vital-100s-smart-air-purifier) has similar CADRs to the Airmega 150. Do you have a maximum budget and what is your room's size (length x width x height)?

I own a Winix C909 and am very happy with it. But the feedback I've read in this subreddit and seen in reviews is that Coway makes better quality units than Winix. The only Coway purifier quality issues I've seen are rattling/balance issues with the Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH. That and some people complain Coway filters off gas.

Sorry, what "air quality problems"? Can't say we've noticed any, with our 3 air purifiers running 24/7 in a one-bedroom apartment... 😉 (Both of us have pollen allergies and one of us has asthma.) That should answer your question. Seriously, buy an air purifier. Once you feel the difference you'll probably end up getting a few more. We've got two of the medium Coway models (Airmega AP-1512HH or 200M) and a smaller BlueAir. They also help with smells -- bathroom, pet, or cooking. Highly recommend the Coways because they: * Are whisper-quiet on all but the highest setting, and can auto-adjust (though we usually leave them on medium because they get loud if they kick into high). * Move a lot of air for their size * Have filters that last way longer than they're rated for (as long as you clean the prefilter) * You can turn the main light on the purifier off for use in a bedroom at night Tip: it's better to get several medium air purifiers and put one in each room or area rather than getting just one big one.

Don't waste the money on Dyson (they're heinously overpriced). Go with one of the Coway models, you'll get more airflow for your money and the filters last much longer than they're rated for. The Coway AirMega AP-1512HH and AirMega 200M are good picks (have both and like them quite a bit). The Levoit and BlueAir models are good too, but they tend to go through filters quickly and that becomes expensive fast. The prefilters on the Coway models are good at catching particles and dust before they make it to the HEPA filter and clog it, so the HEPA lasts much longer. Also, the activated carbon will absorb smells and chemicals. Also, unless you have a giant wide-open space or really big rooms, it tends to work better getting several mid-sized air purifiers vs. one extra-powerful one. More purifiers means more airflow without a lot of noise. They also do a better job covering multiple rooms, since they're less at the mercy of airflow between rooms.

Happy to help! For what it's worth, the Whirlpool suggestion seems to be a similar design to the Coway (with similar benefits). I just don't have previous experience with it, and the Coways are somewhat cheaper and come up consistently on lists of top air purifier models. Note that for many air purifiers, after 3-5 years you'll spend more on HEPA filters than you do on the purifier itself. That's why it's so valuable to have a design that reduces how often the filters need to be replaced. [Wirecutter by the way was my source on being able to run the filters much longer than they're rated for, and they did a good overall set of reviews](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/)

I have been running a Coway Airmega 200M for about three years now and it genuinely makes a noticeable difference with smoke and cooking odors. The key with smoke is you need a HEPA filter combined with activated carbon because HEPA alone catches particles but the carbon absorbs the volatile compounds causing the smell. In your budget the Coway and the Winix 5500-2 are probably your best bets for actual performance rather than marketing claims. How big is the room you are trying to cover and is the smoke coming from outside or inside?

Here to say Coway airmega! I have two, bought my son one. They are amazing. I also have a DH life labs. I like it fine, but I prefer something that has a pre-filter that gets cleaned frequently which the Coway has. Cleaning the coway pre-filter is super simple and the main filter lasts one year. The filters are pricey, but I feel they are completely worth it. The auto feature genuinely works. If you light a candle, within a couple of minutes, it will kick into high. If you cook something greasy, it turns up. I feel like I know it really is working because it is actually sensing what’s in the air.

We have two of the airmega 250. One in the main space of the house and one in our en suite. We had (son took with him) the 200m. The big difference is the 200 M has a prefilter, a charcoal filter that is replaceable, and the hepa filter Unless you have a very stinky space, I would go with the 250.

I have the Coway Airmega 200M in my office which is approx 10x12. I also have an AirGradient indoor sensor. My particulate readings with the air filter are almost always at 0 for PM2.5, PM0.3 and PM1 readings.
