Second this brand – it's best of the best imo! I've got the IQ GC MultiGas, and the difference it makes to the air quality is insane. I had some noticeable chemically smells in the house and the carbon filter sucked it right out.

I invested in an [IQ air](https://www.iqair.com/us/products/air-purifiers/gc-multigas). It’s pricey and a beast of a machine but I live next to the freeway so it feels necessary.

I would overall aim to address the mold problem and deprioritize VOCs unless they’re actively a problem. So that would mean maximizing the amount of hepa filtration within your budget. Ideally a purifier for each bedroom and either a larger unit if the living room / kitchen is an open concept or just do two in that large space. For carbon filters, IQAir is very impactful if you have the budget for the GC Multigas. There are other recommendations like Austin Air. A lot of people don’t feel like the carbon filter has a significant impact, but I know a few chronically ill folks who say it makes a meaningful difference.

Unfortunately I think the activated carbon stuff is just very expensive and I don’t see a way around that, outside of the DYI option. Just to note the Oransi has about 3lbs of carbon in its carbon filter. The IQAir has 12lbs and I believe the AllerAir has even more. If you want to get 4 Oransi’s I can see an argument for more cleaning power due to multiple units but then the price is almost the same. I also think the Oransi replacement filters end up being more expensive on a dollar per lbs of carbon than the other brands you listed I also believe the IQAir GC Multigas and Oransi both have carbon treated with Potassium Permanganate Impregnated Alumina which increases effectiveness in adsorbing some VOCs and pollutants

We rec’d the IQAir Multigas GC yesterday and I ran it in the bedroom all night without no problems. In this short time, the unit has already significantly reduced the overpowering VOC smell in my bedroom and bath. It’s a big unit, it’s as tall as my hip! I have the fans turned all the way up and it’s not noisy to me but I also don’t mind that sound of a fan going, others might not feel the same. So far, I’m super impressed and think it was worth the cost.

I agree, I have an IQAir multigas GC and an Airpura G700. They both work incredibly well and I highly recommend both, but I prefer the IQAir due to less noise and I love to use it with the App. Don’t get me wrong, we have the Airpura cranked in the living room during the wildfire smoke high AQ days and it works incredibly well.

We just moved into a new build that absolutely reeked of VOC’s, and I’m super sensitive. We bought them specifically to tackle wildfire smoke and VOC’s. We put the IQAir in the bedroom because it’s quieter, and the placed the Airpura in the living room/kitchen which smelled the worse by far. I’d say within less than a week 99% of the VOC smell was gone. The Airpura is a mechanical beast and does the job extremely well, I feel like it did the heavy lifting of removing the VOC’s. Just know that it’s louder, and only has an on/off button and a dial to adjust the intensity, that’s it, no bells or whistles. I feel like it’s more for special events like VOC’s or wildfire events rather than a daily use air purifier.

Something like the Cleanairkits if you can get furnace filters where you live or you can consider the airfanta 3 pro. I don’t think CleanAirKits ships to India though but you could make your own since it’s pretty DIY. They both are low cost and offer excellent cadr without being loud. Hepa filters are super loud at their high setting which you need to get the high cadr values. If they are on their low setting, they don’t really do much. If you want, the iqair gc multigas would be the most expensive, nicest air purifier that will offer elite performance. The unit costs a ton though but you get what you pay for. Since it’s a big unit, you could run it on a lower setting so it won’t be so loud and you would still get good performance. The 12 lbs of carbon in it will scrub out harmful gases you might encounter where you live. Their CEO breathed out of the air purifier in a sealed box with a tear gas grenades going off as a marketing stunt haha.

I bought directly from Green Building Supply in Iowa (amazing customer service & super fast!) but don’t see it there now, so I’ve linked to the models at the manufacturer. One of these is the XE https://www.iqair.com/us/products/air-purifiers/gc-multigas https://www.iqair.com/products/air-purifiers/gc-multigas ETA: I have MCS. We keep one in the bedroom, office and main living space. We’ll get the house unit when we move.

I use IQAir GC MultiGas and it works great. You probably need multiple of those. One for each room and living space. If you want something that doesn’t take space, you can consider integrating IQAir PerfectPro as part of your HVAC ducting. Mind you, the filters are astronomically expensive, and you will need to replace them way more frequently than what’s suggested.

[Iqair](https://www.iqair.com/us/products/air-purifiers/gc-multigas) (ships from California) or [allerair](https://allerair.com/products/airmedic-pro-6-ultra?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=7f8d24bda&pr_rec_pid=8225197699&pr_ref_pid=8225328195&pr_seq=uniform&variant=42969115470) (ships from Canada). They have hepa filters and pounds of activated carbon to filter out VOC’s. However, the iqair purifer is much quieter. I recommend getting a [Temtop](https://a.co/d/e6atbsG) air quality monitor to measure particulate matter and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC’s), to ensure the purifier actually works and when to take extra precautions of the air inside/ outside is really bad. I tried both due to the LA wildfires when the smoke was really bad and even now as I live near the fire zone and there are concerns of bad air quality as the cleanup is expected to last 1-2 years. My favorite is the iqair one since it’s quieter and looks nicer, but it has less activated carbon. However, the Temtop monitor doesn’t show any issue filtering out VOC’s. I do live in an 1bedroom apartment however. The allerair is good too, it’s just too loud and the customer service is not as good. For your house , you have to get 1-3 of either of them.

That IQAIR model is a good one for a mixture of particulate and VOC filtration. You can also look at other companies like Austin Air, Aller Air, or essentially any other "steel can" style air purifiers. They'll come with tens of pounds of activated carbon and HEPA filtration but they are loud and expensive. But they are effective.

Pro X does have activated carbon but not a lot. Just a few lbs and they're connected to the HEPA filters meaning if you want to run it under ideal circumstances you'll have to replace the filters when the carbon is full which happens way faster than the HEPA portion. That's one of the nice thing about the IQAIR unit is that it has separate filters. However the PM2.5 particulate is the most immediate danger from the smoke and the Pro X will absolutely breeze through filtering that. It'll probably do ten or more air changes per hour in a room that small.

I’m located in Los Angeles and am looking for the “best” air purifier to eliminate risks from the wildfire smoke. I’d like to spend no more than $1600 if possible. The room we’d like to cover is our nursery where our 4-week old has been staying. The room is small, probably 150 square feet with an 8 or 9 foot ceiling. I was going to purchase the IQAir GC Gas, as recommended by the Buying Guide, but it looks like it’s sold out or no longer available. Is there anything better than that? I suppose I can get the IQAir GC Gas version with smart capabilities but the extra cost seems to not be worth it based on prior posts. But if that’s the best for the price then I can do that Thanks in advance for your help!!

I have Austins and IQAir MuliGas. The Austins were recommended by a clinic which treats individuals with extreme chemical sensitivities. You want a unit where the fan feeds the filters (1st in the chain) to avoid contamination from the fan itself. No filter is going to eliminate all VOCs.

I have a couple of models: Immunity Machine, Healthmate Plus, bedroom machine. There have been some reviews stating that Austins are slower at clearing a room of particulates. My main concern is VOCs and since I run 3-4 filters in each room that isn't a concern for me. Am now testing the immunity machine. Seems to do a much better job with VOCs, although final results will take a while. What is your concern with IQAair?

Unfortunately the most effective purifiers are not cheap. I bought an AirDoctor because the IQAir was too expensive. It didn’t seem to do anything, so I ended up selling it and buying the IQAir in the end. The IQAir MultiGas was most effective (of the IQAir lineup) against VOCs like mycotoxins last I looked. I supplement with Microbalance EC3 candles

If you looking for filter out dust you need the one has big and powerful fan but if you need one to filter out VOC and a microscopic stuff you better of looking for multi layer filter system with HEPA , I have used Coway for dust and Dyson formaldehyde for microscopic and IQAIR multigas for road traffic pollution next to my apartment!

Have worked through all sorts of filters over the years. Quick answers (just did a longer post to another similar question): A - Dyson, no way B - nothing with an ionizer or anything that tries to sell you on electronic or charged particles. C - the ½ or ¼ inch charcoal filters in most purifiers are worthless. If VOCs are the issue, just open some windows. If you can’t, then check out IQair Multigas, and the Austin Air unit with about 30 pounds of charcoal. D - you have to choose between HEPA (most of those on your list), or medical grade like the IQAir. The later cleans MUCH MUCH more, but they cost 3-4x as much (although their replacement filters last a long time.) Good luck and success!

We have the health pro, the compact, and the multi-gas. Wish we hadn’t the compact (was trying to save some bucks) as the health pro is better. We use the multi-gas near the kitchen. They are all great, but we like the health pro the best. Also, if you are focused on VOCs, then you want the multi gas, or AustinAir makes a great one with about 30 pounds of charcoal if memory serves. Not sure about any of these and Voc’s though. But for particulates, viruses, etc, these units are amazing.

This goes against all advice you may otherwise receive in this sub/youtube videos, but I really find the Dyson BP03/BP04 therapeutic as I recover from mold illness. I had a lot of mold in my home and accompanying lung pain and these dysons are the only thing that give me relief. For context, I also bought the IQ qir healthpro plus and IQ air multigas, and these units were not great at helping my symptoms. I think the main difference is that the dyson actually projects the air and cleans the room whereas many other purifiers might have superior filtering technology but they don't actually get the clean air into the room away from the unit.

I use an IqAir GC, Coway Airmega 400s, and Coway Ap1513. I have invested in these over the years and bought them from wholesale or second hand. They are all heavy-duty purifiers, but anything with a hepa filter will do. Make sure if you are on multiple floors... air purifier on each floor. Make sure it's double the sq.ft of the area you want to filter. If it's not enough.. double up.

I have: 1x IqAir with all the add ins and pre filter 1x Austin it 1x Levoit 600S 2x Levoit 300 1x 24x12x2 MERV 12 Filter (corsi style) but with an HVAC box and INLINE fan. All my HVAC return filters use MPR300 filters. I vacuum all the time, and run a robot vacuum multiple times a day. The goal is keeping the dust on the floor from floating UP and ON to elevated surfaces. In return the air filters last longer.

These are the 3 air filters I personally have. Most air filters only get down to 0.3 microns; these get down to 0.003 microns, which captures mold - which is my main concern - as well as viruses, bacteria, etc.  AirDoctor IQAir AirOasis I also have a Levoit that I like but doesn't capture as small of stuff as the ones above.
