So far, it doesn't feel like it's doing anything for the bedroom, and I've had it a few days.ive actually been waking up itchier than when I did not have it in the room. It does not have a hepa filter. Amazon tricked me as well. Also I believe have different devices available for different regions. I also have a Levoit purifier but that one requires a cloud connection to integration with HA, no local options afaik.

FYI HEPA filters are basically marketing BS in the consumer world. Very few filters with "HEPA" in their description are actually capable of meeting HEPA standards. $400 for a 200sqft capable air purifier is crazy. I have a Levoit core-300 for my 100sq ft room and it clears out my vape smoke in a matter of seconds. I believe its possible to get activated charcoal filters for this to help reduce odor, if not you can find activated charcoal sheets or packets to put inside the air path. There's a community supported HA integration for Levoit, but its reliant on the cloud service. You can flash the Core 300 with ESPHome though and have it work completely locally. I also have a Xiaomi Air Purifier 3C, it also relies on a community maintained integration with Xiaomi Miot but it can work locally too, I know cause I have it blocked from internet access and it works fine. There is also a way to flash ESPHome on these, but I haven't tried. I'm using that one in my living room which is somewhere around 800 - 900 sqft but its a double height living room so there's a tremendous amount of volume there. Side note, make sure you've looked at fixing other parts of your house before getting an air purifier. Make sure your AC ducts are clean, and the filter for your AC is working properly. Though don't put a high MERV filter in there unless your air handler is designed for it. You can actually filter more without putting extra stress on your air handler with thicker filters, but in my experience its rare to see units that can hold the thicker filters without modification. Also make sure your windows are sealed properly.

There isn’t anything wrong with Levoit. Lots of people use them without any issue. I am one of those people. Great machine, really makes a difference to the air quality.

I just bought the core 300, non smart version. Early days, but in the couple of weeks that I have been using it, no problems whatsoever and I am really happy with it. As you said, night mode is very quiet.

I have a couple of Levoit air purifiers, really happy with them. After purchasing one for the living room, I decided to buy another one for the bedroom. Core 300 and core 300s.

I have recently purchased a Levoit core 300. Although I have only had it a few weeks, I can honestly say that it has really improved the air quality in my place. Yes it is circular and no, there isn’t any smell from it apart from the ‘new’ smell that you sometimes get from appliances. That being said, I have never had an air purifier before so nothing to compare it to. As I said, I have not had it very long, but I am so pleased with it that I am thinking of buying more. It is definitely a brand for you to consider.

I have recently purchased a Levoit core. Although it is early days, maybe a week or so, the air feels cleaner in the room it is in. I may in the future, purchase one more. I will be purchasing the same brand. No complaints so far.

I have the Levoit Core 300s for Pet, may 3 shih ako sa bahay, di nya totally nakukuha like ung mga hair pero sobrang satisfied kasi it serves its purpose lalo na ung amoy, nawawala talaga lalo na if may pets sa bahay. Goods cya for small to medium room. Madali lang din cya linisin. Cons: may pagkapricey nga lang, nasa 8k nabili ko pero sulit na cya!!

I'm severely allergic to my cat and got a Levoit core 300 with the pet allergy filters! It catches a ton of dust, the filters are relatively inexpensive, and we've had it for over a year and a half with no issues. Definitely helps my allergies imo!

I have two kinds of levoits. For the living room area (open concept, living room/kitchen/dining room so it’s large) we have the Core-300. In our bedrooms (two out of three bedrooms) we have Core-Mini P’s. We also have an aroeve in our office.

Have you tried feeding them Royal Canin? I have 2 cats in a small condo, mine doesn’t have smell. I have Blue air cleaner and levoit pet air cleaner. Also, bentonite cat litter. Edit: RC is known to remove/reduce the smell of cat’s poop and pee.

We have three Levoit Core with the pet filters. Very pleased with them. We do notice that we breathe more easily. When we change the filter, it's amazing how much lint and dust is in it.

Levoit says it has 450 gm vs 300 gm. I asked and they confirmed but I would not use all-in-one filters. Their effectiveness have too many variables that render these compact filter simulations both economically and cleaning ability hard to find suitable. The tiny amount if carbon pellets in Levoit’s 300 smoke filter with a 4 removable pre filters still is unmatched by Winix 5500-2. Which is by far the best solution head to head by miles!

I have a Levoit air purifier, specifically the Core 300. It’s $99, works well, and is nice & quiet. They sell a filter that goes with it made for “pet allergies” specifically, it’s $36 and is described to absorb pet odors and alleviate allergies! I don’t have this, I’m just using the filter it came with for now but I’ll probably consider buying it when the time for replacement comes. The regular filter in the system is still great for dust/pollen/pet dander/etc.

I've lived in basement apartments for years and have always felt the air quality was poor so bought a couple air purifiers for my bedroom and main living area(Levoit Core 300). I definitely feel there's been an improvement. Then at work (old government building) I kept feeling like I was getting ill when I was in office, like the start of a cold but I would be fine the next day or while working from home. Bought a cheaper air purifier (Jafanda JF100) for there and now it doesn't happen. If it gets shut off I feel crappy within a few hours of being there.

We’ve owned two 300’s for the last three years. They were fine for the first 2 1/2. Never had an issue with replacing the filters. They had no smell. Last time I replaced they smelt awful. Contacted the company who was kind enough to send us new ones-same smell. Defeats the purpose if its going to off gas in our home and the smell didn’t go away. I’ll be shopping elsewhere.

Well that’s great for you but I haven’t had the same experience. We had Core 300’s so different series.

Levoit 300 were great until they changed the manufacturing of their filters and now they give off a strong odour. Seems to be a common problem among air purifiers! I ended up going with a Northbox. They are housed with Merv 13 furnace filters, there’s no smell and it’s been the perfect solution for our home. I live in Canada…I believe the US equivalent is Clean Air Kits.

I’ve been running a Levoit Core 300 in my little one’s room and it’s made a noticeable difference.

Levoit removing the HEPA certification from their products was a pretty disappointing development, and we're not gonna say that they're perfect products by any means (any models that claim to lock in VOCs with an activated charcoal filter should be taken with a MASSIVE grain of salt, since most household units don't contain nearly enough material to do that sort of thing). That being said, yeah, we found that most Levoit models provided similar filtration performance to models from other brands that did claim HEPA certification (like the Winix, which we still think is a pretty solid alternative to the Core 600S). We found them to be largely effective units overall, barring the Core 300S, which we found to provide a much lower clean air delivery rate than the basically identical Core 300 due to its less powerful motor.

That's great to hear, you have the good levoit model people usually opt for the 200 or 300. I can tell you from personal expeiernce when I was suffering from dog allergies, I bought 2 levoit core 300's and they didnt make a lick of a difference. It wasn't until I upgraded to 2 winix machines that I finally got relief and it was instant.

Is levoit that bad ? Have three of them. Seemingly doing a good job. But I’m new to the air purifier life.

I have one levoit core 300 I think it is In each bedroom. And a levoit pet in the living room. The sensors I don’t trust fully but they do show an increase in particulates on days that are bad aqi days.. So I feel like they are somewhat accurate. Can’t speak to how well they actually clean the air but I feel like they help. I’d definitely get a couple purifiers for piece of mind. They won’t hurt

That's not a bad deal, especially since it should come with 2 filters. The listing on costco.com shows 2 filters. The Levoit Core 300 may be a slightly better deal. I've had one since Black Friday and so far, it's good. Noise on low is good in my bedroom. My Winix 5300 is almost 14 years old now, so I'm very satisfied with it. The much newer Winix 5500 may be a better choice than the Winix 610 or Levoit Core 300. So if you have the space for it, I would go with the 5500. All of these have reasonable priced replacement filters, so that's good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these three, don't feel compelled to analyze this for another month! Good luck!

I’ve had mine (the Core 300) for over a year and it’s made a big difference, especially with our two cats and dog shedding everywhere. I also noticed I wake up with less congestion in the mornings and there’s way less dust on my shelves now. 

I have a couple of Levoit Pet air purifiers (one is smart, one isn’t and just runs all the time). For us it’s made a world of difference in the amount of dust accumulation, removing stray hair from the air, etc. Even the HVAC filters look less dirty when it comes time to change them. The downside is the cost of having to buy filters for them a couple of times a year. But, after trying to go without them for a month- we just can’t. The smart one is a Levoit Core 300. Probably $150ish. The older dumb one that runs all of the time is a core p350. Probably $100 ish about 5 years ago. But, they both work great. The white noise is nice too.

Levoit is loud for sure - the 200 is also not gonna be big enough; they say it filters 1800sqft/hr, and ideally your filter will process the air 4x/hr (so the 200s would be good for ~450sqft) I personally (in a 330sqft studio) have a levoit core 200 in the bathroom (where the litter box is) and a core 300 in the main room. The 200 is loud enough (on the lowest setting) that it sounds like the heater or bathroom fan is running. I’d recommend focusing on the rooms with the litter boxes, before worrying about the bigger spaces

I’m anti-Levoit right now after previously being a fan of their stuff - I had a Levoit Core 300 that developed a fan whine after a year. Went through the RMA process and they sent me a new one, which developed the same noise within a few months. I have several larger Honeywell purifiers throughout the house which have lasted several years, just wanted a smaller one for this smaller less-used room - been running a Blueair 511 in there for the past 6 months and it seems good so far, and very quiet.

I really like the medium Clorox one. I got the 300 Leviot and it smelled like plastic air coming out. Terrible. The shark ones come with these weird scented things.

Hi! Late to the game here, but I really like the Austin Air bedroom machine! It has like a five stage filter system with a true hepa filter and carbon filter. It also does not off gas anything AND what I really love is that you only have the change the filter every five years! So while it’s expensive I feel it pays off…I have really bad allergies plus two dogs, and I do feel using an air purifier really helps me! I’ve also had a Levoit 300 core before and that’s a smaller one and is less powerful and it still helped a lot. Idk if this would be helpful, but I did some [research on diff air purifiers](https://www.cleanandhonest.com/blog/best-air-purifier-hepa-mold-allergies-more) if this helps you make a decision :)

Hi! I have had the Leviot core 300 and I do think it makes a dent in my allergies! I have bad allergies plus two dogs and I always react horribly to pollen in the spring. It def helps a bit. But the Austin Air bedroom machine seems to reallyyyy work. It’s more expensive but you do only have to change the filter every five years which felt worth it to me. It has like a five filter system with a true HEPA and carbon filter and all the bells and whistles. But like others have said…there’s lots of options and best is relative to what your need exactly. I’ve liked Levoit and felt it makes a difference and they have models that are cheaper around $160 or so. Just make sure you choose one with a TRUE HEPA filter, not a “HEPA like” one. It’s not the same. And HEPA is what filters for stuff like allergens and pollen, pet dander etc. I’ve also really liked Austin air bedroom machine. It’s on the more expensive side but has all the bells and whistles but it is around $1k :( that one seriously makes a dent. Also heard good things about airdoctor but haven’t personally tried it and it’s also more expensive. I've got a Coway AirMega in the LR and it's great. In the master BR I've got a Levoit Vital 100 which someone gifted to me and it works well enough. I have a Levoit Core 300 in the smaller bedroom; the space is within the specs but it feels a little small if I need to keep it running on medium... a larger unit running on low might be better. I think they say the 300 is also the most expensive to run, almost 2x the Coway given the CFM.

The "Core" series (round ones) are definitively NOT HEPA. They still clean air, but if the certification is important to you, they definitely failed to get certified and misled their customers. Their "Vital" series (rectangular) is still HEPA, but they've backed off from marketing it that way due to their legal woes.

So… I don’t know who told you that you only had to replace the filters once a year but 90 days is optimistic for a Levoit Core. And washable filters are a terrible idea, nobody makes a good washable filter. Just replace the Levoit filter whenever it gets clogged up.

Yeah sorry if that seemed overly snarky but basically - although most people have stuff in their air, it’s not clear that everyone needs an air purifier. The first question I always ask is what problem you’re trying to solve - if the answer is (as it sounds like) “well I must have stuff in my air”, then I advise you to get a very basic unit and run it in your bedroom with the door closed to see if you notice a meaningful difference. At the $100 price point you could get a Levoit Core 300, of course we tend to recommend jumping up to $150 and getting a Coway Mighty or Winix. But without knowing your actual air composition or any health issues or concerns, all we can do is recommend a general purpose unit. And honestly it may or may not even be necessary.

I’d yank the Levoit units off this list unless cost is your biggest driver. While the Everest air is a good unit, the core is just not. It will clean air at first but it is cheap and the filter cost will add up over time. The lack of real pre-filters really kills these things. From your list, Medify is excellent. As is Coway 400. IQ Air will filter better than any of these units… but moves a lot less air doing so. I own one and I love it but I fully admit it lacks airflow and is VERY expensive. Alen is also good, you can optionally equip them with extra carbon which is nice. You won’t regret any of these purchases tbh.

1. You don’t really want an app. It is t useful in any way. Why? Because the sensor on the unit isn’t accurate, so the app won’t really tell you if your air is clean. Also because the only way to clean air is to run the unit on a constant speed 24/7. So unless your use case is very specific (vacation home, away for long periods, etc.) then an app isn’t helpful. 2. Shark is junk. Levoit cleans air just fine but is not HEPA, if that matters. Blue air is the best of the three, also isn’t HEPA but has a static generator which bothers some people. 3. Consider winix or Coway. They’re better in every way.

They’re fine. HEPA is better first pass filtration but the Levoit units clean air pretty well. They just wear out their filters sooner. I don’t love them but if I had 4 I wouldn’t throw them out! Yea I own an IQ Air but I don’t think you need one. Most people do fine with a $150 Coway.

We are using several Levoit air purifiers around the house. A Core 300 S will be PLENTY for your bedroom. Get a fan seperately gives you more flexibility. I didnt like the Dyson for sleeping, it makes a high pitched noise i can hear. the Levoit filter i can not hear on the lower speeds and I have a fan with fabric blades. It makes pretty even, lower pitched noise almost like a low white noise. Very nice to fall asleep to.

Levoit Vital 200s gets great reviews. I read a ton of this stuff and I don't see people reporting those units malfunctioning. Over the years, yes, I've seen reports of issues with a whining noise on some units (the 300 and 400) but that was years ago and Levoit addressed it and also offered replacements. They also have good service. I have a Core 300 that is still going from 2020. A Core 300s. And most recently a Vital 100s and Vital 200s. If sized right, these latter two are what you should look at - not the Core units. Those were good in their day, but the Vital units are superior. As for the Hepa question, yes the Vital units are, on sleep mode, and the "scandal" about all of that was drummed up by a competitor - who makes inferior units.

I have asthma and allergies really bad from having 2 cats. I have 2 levoit 600 and 1 levoit 300. They will definitely help your asthma and allergies. Also talk to your doctor about a daily inhaler or an injection called dupixent. The dupixent is a complete game changer it completely alleviates allergies and asthma. For the cats I suggest getting them on liveclear from purina. My cats were sending me to the hospital every two weeks. I stopped taking the dupixent for a while and I'm super regretting it! I should be back on it in a week! I haven't been able to breathe in my house which has made sleeping a nightmare. So your not alone if this what your experiencing.

We have 2 Levoits, 400 in the family room and 300 in the bedroom. Happy with them.

Hands down the coway, which is the wirecutter pick and works so great (we have two). Runner up is the Levoit 300, we have two of those as well. They are cheaper and not hepa certified but theoretically work pretty similarly, Levoit is a slightly more dodgy company. What do we use it for - covid prevention and air quality when cooking / generally.

Really interesting to see these mentioned. I grabbed a couple of these during the wildfires and they made a huge difference per my ppm monitor. It would read a few hundred ppm outside but would only be in the single digits in my room with the purifier on. But I bought a bigger one than recommended for the room so it could cycle the air on the room more frequently.

Luckily 500sq ft isn’t too big, so you can probably get something like the Levoit 300 for the main room and a smaller one for the bathroom. My advice is don’t get something too small for your main room, or it won’t work. And if you want serious air cleaning, then something large and rated for 2x or 3x your space size like a Levoit Everest or Coway Airmega 300 would really work well (and you’ll only need 1). Most purifiers will sell different types of filters, so check if they make a HEPA or pet filter for the model you want. Standard filters are just for general dust, but stronger filters like true HEPA work on pet dander, allergens, and smoke. And extra carbon filter helps with odor control, so that would be useful in the bathroom. But note that a lot of the stronger filters will emit a weird smell for the first couple of days, so let it run a while before anyone comes over.

I am currently running the house special of "I bought whatever was on sale at the time." So I have a mix of Levoit, Winix, Blueair, and a couple of decades old Honeywells to round it out. My AC system also has a "circulate" option and has a built-in HEPA filter and UV light. I monitor it all with a Airthings 2960 (one upstairs, one downstairs). Currently, I am trying to consolidate to a single brand (settled on Levoit - 300 and 600 sizes) just to make filter replacement simpler. Trying to get to a 6mo filter replacement schedule (currently closer to 4mo here in Texas, thanks to all the allergens). From my testing, here's the short version - as long as it moves air and has some sort of filtration, it'll probably help the air quality in your home. Everything else - air quality monitoring, app access, noise level - it's all bonus features that don't really affect the overall performance of the device. According to my Airthings AQ monitor, they do make a difference. I see VoCs and PM1 and PM2.5 go down when you ramp up the filter fan speeds. For recommendations - Level 1 - regularly change the air filter that your home uses - go cheap and replace more frequently rather than going expensive and hoping it lasts longer. Also, vacuum and dust regularly. Level 2 - bang-for-the-buck is the Corsi–Rosenthal box - and it will always be what I recommend to people who are trying to figure out if air filters will make a difference for them. Level 3 - buy the system that moves the most amount of air and has replacement filters that don't cost an arm and a leg. Levoit, Winix, Blueair, are all honestly decent systems - and if you open them up to replace their filters, you find out that they're really just doing the same thing the Corsi-Rosenthal is. They're just intake fans sitting on top of a filter. As price goes up, you're really just paying for things like automation (fan automatically ramping up when it senses high particles), noise reduction, filter change nagging, etc. My suggestion is to buy whatever goes on sale next time and stick with the brand/size for ease of maintenance. Minimum size I'd recommend is 1000sqft even if your home/room is smaller than that. The max room size is calculated by their highest fan speed - chances are, you probably won't be running it that high all the time. It is better to get multiple smaller units that are local to the area you're using versus a single large unit for a big space. These do not move air vigorously (less than your standard fan) - so even if they say they'll do "3000sqft" - they are assuming you're in a single rectangular room with only four walls. If your home is 2000sqft with lots of rooms and hallways, a single unit will not work. However, the number one thing about any air filter is that they are a continuous cost and will only work as long as you are regularly replacing their filter media. At least with air filters you will be able to see exactly what they're doing when you replace them - mine are usually pretty grey-looking by the time I take them out. Oh, I wouldn't bother with all of the fancy filters (like pet, charcoal, or whatever) unless you have a very specific need for them. Those are are mostly gimmicky. Air quality monitors (like the Airthings) are also not needed - and in fact, many of the higher end filters have particulate sensors in them. It's mostly informational for people like me who just really wanted to know if all of these filters actually did anything. Plus, AQ monitors don't tell you *what* the stuff in the air is, they just tell you it's high. I found out that vaporizing humidifiers make PM sensors show deep red spikes because they're literally throwing tiny bits of water into the air (but it's not specifically a negative thing - especially when you're trying to raise humidity). For the "do they work?" question, my answer is "Eh... sorta." They definitely help with things like odors (such as from cooking or pets). I have not noticed a huge decrease in dust build up (but my house is not sealed in any shape). I definitely notice that my allergies get worse when I go outside versus hiding in my house, but it's not like they're completely eliminated when I'm home. So for me at least, they help, but they're not some sort of miracle cure that'll magically fix everything.

I own a Levoit 300 and it's actually quite nice for small rooms and you can find aftermarket filters that are reasonably priced. At times I wish I'd sprung for the Coway Airmega due to the higher CFM.

I brought a bigger room sized Levoit 300 into my fam members hospital room and put a piece of tape on it with their last name and no one stopped us and they moved it each time with their room changes ( acuity was back and forth) and usually it got turned back on after a move but a couple times I did need to reset. I also made a cute sign requesting masks be worn. Some hospitals are very aggressive about plugging things in but never had a problem at this one, I think the Levoit being white and clean looking helped and we told people it w as air purifier when asked.

I mean.... I mentioned the part about them having no reviews and being at a sketchily low price point of 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of everyone else. There are really only a handful of air purifier brands that have demonstrated reliability, affordability, and effectiveness over several years, and don't dabble in post-apocalyptic/steampunk decor -- coway, levoit, blue air, winix. If you want to pay more, there's iq air, alen air, and a few others. For $110, you could have bought a blue air 511 and almost a 411, a levoit 300, almost a Levoit Vital 100s, or a Winix a231. The winix 5500, the coway 1512, levoit vital 200, and the blueair 311 are all at this CADR, but for closer to $200.

Why don't you want it cleaning the air 24 hours a day though? I have a DIY corsi box and a levoit 300 in the bedroom running all the time. Bonus is it provides white noise at night. I leave all of the air purifiers on in the house because air is always circulating between rooms and I count the cadr as overall house cadr

Yes, I love the levoit brand and I have several of the 300's. That's also the one I take to the dentist appts with my own battery.

Levoits are still good at virus clearing even though they are not technically HEPA.

Please see the stickied thread in this sub about dust. Purifiers are not designed to get rid of dust. Shark sucks. Don’t under any circumstances buy one. BlueAir is fine, but overpriced and the filters are expensive. Levoit is a good, cost effective brand. It is on par with Coway and Winix. You cannot go wrong with a unit from any of those manufacturers.

It probably won’t damage the purifier, but it can cause issues with the filter growing mold or developing a smell if you use it in very humid spaces like a bathroom longterm. For a few days, it’s not going to affect it that much. I would however set up a fan in the window to suck air out of the bathroom and then run it while he’s in there and after he’s done. That’s gonna be honestly more effective than a small air purifier and help with the air changes. If your home has an HVAC system though (meaning air is recycled throughout the house), you need an air purifier in your bedroom just to be safe. The Levoit 300 is probably fine for a bathroom type space, but it is generally undersized for most rooms. Better options would be something like the Levoit vital 200, Levoit core 400/600, Coway Airmega, or AirFanta 3.

I have: 1x IqAir with all the add ins and pre filter 1x Austin it 1x Levoit 600S 2x Levoit 300 1x 24x12x2 MERV 12 Filter (corsi style) but with an HVAC box and INLINE fan. All my HVAC return filters use MPR300 filters. I vacuum all the time, and run a robot vacuum multiple times a day. The goal is keeping the dust on the floor from floating UP and ON to elevated surfaces. In return the air filters last longer.

IqAir It’s not “smart”. But I don’t need it to have WiFi or smart features. I need it to cleanse the air. I have a Levoit in my living room and the only thing that is neat is telling Siri to turn it to 100% or back down to 50%. The IqAir sits in my master bedroom. It smells clean and crisp in the bedroom!

Find a levoit 300 cheap on fb marketplace. Very good purifier and you can prob find one for $30-$40 ($100 new)

I have two levoit air purifiers and I swear by them!! I strongly suggest buying at the 300 purifier, I got a mini and didn’t like it so I got the 300. When it came to buy new filters, regardless of size they’re the same price, so while it’s a bigger investment to get the 300 ($100 vs $50 mini), it’s the only time there’s a difference in price. The mini stays right by the litter box for that but if the litter is reaching the end of its freshness, the mini doesn’t keep up but the 300 will. We use the 300 in our living room which is a decent size and open floor plan with our dining room and kitchen, both large spaces and the 300 does great! We’ve asked our guests if there’s any pet smells and they always say no. We keep our 300 purifier within 6ft of the dog kennels too to help with residual funk from them. Another thing I like about them is that sucks up hair. I take the filters out and shake them off outside to wack off the hair but they really suck in the hair that’s just floating around the room.

I have 2 Levoit brand purifiers. A smaller one in my bedroom and and a bigger one for living room area. They are quiet, dependable, and have been working well.

I got a Levoit Core air purifier a few months ago and have been happy with it for odor control. I primarily got it as a couple friends are allergic to my cat and have suffered when visiting 😂 happy to report it’s been great in that regard, too

I know exactly how you must feel, as we've been through this all before, it's overwhelming with all the different choices. My partner has a severe dust mite allergy and the first thing we bought was a Levoit true HEPA filter air purifier. Further to that, we bought a Dustro dx6 mattress vacuum cleaner. It removes all the dust mites from deep inside the mattress, UV sterilises it, and applies hot air to it too which apparently makes it hard for them to survive or multiply. Trust me the first time you use it you'll be shocked at what it pulls out - this is after vacuuming our bed daily! A combination of both have made a night and day difference, we noticed the different straight away

I really like the Levoit. It’s super quiet on the lowest setting and you can turn the lights off. My husband is a bozo who needs white noise to sleep so he always turns it up to its highest setting and then doesn’t turn the lights off. We have a coway airmega for our living area but I prefer the way the Levoit looks and my older son kept messing with the coway and it got stuck on a setting so I can’t turn it up or down. ETA I also have a roomba because I am allergic to dogs but my dog is my favorite child and I let him sleep on my bed during the day.

I have a Levoit Core series unit in each room. I can tell the difference when I run it- even visually, when the sun shines in the room I no longer see all the stuff in the air. They are reasonably priced, filters are easy to change, and have a nuce design.

How is a levoit only better for hair and dander? Hepa is hepa and vital series should be just as effective as the others. Core series is inferior. 

Yeah, as others are pointing out the pandemic is far from over. Air purifiers are a great idea. We have them in every room of the house. Get them to cover double the sq ft than the room you’ll use it in so that you can get the same coverage on lower settings. The Levoit Core series is good, has a small footprint and is pretty affordable. I’ve sent these to family. I chose the Levoit Core Series because its quiet operation worked well in my baby's room, and the cleaner air noticeably reduced my allergy symptoms.

Levoit are consistently ranked among the top by professional reviewers and customers alike. There are people out there who are all pissy about the fact that the filters aren't officially HEPA certified anymore and have made it their life mission to shit on Levoit at any opportunity, but the fact is that it's just not important as the filters are still among the best performing, with or without the certification and it's wholly irrelevant for most people's uses. My main advice would be to get the largest unit you can afford, as small ones are much less effective. Large ones can always be run on a slower speed if put into a small room, but generally it's best to use the highest speed you can handle without being annoyed by it. The Vital 100S and Vital 200S have washable mesh pre-filters which is one of their main advantages over the Core series, but the Core series are still very good. The washable pre-filters just help keep the primary filter lasting a little longer between replacements. However, reviewers have noted that the Vital 200S is the better choice over the 100S due to being quieter, more power efficient, and larger. The Core series have a non-washable pre-filter which you can vacuum every couple of weeks with a soft brush. They are still excellent purifiers, and there are plenty of options for third-party replacement filters which are just as good, but cheaper than the originals. There are also good third party filter options for the Vital series as well. Since an air purifier is designed to be turned on and left running constantly, the smart features aren't really necessary unless you would like to control the speed every night when you go to bed, or set schedules where it runs at maximum when you're out, and then returns to a lower speed when you're home, etc. Other than something like that, the non-smart enabled ones will do just fine. Also remember that the room sizes they claim can be purified are exaggerated greatly for all brands and models. The really small units which can fit on your night table by the bed and sell for cheaply won't be very effective.

We have a Levoit and love it, it has made such a noticeable difference. 3 settings, first one is quiet, the loudest one we use as a white noise machine at night.

We don’t have allergies but we do have a dog who has issues with shedding/dander and it has definitely improved the air quality

Some Levoits do have an ionizer function. :P The ones you buy in the big box stores tend to have it, on the box it will say “PlasmaPro”. I bought a model on Amazon that does NOT have the PlasmaPro function. Now, probably, you can just not turn on PlasmaPro and it’s fine but I wasn’t taking any chances.

I literally do not know. When I asked the company the same question they just denied that ionization can harm birds. I returned the PlasmaPro model I had bought at Target and ordered one without from Amazon, I didn’t want to take any chances.

We have a Coway and a Levoit and they are both great but the Levoit goes through filters a lot faster IMO but the coway is visually much larger so we keep it in the main living area and the Levoit in BR.

levoit is good and has some very affordable options. we have an appropriately sized levoit in almost every room in our house and it helps a lot with allergies. also make sure to change your furnace filter regularly and use merv 13 or higher filters for it

I have this setup. The Google home options to control it are limited. I just end up using their vesync app for scheduling. I do use Google home with it to setup automations for bedtime and stuff.

I have a bernese and a golden and we use Levoit air purifiers. They work really well for our house which isn't very big

I have had Levoit for a long time and they work well. Granted, if I was in the market I might do more research as it turned out my models weren’t “true HEPA” as advertised.

I have 2 air doctors and a levoit and don't notice any difference between them. If money was no option I'd probably gonwoth Austin Air or Jaspr. If budget then Levoit or Winix from Costco. Or Costco also has a Shark with a 5 year filter.

I got a Coway Airmega because it was highly reviewed on the Wirecutter website after my previous Levoit broke after only a couple years and wasn’t fixable (circuit board inside was fried).

To be honest I haven’t gotten them Yet. They are for my parents and were supposed to be delivered today but were delayed until Thursday. I have a Winix 5500-2 in my home and love it. I also have a Levoit in my bedroom that does a great job despite the reviews.

My Levoits have lasted for years and work well 

If your home was next to other homes that burned down, then first have to access smoke damage inside. Whether it’s serious enough having to tear out drywall and carpet (if have it). Or if repainting all walls will do it. Otherwise, have to deep clean the house. My dad’s house was a block away from where the fire stop in November’s Mountain fire. No structural or visible smoke damage inside, but the whole house smelled like a post camp fire. Me and my brother spent two full days deep cleaning. Washed all the windows and screens. Washed all bedding and clothes. Cleaned all the base boards. Washed couch cushions covers. Vacuumed the carpet and drapes multiple times. After still had a faint smell of smoke left. I bought two LEVOIT air purifiers on Amazon and were delivered even with his neighborhood having a police checkpoint. Couple days later the smell was gone. Most of the result was from deep cleaning the house though

I pine sol or fabuloso everything. I also have the clorox urine spray (I know its peroxide but I like the smell it leaves). I also put powder on carpets before i clean/vacuum or get them cleaned. The air purifier doesn't do much except remove particulates. We have a levoit but it's meh.

I think it’s best to purchase both an air purifier and dehumidifier for that area where there is mold. Hopefully that will work for you. I have levoit air purifier for the bedrooms. And we had the mold experts provide us with heavy duty dehumidifiers. (No longer needed, hunting a regular one now)

Levoits in my home as well, absolutely love them. They also have an ESP32 chip so… future me may have to make them local if and when the Vesync app ever goes away. I like that.

We have a 2500 sq ft home so we have several air purifiers. I went off wirecutter’s list and got Coway Airmega for the rooms with higher ceilings and Levoit for the kid rooms and office (where the litter box is). We have had them for a year and I’m happy with them. They’ve significantly cut down on daycare illness transmission within our household. Instead of all 4 of us getting sick it’s 1 kid and sometimes 1 parent per illness.

Yup we have several, one in our living room, one downstairs, and one in our bedroom. The Winix brand is good and sometimes Costco has them on sale. In our bedroom we have a smaller Levoit. It helps keep the air fresh, helps manage cat hair and dust, and of course is nice when it’s smoky out 🥲

I've used Levoit multiple times for a more economical version, but I love my IQAir GC MultiGas XE (I have MCS) if you can afford it.

Start with some kind of air circulation and a higher quality and efficiency filter if you have a central HVAC system. Depending on your cat's age and habits, you will likely find yourself scooping 2-3x per day. Use poop bags to contain mess and odor and even take them to the trash daily if you want. Levoit air purifier in the bathroom with the litter box didn't work for me, it seemed to amplify the smell. I ordered a Winnix so we'll see. You can also try an enclosed box with charcoal filters built in. When you do fully replace the litter, make sure you wipe down the box, even if you use plastic liners.

I've had 2 Levoit air purifiers and recently bought the new Shark Ninja one that doesn't require filters. They are all awesome at helping me breathe and keeps the dust and cat hair under control.

I just bought a Levoit a few weeks ago and so far I freaking love it! Even on the highest setting it's quieter than a regular box fan. It's actually a quite soothing sound and so far I can tell it's made a big difference in my overall air quality.

We really like our Levoit brand ones. Locally our energy company has discounts on them if you buy through their program so I would do that if I was buying another, may be worth checking.  The coway air mega mighty are also popular. We stayed with friends out west during one of the big fire years and it was amazing at both the smoke and the dog hair from their dog. 

You want a HEPA filter and actual activated carbon granules-sometimes the activated carbon is just a paper thin layer-not doing much. For cost, consider replacement filter costs not just up front ones. I also like ones that have a sensor so you can leave it on “auto” and it will kick on when you cook or air gets worse without you having to keep track of it. Also don’t splurge on plasma ion or ozone or whatever else-mixed studies show it can react with chemicals to form more dangerous ones at worst and generally not much better at best. Right now you may want to sacrifice optimality for actually having something going to clean your air since it’s a time of high uncertainty. What’s in stock at home depot may be superior to the “best” air purifier that arrives in 2 weeks. Those caveats-no one can give better advice based on “feel” than what’s tests show-and wirecutter actually tested performance https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/ . If you prefer anecdotes, here are some of my experiences: Winnix has been in stock at home depot. I evacuated with my air purifier and I needed something to leave during cleaning to try and detox my pasadena apartment. It was in stock and had hepa+carbon-it seems to be working. Oransi is the one I evacuated with, love the looks, it really seems to work well, lots of aftermarket filters available-downside is that sleep mode sets fan speed to auto, I want it to just turn lights off and leave the fan mode. But It has lasted at least 6+ years. Levoit is what was at the apartment I evacuated to. It seems a little less powerful per dollar spent than my oransi, but it’s night mode turns off the lights while still letting you set the fan speed. My roommate left a Coway going in his room and that thing worked very well to prevent any smoke smell from settling, and it’s highly recommended by wirecutter. If I had to buy right now and I could get one in a reasonable timeline, it’s how I would go.

Most air purifiers are just a device to push air through a hepa filter. Designs can vary the amount of air they push through, but in the end of the day it’s the quality of the filter and replacing it that matters. The airdog seems to do a bunch of other stuff and how much that contributes would need a third party analysis And for that reason, buying a model that uses proprietary filters may be a poor idea as those things are unreasonably priced, kind of like printer ink cartridges. So a washable filter can help with the lifetime cost(though the initial price on the x5d seems awfully steep) It’s also actually a fairly simple diy project to make a “corsi-rosenthal box” yourself which uses off the shelf merv filters(which are taking out the things like pollen and dust but not viruses… which is probably not an issue unless you’re installing in the workplace or a hospital). There’s also plenty of plans out there for hepa filters. The only real advantage the subscription model air filters have is good looks and wifi connectivity(which you can also diy with home assistant and esphome but it’s definitely a more involved task) I’m using levoit filters at home and they’re fine and the 2.5 levels are very low. I can also connect them to home assistant which is a big plus for me so I can monitor the filter level(though I’m guessing this is just an arbitrary use based calculation). But I do regret buying them due to the replacement thing. But they’re a hell of a lot cheaper than the airdog. If I knew what I knew I’d have built my own, seems like a fun project

I like levoit for the price point, they use visual sensors for quality. Any brand that touts anything beyond HEPA is suspect. That said, the carbon addition is nice for scent removal.

I like my Levoit operation/efficacy wise but the filters are stupidly expensive. If I were to get something else I’d go with the Winix 5500-2. Best unit I ever had was the rabbit air minusA2 but it’s outside your (and mine now lol) price range

Levoit or whatever has a million review on Amazon. It does a good job on the cheap. Just vacuum it out when the display turns red or buy a new filter.

We have this model in our bedroom, but there are 2 other (larger) purifiers in the house. I do like it. I use it just as much for a fan in the summertime because it circulates alot of air. It's also a white noise machine at night (pleasant whirring)

I have no complaints. It's loud on speed setting 3 which we use a white noise to sleep. It does have an actual sleep mode which is whisper quiet though I don't know how much air it circulates. Setting 3 actually makes our bedroom chilly in the winter because of how much cool air it's pulling off the floor. It makes quite the breeze.

If you can, the DIY 'CRboxes' are typically much better performing. I've had a levoit, and both of the current IKEA ones. Both worked well, but the levoit filters were expensive to replace. I'm currently using a DIY system using PC/server fans in my self built house circulation system. I haven't measured PM2.5, but dust and hair is WAY down - I used to vacuum every day, now I only need to twice a week.

I have 2 in my bird room one on either side as well as a smaller Levoit just outside the room. I have 4 parrots 2 of them being African Grey’s and these suck the powder down as well as everything else out of the air. I clean the pre filters every other day with a vacuum change the carbon filter once per month and change the HEPA every 3 months. These make such a difference in air quality and dust control it’s unbelievable.

Been using Levoit for a few years. Integrates with Home app but never use it that way. Always control with their Vesyn app because controls are more robust, or through Home voice commands.

We built one yesterday and honestly have preferred it over our Levoit purifier :)

I have the levoit for my 2 Maine coons and long haired GSD. My friend who has bad allergies sits next to it when she comes over and is way better so I know it’s at least doing something!

I've had one of these for coming up to 5 years I reckon and it's a great air purifier. No frills, but really gets the job done. That said for a room accommodating an indoor pool this'll likely be far too small. Not to mention this type of purifier isn't really gonna deal with strong odours like you describe. You'd be better off with something bigger for your needs. If however, you're looking for a reliable purifier for a standard to medium size room that will handle dust like a champ, this is a solid choice.

My Levoit thinks it's in an OR or a chip clean-room at Intel. It records a tiny blip almost every night, around 0300 or so, but that's about it. I'm a noise weenie at night but this thing is *too* quiet; I know it's running, I see what the prefilter is picking up, I hear it cycle to a higher setting when on auto...but I may just get a clothes pin and a baseball card and really feel like I'm getting my money's worth

I’ve had great use for a few years out of a Levoit. Pick one that’s rated for larger than your room, and no ionizer. I vacuum the filters and only change them once a year.

I love levoit brand! I have been using them for 4 years and they are so nice and quiet. I highly recommend them. Also pro tip for any brand of air purifier you get, make sure to remove any plastic that is around the filter when you receive your unit.

Unfortunately, from my research, Levoit is the best for a budget. There is only 1 brand that is better (IQAir Health Pro Plus), but the purifier is like $900. You're better off buying a levoit for every room you are frequently in. Levoit does not market their air purifiers as true HEPA because they were sued by Dyson. From my research, many people have tested levoit products and found that they are just as good as true HEPA filters. Extra input from partner: Amazon room ratings should be divided by 2. So if it's rated for 1000sqft don't use it for a room bigger than 500sqft. Reasoning is: the air exchanges per hour that Amazon sellers use is 1 exchange per hour but ideally you want 2 or even 4 air exchanges per hour

I have a small Levoit unit running near the bedrooms. Works well. I buy Leemone replacement filter 2-packs for $17 on Amazon.

Our Levoit is nice, it monitors the air and ramps up accordingly. Usually when we’re cooking, it’ll go into overdrive and clean up the smell. Our old Honeywell or whatever didn’t do that.

I use a Levoit air purifier and Qingping air monitor. Both help in determining the air quality.

Came to say Levoit cleaners do a great job for the cost, but imho I don’t really think the pet version does much extra just a marketing thing really so avoid those.

I have two Coway air filters. They look nice and have three speed levels. I normally have them set on the medium air speed setting. I use them for filtering wildfire smoke (every summer now), pollen in spring/summer and when I have guests over for Covid prevention. I also have a levoit which goes with us in our RV, but otherwise can sit on the buffet table in the dining room. Normally I have have one purifier running in our bedroom, one in our living room and one in our dining room, running at all times. My house dust is considerably less with the air purifiers going. My husband sleeps better with the background fan noise too. When I have guests, I will move the one from the bedroom into the dining room (then there are two in the dining room). My table can seat 8 but since Covid it is never more than 4 so there is plenty of space between people. Couples are seated on one end and the other couple at the other end. When I have guests, my windows are all cracked in all seasons, plus the two air purifiers. Masks only come off while eating. If we are hanging out in the living room my husband and I are wearing our kn95 masks, with one air purifier and windows cracked. The air purifiers are set on high when the masks come off. I am fairly sensitive to odd smells and I haven't noticed any with either the coways or the levoit.

Love my Levoit. Also have their humidifier and it works well. If you're thinking of a robot vacuum, you'll be happier with one that is a mop combo. The vacuum works well but the mop picks up the little bit of dust that the vacuum might not get and just overall feels cleaner (to me at least).

I really despise levoit. I'll never buy anything from them again. Their customer service and "warranty" are awful

Huge difference. Get one, check out the filter after a week. Definitely makes a difference. We run Levoits. Happy with them, and wouldn't be without them now that I see what they pull out of the air. We had a lot of new construction dust, including red dirt. Also dog hair.

2 Conway and 1 Winix currently. Had 3 Levoit’s but they all died between 12-24 months. Junk

Looking at Amazon, Levoit seems to be the most popular brand when it comes to air purifiers. If budget is limited and I had to pick between the two, I’d go with Levoit. It’s pretty solid for bedroom use.

I personally love both my Levoit which I bought used for a great price. A brand I have seen recommended here called Winix you can find on sale often at Costco. Two for under $100. I’m not sure how much the filter replacement in them are but that’s what you want to know before buying a unit because the filters are the most important part of the unit and will continue to cost you over time.

I have two Levoits that I keep near our litter boxes. They make a big difference.

I’ve had Levoit air purifies and fans, and I’ve had good luck with them. I do think these are all pretty much decent entry level units, so go with your gut.

I think I have the same Levoit as you because I kept zooming in on the pic and was like damn if that isn't the exact same as I bought a few months ago for a lot more!

I'm using one at the mo and haven't noticed any difference really! I am admittedly terrible at remembering to change filters lol I haven't got the pet specific one as I live on a busy road and worry more about traffic pollution.. Ideally I'd have a couple more of the purifiers to cover the whole house but they are pricey.

I have a Levoit purifier that I got on Amazon. I have three in the house. It doesn’t totally solve the pet hair problem, but I’ve noticed a difference. The one in my bedroom doubles as a white noise machine 😴

These are the 3 air filters I personally have. Most air filters only get down to 0.3 microns; these get down to 0.003 microns, which captures mold - which is my main concern - as well as viruses, bacteria, etc.  AirDoctor IQAir AirOasis I also have a Levoit that I like but doesn't capture as small of stuff as the ones above.

I got a levoit the other day off Amazon, as the dust in the flat was shocking from drying laundry and having windows open has made a massive difference to the amount of dust that settles so the air must be a lot cleaner and the filter is picking up loads so I’d say they work, as for mould find out the cause and get it sorted as can lead to all Sorts of problems.

Dyson is probably the best in my experience. I’d fart and it’ll start doing its thing when its on auto as you can hear the fan switching to high. My Levoit air purifiers don’t do that, they ignore my farts.

I will throw in a plus for an appropriately sized levoit. I had them when I lived in South Korea and Air pollution was *immense*. I set up three in my apartment and I never had to dust again. Those things worked amazingly well. They increased power when I opened the door and air pollution came in and cooked. And when it detected nothing in the air, it went to lowest power. But honestly, anything that blows air through a HEPA filter will clean particulate out of the air. Anything crazy expensive probably isn't worth it. People have strapped HEPA filters to box fans and have gotten better results than the most expensive air purifiers. Thats all the expensive ones do. It's an expensive fan and HEPA filter.

I lived in South Korea where there was extreme air pollution. In my apartment I would walk around barefoot and notice the bottoms of my feet turning black. I would mop and mop and mop and still nothing. I got a couple of levoit air purifiers, and it almost completely removed dust/pollution from my apartment. I had very little dust and pollution build up after that.

I regularly monitor air quality in my room with separate detector and runnin Levoit Air Purifier. So far what I noticed: Air quality inside my room (house) really correlates with AQ outside even when doors/windows are closed Running air purifier does help to some extent but only when you also close all doors (indoor doors as well!) and of course windows. I noticed roughly 50-90% better AQ in my room when running purifier vs not running it. Effectiveness is largely affected by keeping all doors closed like I mentioned. Automatic mode on my air purified is garbage and always keeps it running low, so I run in on medium/high mode. Only during night I switch to low usually.

I've had a Levoit for years and I love it. Got it out of an abundance of caution during covid, but then my sinuses cleared up overnight and I was sold forever.

I would not bother lugging that thing around, though I like the Levoit too and have it at home. It only works after it's on for a while and I wouldn't want anyone to say essentially that "well, I thought that I could be more careless because the instructor assured me this would protect me!" I would continue masking instead, frequent washing of hands, sanitizing surfaces, keeping a fair distance from people, vaccinating, etc. Kids are super generous with THEIR germs. Never had an ear infection in my life until my kid gave it to me. And just wait until all the kids pile their coats and hats on top of each other in school, share combs, etc. Stock up on lice meds!

I’ve liked winix and levoit and they aren’t super pricey. If you haven’t already, you may also want to upgrade your hvac filters to the highest option (merv 13) and set your HVAC fan to run more often.

Regular grooming does the heavy lifting (we have 2 golden retrievers), but we also have Levoits and they work really well.

I use damprid to reduce moisture/mold and have a Levoit filter in each room for allergies. They have various sizes depending on the sq footage you want to cover.

Blueair and Levoit are both top-notch for different reasons. I have a Levoit for my house.

We have three Levoit filters and love them! Probably only need two but I felt like we should have one by each bird cage and in our bedroom. I want a fourth one for upstairs. They clean the air very well and their filter is cleanable a few times before you need to replace. We have a GE filter and it does not work as well. Also, try bathing every other day. That helps a ton and eventually our birds ended up accepting that was their life routine. And finally, are you certain he is having true nasal issues? Greys are so good at mimicking that it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve heard a grey make a sound a human made and enjoy the panic it caused!

Winix or levoit. Make sure it has a carbon filter to help with pet odor. Don't get one with the plasma tech bc they make ozone

I have a Dyson, BlueAir, and Levoit in various areas of the house. Levoit is near the litter box and is loud but does a good job - we never smell the litter box. Our favorite is the BlueAir in our bedroom - we keep it on auto mode 24/7. It’s super quiet and seems to work well. The Dyson is our most expensive one and we would probably not buy again. We like that it’s also a fan when it’s warm, but it doesn’t perform any better than the BlueAir which was a fraction of the cost.

I have had 3 IQ Air HealthPro+’s in the last 15y. I’ve also had Levoit. No competition. IQ Air is the best air filter I’ve ever used. Ugly, but worth it to me. No competition. IQ Air if you can swing the cost.

I had rats. They’re worse than cats.  And I have asthma. Apparently I’m not smart. But I have been through MANY air purifiers.  What’s your budget and space?  My favourite is coway. The filters are expensive, but it’s quiet enough for my bedroom. IKEA is my second choice, because pretty cheap. The filters are also decent, and seem to of actually gone down in price. Sometimes they get a rattle, but I like that they’re wall mounted. And I like the dumb switch- so I can set it on a timer plug and it sorts itself out - the others have touch buttons and don’t turn on automatically after power cuts.  I don’t really like Levoit. Most of them are round, I don’t get it, it seems like a waste of space and energy.  They’re not quiet either. And I hated the buttons.  I used to have a bigger floor one. I forget the brand… I moved and ran out of floor space. If you have an open plan layout though, get one.   Filters are the worst part, so do check that out. You want carbon for smell. You don’t want ionising. But you can hoover the HEPA filters a few times semi successfully and even try and wash them 👀 Air purifiers are not a miracle. It’s basically a hoover bag on a fan to help catch the dust. Dust that smells. But I can tell when I’ve had a power cut and it hasn’t been on 😅 A robot hoover would help a lot too, but not so good for roaming cats and their toys.  I also got mesh for the windows and try and open all of them once a day for 5-10 minutes even in winter, and that really feels much fresher than anything else I do. 

I started off with Honeywells before pandemic to deal with allergies and then Levoits when wildfires hit and then donated Coways to my kids' school. The Coways are WAY quieter with more CFM than the Levoits! However, the filters are quite expensive, so be ready for that. The Levoits I got that had sensors all broke within the first few months. I just use them on manual and they are totally fine, a bit noisy though. Make sure you measure your spaces (including ceiling height) to get appropriate sized ones for all your living spaces.

High MERV filters make your furnace work harder and can shorten the life of your HVAC system. Most professionals will recommend the cheapest quality but replaced monthly. Most homeowners use medium density replaced quarterly because who wants to add another monthly chore to the list. An air purifier was built with their specific filter rating in mind and are way more convenient besides. Op, I like Levoit. Not terribly expensive, years of being the best rated in home and professional outfits, washable pre-filters which is incredible if you have pets, etc etc.

I've got a corsi Rosenthal box, a levoit, a Honeywell, and one other than I can't remember the brand of right now. The CR box has a high CADR but is noisy. Works great for clearing the air or when I have guests over. The levoit is quietest and I use that in my bedroom. Makes nice background noise. The Honeywell is fine. Picked it up 2nd hand from a thrift store for $10. I use to just help keep dust and pet dander out of the air.

Another fan of Levoit here. They’ve been reliable, my allergies are much improved, and we’ve really reduced our rate of passing airborne germs around the family.

My husband is a smoker— only in the basement rec room though— I’ve got two air purifiers down there because it’s a room over 700 square feet— they are Levoit air purifiers and were fairly inexpensive. I like that they run automatically and can be adjusted on an app, remind me to check and change filters, and are quiet. They do a good job of removing smoke from the room. I buy replacement filters when on sale. I used to have a big Honeywell air cleaner but it started to smell ‘musty’— I changed to the Levoit after deciding to upgrade.

Absolutely. You should have one even if Canada wasn't spewing nasty chemical ash. Levoit is reccomended a lot and they are good for the price.Blueair is also solid if you prefer the looks. The bigger the room, the larger the purifier so figure where you spend the most time and go from there. 

We have 2 levoits and even on 1 I can hear it across the room with the TV on. They both have an ear-piercing high pitched sound that I can't stand. Is the IQ Air that much quieter? I'm looking for good alternatives.

I like my levoit a lot. Just make sure you get one that doesn't generate ozone. I assume that's probably what killed the bird you're referring to.

Have you looked into allergy shots? They are annoying but my quality of life has been so much better after I did a full course of them. I could keep going to get better results, but now my air purifier (I have leviot) and daily over the counter allergy meds keep things at a manageable level.

We have a Shark that we got on sale and I like it because it also gives a reading of what the air quality is in the room. But we also have a “levoit” small one from Amazon that we put in a small room, and we’re used the reader on the Shark to see if it works and it works just as well.

I have a Levoit because I didn’t want the absolute cheapest air purifier but also not the crazy expensive ones and I’m super happy with it. I know it’s working when I cook something or my neighbors smoke on the back patio and the little circle turns red and it starts working harder. I think it’s made a difference and definitely also cuts down on dust.

This Levoit would be a better choice, yes. u/NICBROWWN's suggestion is also worth considering. The [refurbished Winix C545](https://www.winixamerica.com/product/certified-refurbished-c545-air-purifier/) has higher Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) than the Levoit model. Keep in mind refurbished Winix units are limited stock and offer a 1 year warranty. NB: if you have pet birds, keep Winix's PlasmaWave (a bipolar ionizer) off, as birds are far more sensitive to ozone than humans.

The stuffiness you describe may due to higher indoor relative humidity (RH) and/or carbon dioxide build-up. High RH can lead to mold and mildew growth, which in turn produces odorous mVOCs (microbial Volatile Organic Compounds). Purifiers only capture *airborne* mold and mildew; they can't mitigate moisture sources or pathways. A dehumidifier would be much better instead. I'm guessing you have one or more ductless mini splits for air conditioning? Unfortunately "whole home" dehumidifiers require ductwork. You would need to buy a freestanding dehumidifier instead. I'd prefer the Levoit or Philips over Xiaomi or Blueair. Just keep in mind that Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) are typically given for the highest airflow speed/setting *only*. Lower settings have lower CADRs, which reduces cleaning effectiveness.

Coway, big time. Levoit is a popular brand but they came under fire in the last few years, can't remember exactly when, for lying about being HEPA rated and/or no longer can claim to be or something. We do have a Levoit from before then but we use it in our bedroom and use Coway for our bird room and office where they spend a lot of time. Biggest thing other than ensuring it's ***TRUE*** HEPA (different from just saying "HEPA") and **avoiding** ions and ozone is making sure you get the appropriate size. It may be expensive, but it's worth it for the right item.

IQAir by a mile. I have a purifiers from Conway (nice, not expensive), Blue air (prettier, work), Levoit (not worth it IMHO), and IQ Air. By far, the IQ Air is the best of the bunch. Better filters. beefier construction. quiet and powerful. Pricy.

I use Levoit and Winx. Winx runs in the basement. Levoit runs on the main floor and a smaller Levoit in each bedroom. My experience is that air purifiers are one tool used to help reduce/alleviate allergies. Expecting a purifier to fix the issue entirely is setting oneself up for disappointment. You may also want to investigate an air quality monitor.

I don't remember if it worked out of the bat for me or I had to do something like 2FA but I remember I had to go to their web and log.in through there first and it works fine. Just mind if you log in in HA it will log you out from the app and vice versa.

There must be something in the way. I just checked and have 4 devices added without any problems. Did you check all the logs? HA is not super user friendly when it comes to messages. I would go through all the logs in settings / system / logs. There should be more details there.

No idea but it doesn't necessarily means it's a wrong password. How are you login to the app? Normal email and pass or otp, Google/apple sso etc? I'm using normal email username and password. I found with many integrations that sso is not handled correctly and better to create a regular username and pass

I don't mind levoit for the money, we have about 8 of them in various sizes, but if I had to do it again I would have bought all blueair. They're incredible and the best thing is that they have this washable cloth sleeve (pre filter) that goes over the entire intake which happens to wrap all the way around. It does such a good job that the actual internal filter stays significantly cleaner and doesn't need to be cleaned or changed as often. It's a game changer. This is based on years of use and experience with numerous air purifiers.

Air purifier is a great purchase. I have the popular Levoit purifiers in my daughter’s nursery and our bedroom. Quiet asf. I vacuum the filters at least once or twice before I change them out to extend the life. I have a larger GermGuardian downstairs that is less quiet, but does the job. Air purifiers (and open windows) will also help in mitigating airborne sicknesses. Humidifier is a good idea—you likely don’t need to run it year round. We run ours at night in the winter bc of the radiator heat, and any time our daughter has a cough/cold, but again, only at night. You can use an ultrasonic humidifier if you use distilled water, or if you know your tap water is very soft and super clean. Otherwise it will leave a white dust around your house. (I found this out when there was a pile of dust around my Levoit purifier lol.) Evaporative work fine with tap. The cost you save on distilled (and plastic waste) you make up for in buying filters and the labor of cleaning. I have a Honeywell that I only change the filter maybe once a winter, and I clean it when I fill it. We use a Vicks in my daughter’s room, which has a built in filter and warm mist. (She can’t get to it at night, otherwise we’d go with cool mist bc of the heat.) The downside is the filter gets very easily crusted with minerals due to our hard water, and I have to wipe it either daily or every other day to prevent an impossible-to-remove crust from forming. And be sure to check the warnings on any diffuser, as oils and such can be harmful to babies and pets.

Most are pretty similar these days. I have Winix, Dyson, Blueair, and Levoit (7 total) and I’d recommend any of them.

A few of my friends converted to litter robot after seeing one at my house but complained about the smell of the litter which they didn’t notice at my place. The next time they came over I turned off my air purifier and within few minutes they smelt it alright! Pro tip here is to add an air purifier running right next to the machine, got one from Levoit and never had any issues with odor! Helps for dust as well.

Go for Levoit. No 1 brand ng air purifier. Much expensive than other brands but you'll get the quality that you've paid for.

I have the levoit model that wirecutter recommended as the budget model and i like it. The first year I had it, there were very few fires and i was grumpy. but last year and this year it has been clutch. I am now in a larger space so I plan to get a second one.

Two levoits here. Nothing fancy, never use the app, but they do what they are supposed to. Ended up going with the pet filters and it's definitely helped air quality.

Just get something that uses HEPA filters. We have one in every room but the bathroom (humidity from the shower is not great for the filters). I've never had to clean baseboards since using them. Winix from Costco. I also have a Coway and Levoit (lots of people like those) as well as a few from Medify. They all do the same thing. I personally prefer to get one larger than needed for the size the room it's rated for so I can run it on low - which is quieter - and still get a good number of air exchanges per hour (the room size they typically advertise assumes you're running it on high which most people are not since the higher settings are loud). Bonus with HEPAs is that they help reduce illness transmission as they clean viruses from the air.

Coways are a blind buy. Decently priced and excellent products with good support and long term support. Best part is, coway is a pure air purifier company. Levoit makes good ones too, both are korean. But the small Levoits that everyone shills are useless for anything but a literal mini van. They are tiny. You need big ones.

The key is make sure you draw in fresh air at the same time you use it. So pipe it from a window to the unit and put it close to the person but not right beside them. If they can blow out another window even better. The hepa filters will absorb and distribute the smell if too close. The expensive iqair gs model has reviews from cigar smokers and is a good machine but expensive not only to buy but maintain. The levoit should be fine but the key is getting fresh air in and getting the smoke out as much as possible.

I have a Winix and a Levoit. I leave them on Auto, and if they sense bad air quality, the fan speed will increase for extra purifying

I enjoy my levoits. They work very well, are quiet, and look nice. Filters can be expensive, but that goes for all hepa filters tbh But if you want cheap and effective, while being flexible and long lived enough, make one out of a box fan and AC filters. They are ugly as sin but very effective when constructed properly and they last as long as a box fan lasts for whatever that's worth.

They definitely help! they won't magically cure everything you're experiencing but they will cut down the particulate dramatically. I have a levoit for my bedroom, a cr box from North Box Systems in my living room, and an ikea air purifier in the other bedroom. Ikea has surprising good air purifiers and reasonably priced. Levoit is a really good brand as well.

After running Puroa⁤ir for a week, the air felt lighter and the pet smell basically disappeared. Leviots are only good for hair and dander. You can get a 100s/200s to help with that and add a Medify MA 25 or MA 40 or winix/coway to help with actual particulates and allergens. I noticed much better results running 2 purifiers to help with coverage.

If you're concerned about VOCs / NO2, the outside air should have less of that than what's concentrating in your enclosed space. Even if it's not perfect, it should be better. You may also want to pick up an air quality monitor, to see what you should be targeting. If there's a lot of particulate matter, any correctly sized HEPA filter will work. If the problem is CO, NO, VOCs or other gasses, you need to ventilate. As sort of a side note, we have both Levoitt and Coway. They both work fine. The choice has more to do with how much air they can move through the filter for a given amount of energy / noise. And the cost of the filters.
