I’ll break down the knowledge I have to maybe help you make a decision. Most air purifiers are good for either smells, OR dander. You’ll need a ton of activated charcoal to deal with VOC’s. UV lights won’t do much when there’s a HEPA filter already, that’s catching what the UV light would ‘clean’. Smell fresh and clean you need activated charcoal. If you want minimal maintenance you’ll need a TON of it If budget is truly not an issue what so ever, It all depends on the house layout. I would get separate air purifier and air scrubber for the carbon. My recommendation for VOC’s: Amaircare Airwash MultiPro Air Scrubber Heavy VOC Focus 25 lbs Carbon. It has 25 pounds of carbon that will last a long time My recommendation for an air purifier for dander would be the Coway pro X, or any of their air mega Series if you want multiple smaller ones instead. I would not get the round ones, as if you want the hepa filters to actually last a year, you have 0 choice besides vacuuming/washing a pre filter and the round ones don’t have a separate pre filter. The 1512, 300, and 400 are all also great
bought a coway air mega last yr. no complaints, no smells ever :) tried that box fan nonsense-even after sealing all gaps around frame/filter, still mostly recirculated the air right near it. worked terribly (regular 20 buck lasko box fan)
firstly-whatever you want a 'purifier' to filter out has to be able to get to, into and through the device. i've yet to see a consumer level air filter that's strong enough to stir dog hair/dander up off the floor. for dust ? they all suck. i'm in colorado, very dusty area. they all suck. any good filter will clog quickly by definition. remember that ;) having said that, i use a coway 'airmega' in my bedroom and i'm fairly pleased w/ it. has a carbon pad for odors, filters out some dust, smoke, etc. they will all have yearly filter costs-generally anywhere from 50-200 bux/yr., mebbe ? none of them that i've seen are anything to sneeze at. ;-p
I use horse bedding pellets from Tractor Supply, I pour them on the bottom of the litter bin and then put a bunch of hay on top. It works pretty good, someone on here said they found something even better but I forget the name. As far as air purifiers? Absolutely. A great air purifier sucks up so much fur - not perfect, but I vacuum mine every day so it’s easy to see the good work it does. It’s a Coway Mega. Works very nicely. If they’re shedding fur is crazy then they may be shedding, brushing will always make things easier but the purifier is great
Coway air mega has been excellent. Have several units around the house.
I had the Coway air mega, or something like that. It’s a 200 plus rectangle that sits in my storage room cause it does not reduce dust in any way. In my 200 square foot studio, it’s more than enough on paper. Spent 150. Built corsi rosenthal box. With that and my robot vacuum running once a night while I sleep dust is a thing of the past.
Coway has a better reputation than the models Costco carries. Love our Air Mega. Bought directly from Coway at a steep discount. Just have to wait for sales.
Thirding this one!! Our are great
I have a coway air mega and it’s fantastic. I had a blue air prior to coway and it had this whiny sound after couple months of use.
