Definitely helps. I put a better quality air filter on my furnace, and have two room size air cleaners, one in the living room, the other in a basement bedroom. They are Honeywell Airgenius air purifiers. They are electrostatic, so somewhat controversial. I grew up with electrostatic air cleaners and prefer them to filter types. https://www.honeywellstore.com/store/products/airgenius-4-air-cleaner-and-odor-reducer-hfd310.htm If you prefer a physical filter, anything HEPA that’s rated for the size of space you have will work. They need regular filter replacements, check the cost of replacement filters before you buy a particular model. If you have forced air heating/cooling, putting a better filter on that will be the best way to clean up your air. If you’re in an apartment or condo, check with your landlord if/how you could do that.
Yes, a hepa filter will most likely help! We use a Honeywell AirGenius, which has a permanent filter - just pop out, rinse, dry, and back in, no need to worry about buying expensive replacements. Available from Canadian stores - Home Hardware and Canadian Tire.
I've never noticed a difference between mine and the hepa filters used at other homes. It is a life saver during allergy season, and has also kept air feeling clean during smoky days over the past few summers.
Which purifier killed the birds?? I have two air genius…hopefully this isn’t the one, I run them all the time and have never noticed issues with my babies. Finches canaries cockatiels American toads and fire belly toads
Honeywell air genius, I have two…the washable filter and replaceable pre filters (affordable) make things easy for me. Be sure you get a purifier that has been around for a bit. I got a series of less expensive ones when I was younger and they kept discontinuing the replacement filters
I love the ugly-ass Honeywell tower one i have. You can get washable filters too, which is a nice money saver. It's relatively quiet and powerful. Everyone should make at least one Corsi-Rosenthal box though because they are super effective!
I have a huge Honeywell tower that I loved for my old studio apartment, but now that I’m in a large house I honestly think corsi-Rosenthal is the best bang for your buck. They’re incredibly effective, cheap, good for large spaces, and customizable.
