Oh, fuck no. As an owner of four of these things, they’re some of my most regretted purchases. They have a laughably low CFM, are stupid loud on even medium speeds, develop squeaky bearings within months, the filters are expensive as shit, and the software sucks. Seriously, do not buy one of these. Edit: I have two TP07s, an HP04, and an HP09. They all suck equally.

Look for true HEPA filtration, and formaldehyde filtration. Dyson TP09 or HP09 are amazing, as is their BEAST the new Big+Quiet Formaldehyde purifier. These are very well made and designed purifiers with a true commitment to air quality. Some of these purifiers end up making things worse.

For purifier the Dyson towers with HEPA filters are GOAT. For humidifiers, the large ones I need to keep my place sufficiently humid tend to break after 1\~1.5 years of use regardless of price range.

I feel for you, OP. I am an allergic-to-everything person to the point that I've needed to move homes to get away from paint, varnished wood, carpet, etc. The biggest trigger for me, though, and maybe for you is any centralized heating and cooling system. The systems' filters don't matter - the room's unfiltered air is also being blown in your face. I haven't found a purifier that can offset this problem. I don't use ACs and all my heat is water-based or electric. I experimented with Dyson - if it's the model that provides heating or cooling, there is a chemical in the device that can cause reactions. You can also be sensitive to the material in any carbon filter, like coal. The imperfect journey continues, but I ended up getting a custom purifer from Aller Air and I use it in the same room as a Coway HEPA. One for gas and chemicals, one for particulates. It still doesn't save me completely from my dusty old building, but I can now be confident that it's the only issue. Good luck!

Dyson customer service is crap. I bought the hot and cold one. From the box, it wouldn't track the pollutants in the air when i paired it to my app. I thought since it was a new pairing, i needed to give it a couple days for a reading. I forgot about it. A couple of weeks go by and my wife reminds me that there's still no reading. So I called customer support. We tried trouble shooting it. No go. Then we had a video call and did more trouble shooting. Nada. Then they said I could pay to send it in and they'd take a look at it. I said "over my dead body, it's 2 weeks old!" Then they said they'd pay for shipping. At this point, I was pissed. I said I wanted them to send me a new one and I would send it back. They said no can do. I ended up contacting Amazon and getting a full refund. Yeah, screw Dyson.

I have a hot/cold Dyson that runs daily. I got it in 2020 and if my house were on fire, I would save my fan!

I changed my filter after 2 years so I don’t agree with this. The technician just cleaned it and told me it isn’t as bad and I should continue using it.

I’ve got both a breville (for a medium sized room, cost about $100) and a Dyson hot+cool with purification ($545 on sale at JB now) and both are great and non-wifi!

A critical point often overlooked is that air pollution isn’t just an outdoor problem. Indian homes collect dust, PM2.5, pollen, VOCs from cleaning supplies, and smoke from cooking or incense. If you have allergies, asthma, pets, or live in a high-pollution city, an air purifier isn’t a luxury. it is a necessity. A high CADR air purifier is preferable over other ones. Additionally, use some plants indoors to regulate CO2 and O2 levels due to closed doors. Pick a purifier rated for a larger space than your actual room (e.g., buy a 1000 sq. ft. coverage model for a 500 sq. ft. room). This provides the necessary CADR headroom to quickly tackle sudden pollution spikes. Also, aim for a higher ACH since the AQI is often >100. AHAM/CADR info helps compare air purifier models. Preferably look for a model with good filter availability for long-term usage convenience. The following models are good to purchase, considering the above factors: If high price is not a problem but features such as a fully-sealed HEPA H13 filter (which is a great advantage), oscillation, and entire-room heating, capturing extremely small particles are a priority, [Dyson Air Purifier Hot+Cool](https://amzn.to/3L87KQQ) is a good choice. If you prefer something that's not noisy, easy filter replacement, and an amazing value for money product with a good cleaning rate, you can go for the [Coway 250](https://amzn.to/4ntdeTv). High CADR of 400+ m³/hr. Overall, great balance of performance and low noise (as low as 22 dB). If you're looking for a cheaper, long-lasting option and also quick air purification, you have [Cuckoo Respure](https://amzn.to/4oXxQ7z). High CADR 408 m³/hr. Good mid-range air purifier with value for money for those living in smaller houses, but high-pollution places. Has features such as a copper-infused HEPA filter to neutralize airborne microbes, viruses, and bacteria. [Philips Air Purifier Series 2000](https://amzn.to/3Lcnfr7) for good filtration, available spare parts, and a decent CADR of 380 m³/hr. Good for capturing ultra-fine particles as small as 0.003 microns, making it excellent for specific allergy needs and quiet operation. Focus on Coway's models for the long-term, as their 1.5–2 year filter life will save you significant money over five years compared to models with 6-month filter lifecycles. The effectiveness of DIY kits is a valid question. Yes, scientifically, they are effective. The C-R box is a cube constructed from four high-efficiency MERV 13 furnace filters (or higher) taped around a box fan. Studies show they have a CADR comparable to or better than some commercial purifiers, especially for larger particles. But they are also loud, bulky, and not designed for bedrooms. They are better suited for a large hall or office where noise is less of an issue. Bonus: Combine air purifiers with a [robo vacuum cleaner](https://amzn.to/47zwPwP) to ensure an even better dust-free experience, especially if you live in a very dusty place.
