I just set it up few hours ago and I noticed that, but I'm used to not putting an air purifier next to a wall. It's generally not recommended to do so and last purifer had air intake on all four sides. I forgot the reason you aren't supposed to put purifiers close to the wall, something to do with air flow in general even though the intake is on the front

I'm loving it ! The app is great and simple. Can design your own colors and sequences or go for color to indicate the purity level. And they have a download for laptops that's not advertised! Got a green, blue, and red Christmas theme going on right now on it. Only complaint though - the intake is on one side, the side that doesnt have the lights, and the menu is backwards cause of this too. So I gotta turn my neck, if I'm not around my phone or laptop and can't see the colors depending on where I'm using it.

hey! so in the app you can connect an external govee sensor but i only use the one thats built in so far- and as far as the one thats built into the purifier- it picks up veryyyyy well. If cooking starts, vaccuming, sweeping, or even i believe if I cut on my flat iron it detects smoke, as well as cat hair if one cat jumps, or if a human is walking past causing dust to get into the air. So the fan will kick on higher to clean- but i never ever put an air purifier on Auto- I prefer constant- but the times where it has been on auto, it will automatically crank up. Cool thing I do like about the auto setting when i DID use it- it has subsettings like High Efficiency, auto shut off after 30 minutes of air quality being Excellent, and also being at the quietest sound possible during auto time. The sensor is on the side panel, while the intake is...(and its dumb as hell , technically on the back of the device lmao.- the purifier is.... backwards). So while you can set up pretty lights and a display on the purifer, and christmas themes and what not- the intake is on the opposite side....so no one sees the lights cause its the back of the device that most people would place against a wall or not facing the main part of the room...with the function keys being backward as well. You learn to get used to it though or find a spot . The lights and control panel face away from the intake, sensor on the side. As for the carbon filter- its not one of those plain black types that you can buy to put in lets say- a window ac unit like iv seen some have. If you google "ac unit replacement filter cut to size" into amazon- not those and its not seperated. but the carbon filter is built into the back side of the filter. exactly like this one . this is 100% what the filter looks likes. It has a removeable pre filter stuck on by velcro, then the filter, and the carbon filter portion is built into the back of that filter. I've got 2 Govee's that usually run in low to keep the animal smell down. I'll turn them to high if we're cooking with oil at high temp and they seem to help a lot. I've been running them both in medium with the smoke and I think they help my wife who has very mild asthma.

I have five and will be getting another when the filter lifespan in my Govee purifier runs out. The Thorbolt locks that use the same app are stellar, as well.

I love mine. I have one on each floor. I use govee. It also makes less work on your AC and heating units.

I have both the Govee and the Dreo. Between the two, I think Dreo is a great filter, the filters last longer if you change them when the machines tell you to. The Govee is ok, but the HA integration is meh, changing presets seldom works. The Dreo though, controls smoothly through the settings, even if it portrays them a little weird. I got the Dreo (it’s no my first Dreo product) on a flash sale at Walmart for $79.

Govee. The cost of Levoit in 2025 blow my mind for what you get. Govee2mqtt gets the devices into HA. For the hundred you’ll save from going with others the cost savings justifies it all.

Puppy smell is a lot sometimes. I agree with the other commenter about fresh air. However, I will never discourage someone from getting an air purifier…especially in spring season. My partner and I use a lot of GoVee products and when they started making air purifiers, we took a shot and tried them out. LOVE them. The filters have a removable and washable mesh cover that is great for catching the larger dust particles and pet hair before even making it to the filter. I’ve had my current filter now for 3.5 months and it still has about 50% life left. To note: I do have 3 cats and 1 dog. So less pets may lead to a longer filter life too (less dander).

Hey! So I’m allergic to cats, yet have two of them (I know…), plus hayfever and dust allergy. I got a Govee Air Purifier from Amazon and it’s working wonders for me. Has an app where you can control it too, it has a low and high mode, plus a sleep mode if she’s funny about sound in her sleep. I don’t have it, but there’s an add-on that you can get for it which monitors air quality which may be useful for her! Edit to clarify: she will still need to dust, especially if it’s currently extremely thick dust. The air purifier does what it says on the tin - pulls things from the air, not from surfaces. In my experience, the dust (and fur in my case!) build up on surfaces happens a lot slower with the purifier, which may help in your daughters case, as she wouldn’t have to move things quite as often.

Yeah, but if I’m being honest, I’ve been a bit lazy with it in the past cos disturbing it makes me sneeze like a lunatic; I use a face mask nowadays. I’ve noticed that the build up has happened a lot slower since I got the purifier though. Should have clarified that while OPs daughter absolutely will need to dust, purifier may increase the time between the next time she has to do it again.
