They don't really work if you have an active infestation. Ive got 4 lg ones in an 800sq ft house and I swear they do almost nothing. We even have this electrostatic filter in the hvac and still I've get systems when the doors close or the AC goes on. I have 2x airmega 200s, germ guardian rated for 900 sq ft, coway with uv rated for 600 sq ft. 2 upstairs and one down. If I were you id try to build the biggest Rosenthal filter or several as they don't get down hall ways or around stairs, etc. The think I don't like is they really tank your electric bill and are very noisy, as they have to stay on high mode.

I used this national allergy website. I got the Dyson and the germ guardian. Honestly I don't think the Dyson is worth the money. https://www.natlallergy.com/

The best bang for buck is germ guardian, and the parts are replaceable if something breaks. They sent us a replacement part for one of our units for free, no official warranty or anything. We have 3 of them that have been running for a decade in our house.

r/AirPurifiersStoner here, the best air purifier for odor/smoke
28 days ago

I have a germ guardian I bought in 2019 that I use in the room with a litter box and it significantly helps with the smell. I've used it before when my wife smoked up the kitchen trying to reverse sear a stream and it also helped a lot with the smoke. I know it's not one of the more suggested ones here but it's worked really well for me

I like my WINIX for these larger particles. It has a cleanable pre filter, charcoal filter and the hepa. I vacuum the pre filter weekly to get the cat fur off. I also use an old germ guardian that was my best buddy in a musty old office I worked. It’s still a great unit just louder like a fan so I use it in the bedroom as white noise now It’s worth mentioning a reminder to change the home furnace filter if you have one. I tend to change mine every 1-3 months during high allergen or fire seasons.

I have quite a few allergies, and when we adopted a dog, they became quite serious to the point I needed puffers and was rediagnosed with asthma after 20 years of no issues. I bought a Germ Guardian for the bedroom and I ran it 24/7. It was a lifesaver. I bought one for the main floor and one for the basement and they have really helped. I highly recommend getting one, at the very least for your sleeping area.

Yes! I got one at first and now we have 3! They work so well. Gets rid of weird smells, room not so stale, air noticeably cleaner. I got germ guardian but the others are different brands my Costco had. For filters, I buy the knock off brand ones that fit in my machines and they work fine but significantly cheaper than brand name filters

r/homeownersTo kind homeowners, the best air purifier? What do you use for home?

I got two germ guardian ones and they help with allergies. I also clean my furniture and vacuum consistently so that helps with any allergies. They are very affordable, at least the models I got are $100 and you can find them on Amazon or big box stores

r/CatAdviceMy boyfriend is allergic to my two cats, what to do?

My ex was allergic to cats, but he also wanted to be around me, so he took allergy medicine. Eventually, he got to where he didn’t need it. But that’s not gonna be the same outcome for everyone, of course. Medicine can work if the allergies aren’t terrible. There’s other forms besides tablets. He made the effort cause he knew how bad I wanted a cat. But, honestly, I don’t tolerate ultimatums like that. “It’s me or the pets” blah blah blah. Pets are like family. For some they’re like kids. Giving an ultimatum is icky. If he’s unwilling to compromise, y’all aren’t compatible, as much as that may suck. I also second getting a purifier, though, regardless of if you keep the guy around lol. Mind has been great, it’s a Germ Guardian. And he could be allergic to the dander, not the hair itself. So idk if tablets work for that.

r/malelivingspaceDo you have an air purifier in your room/condo/apartment? Why?

Yes. I have a germ guardian in my room b/c I have down pillows and a duvet. It cuts down on dust and I like the minimal white noise it provides.
