I got one last week for 130 canadian (tax inc) but I saw that I'd need 2 for my room. I'm tempted to return it tho. It has no indicator on it and I'd love to know how it actually cleans my air or not.

We have the levoit purifiers in our living room, bedroom, and the nursery. We love them. We vacuum off the filter every couple of weeks. They run 24/7 and are quiet enough but also loud enough to be a basic white noise machine for baby.

Hell yes they’re helpful. Not a replacement for an N95, but in addition to. [For a hotel room, Levoit Core 300](https://a.co/d/cLACJtW) We have IQAir atoms, but they’re spendy and don’t cover as much. Will get the Levoit next time. Leave on while you’re out. Hang do not disturb sign at all times. Windows open if you can. Mask up for at least 30 minutes before taking your mask off. Just purchased the PureZone Mini linked by u/thehikinlichen to use particularly at the dentist next time I have to go. Thankfully they also have big windows that open and my dentist wears an N95. There’s a hepa in the room but who knows when they last changed the filters. This will help for sure.

Personally I think the Levoit Core 300 looks decently unobtrusive for an office setting, although it's not exactly invisible. I have it in my home office and it's not too loud on the medium setting. Also on a good sale on [Amazon.ca](http://Amazon.ca) right now: [https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07S3D4MRJ/](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07S3D4MRJ/)

I only live in a 600 square foot apartment, so it keep things a lot less dusty than when I didn't have one. Just make sure that when you choose an air purifier that's its NOT ionizing. Make sure to read through product descriptions. You can also check if other bird owners use a certain purifier by searching reviews.

The Coway 150 or the Winix C545, with some caveats. But I recommend upgrading from the Coway 150 to the Coway Airmega 200 (which I have) or Coway Mighty (a little harder to clean the front panel of the Mighty than the Coway 200) to provide flexibility of moving it to a larger room. Depending on the merchant, the 200 isn't much more expensive than the 150. [Wirecutter](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/#our-pick-coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-mighty) rates the Winix C535 as performing as well as the Winix 5500-2, so presumably the Winix C545 would be good. I don't recommend the Winix 5500-2 (which I also have) for ***bedrooms*** because you can't turn off the annoying display light--not good for sleeping. But I consider the 5200-2 to be better than the aforementioned Coways only because of its charcoal filter with charcoal pellets--not the charcoal filter pad that the Coways use. Also, it's easy to forget to turn off 5500-2's pointless "PlasmaWave" feature when you turn on the machine--probably not good to have that activated in your baby's room. Other than that, Winix 5500-2 and the Coway Airmega 200 have the same specs (airflow and coverage). I don't know if the Winix C535 and the C545 lack a light shut off feature similar to the Winix 5500-2's lack of that feature. Levoit Core 300 seems ok but it has some quirks mentioned in this video of the Levoit Core 400: [https://youtu.be/h-keLXkIKI0](https://youtu.be/h-keLXkIKI0) (I like that guy's reviews of air purifies--he really knows what he's talking about. And he rates the 5500-2 as the best one on the market). An air filtration expert did all types of tests on the Levoit Core 400 and the results were impressive. I don't know anything about the Smart Air Sqair. But I notice that unlike the Levoit Core 300 and seemingly all Winix models, the Smart Air Sqair doesn't have an AHAM Verifide certificate (to be fair, neither does any Coway model). [https://www.ahamdir.com/room-air-cleaners/](https://www.ahamdir.com/room-air-cleaners/) Smart Air Sqair also doesn't specify what its clean air delivery rate (CADR) applies to--smoke, dust, or pollen (smoke is always the lowest of the 3)--which to me is red flag on honesty/openness. What's the height of your ceiling?

Yea, I would rank them in that order for bedrooms, with the Levoit 300/400 a 3rd or 4th depending on the Winix C545's light. The Coway 200 and the Winix 5500-2 are very quiet on their second to highest setting (for any air purifier, always use them on the highest settings tolerable and never use the auto or sleep feature). I can sleep with the Coway 200 on that second to highest setting. In the baby's room, you'll get 20 air changes per hour (ACH) with the Coway 200, which is amazing (I always use the smoke clean air delivery rate in the calculation). EPA and CDC recommend 5 ACH, but most air quality experts say that's the bare minimum or too low. Some say you want at least 8 to 10 ACH. In the parent's room, you'll get 12 ACH. Note that these calculations are based on the highest setting, which you prob won't use often. ACH = 60\*CADR/volume

I've found multiple purifiers dispersed throughout the house work better than one large one which is what I had before. Levoit is a good brand, make sure you have the right size for each area and note walls do get in the way of airflow. I have the 200S-P in the larger living area and the Core 300-P in each of the smaller rooms, probably could have sized those up a bit, but they work well and I can feel the difference. I vacuum off the filters when I go around the house vacuuming each week & replace the filters every 3-6 months, judge by how much dust has accumulated inside it that cannot be vacuumed off.

Love my Levoit. Also have their humidifier and it works well. If you're thinking of a robot vacuum, you'll be happier with one that is a mop combo. The vacuum works well but the mop picks up the little bit of dust that the vacuum might not get and just overall feels cleaner (to me at least).

[This is the humidifier](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLV8BM5J?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1) I'm currently using, because I have a large open area and wanted something that could handle a lot of space. I've used [this one in individual](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QWJG68W?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_12&th=1) bedrooms before without issue, though it looks like it might not be available any longer. I've had [this purifier](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VVK39F7?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_14&th=1) for 4 years and its going strong. Just, make sure you open it up and take the pre-installed filter out of its plastic wrap if you go with it. There's a ton of videos of people on social media showing that they didn't do that. As for the robot vacuum/mop combo, I'm going to direct you to [Vacuum Wars](https://www.youtube.com/@VacuumWars) on Youtube, who does all sorts of comparisons between different brands and give their ratings (including a budget buy if the preferred winner is super expensive). I've got a Roborock S8 pro ultra and even though its a couple of years old, its still not exactly cheap.

My recommendation for price/performance USED to be the Taotronics TT-AP003, but unfortunately, it looks like it was discontinued :( All units with HEPA filters have basically the same filter, so don't overthink it. However, the ONE SPEC that matters is [CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean_air_delivery_rate) - this measures how MUCH air it filters. Manufacturers don't like to advertise this unless it's good - likely because their smaller/worse air purifiers wouldn't sell as well! Also note that the advertised CADR is only at the highest (aka *loudest*) fan speed. *For less noise, it's better to get a larger filter and run it at a lower speed - you don't want a little hurricane in your bedroom all night!* Here's some commonly recommended filters (and some from this reddit thread): * The [Levoit Core 300](https://levoit.com/collections/air-purifiers/products/core300-air-purifier) has a CADR of 135 CFM for $99. * The more expensive [Levoit Core 400S](https://levoit.com/products/core-400s-smart-true-hepa-air-purifier) has a CADR of 260 CFM for $219. * The Wirecutter-recommended [Coway Airmega AP-1512HH](https://cowaymega.com/products/mighty-ap-1512hh?) has a CADR of 232+ CFM for $168 (price as of today) - not a bad deal! * The [Winix C909](https://www.costco.com/winix-c909-4-stage-air-purifier-with-wi-fi-%2526-plasmawave-technology.product.100842491.html) has a CADR of 323+ CFM for $199 (Costco online price). Also seems like a good value. * The [Winix C610](https://www.costco.com/winix-c610-4-stage-true-hepa-air-purifier-with-wi-fi-and-additional-filter.product.4000295784.html) has a CADR of 245 for only $129 (Costco online price)! **Probably my recommendation for best price/performance for small/medium rooms.** * The expensive [Dyson HP7](https://www.amazon.com/Dyson-HP07-Purifying-Heater-White/dp/B09LSMRKFD) bladeless heated fan and filter only has a CADR of 80 CFM for $599 (!) You'll notice that filters of similar size have similar CADR. That's because they're essentially a HEPA filter and a fan - it's hard to improve filtration without a larger fan or larger filter. The differences come down to noise level, build quality / customer support, features, and cost of replacement filters. Cheers!

So… I don’t know who told you that you only had to replace the filters once a year but 90 days is optimistic for a Levoit Core. And washable filters are a terrible idea, nobody makes a good washable filter. Just replace the Levoit filter whenever it gets clogged up.

1. They've been forced to remove the HEPA designation from these purifiers, and have redesigned the filters a couple times. The most recent iteration of the filters has a removable/disposable pre-filter, earlier iterations did not. No idea what will ship with a unit you order from Amazon. Additionally, it's still not clear if they are HEPA. I would argue it doesn't matter, if it cleans the air. 2. The filter area is small. The fan, in order to clean enough air, runs faster. It's a tiny fan running at high RPM so eventually it will get loud and whiny. On day 1 this is not an issue unless you get one damaged in shipping. Just something to keep in mind. 2a. The filter area being small, expect to replace these filters much more often. In my experience, while most HEPA purifiers get 6-12 months out of filters, you can expect to replace Levoit filters in 3-6. The unit itself is much cheaper though, as are filter replacements, so this may not be a factor in your decision. I'd just be aware that you'll get less useful life from them. 3. There are reports of bad capacitors on these units, leading to premature fan failure at some speeds. However, this is not unique to Levoit - I've seen this on Winix units as well, and they all use Chinese control boards, so it's impossible to say this won't happen on any purifier. But it's more prevalent on Levoit, and on cheap Amazon brands with which Levoit shares electronics. 4. These are advertised as "smart" and "wifi". In reality they are neither. The sensor is inaccurate and the smart modes are relatively useless in 90% of cases (there are useful cases, to be sure). NONE OF THIS is a reason not to get the unit. They're cheap, they're effective, and that's the best kind of purifier to have as a first unit. Once you KNOW that a purifier fixes your problem(s), you can fine tune your solution to your space.

I’d yank the Levoit units off this list unless cost is your biggest driver. While the Everest air is a good unit, the core is just not. It will clean air at first but it is cheap and the filter cost will add up over time. The lack of real pre-filters really kills these things. From your list, Medify is excellent. As is Coway 400. IQ Air will filter better than any of these units… but moves a lot less air doing so. I own one and I love it but I fully admit it lacks airflow and is VERY expensive. Alen is also good, you can optionally equip them with extra carbon which is nice. You won’t regret any of these purchases tbh.

Sigh. If you searched this subreddit at all you’d see that in general round purifiers are suspect when they claim to be HEPA because HEPA filters cannot be deformed or vacuumed. But you’d also know that Levoit purifiers clean air quite well. If you REALLY need HEPA - and remember, asbestos is a fairly large fiber, compared to pollen - then just get a square filter from literally any manufacturer. If I were filtering possible asbestos, I’d be more concerned about the SEAL than the filter. Coway 150, Coway 250 and up have foam gaskets around the filters for a better seal.

I would go with Smart air if I get another. I have 2 levoits. As I understand it, it's CADR, which is important. But getting another is always a good idea "The CADR of the Levoit Core 300 is tested to the AHAM AC-1-2002 standard and found a result of average 212 m³/h (125 cfm). Based on this result, the Levoit Core 300 would be suitable for a 20m² room. " https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/dispute-finds-levoit-falsely-claimed-filters-as-true-hepa-grade/

If your home was next to other homes that burned down, then first have to access smoke damage inside. Whether it’s serious enough having to tear out drywall and carpet (if have it). Or if repainting all walls will do it. Otherwise, have to deep clean the house. My dad’s house was a block away from where the fire stop in November’s Mountain fire. No structural or visible smoke damage inside, but the whole house smelled like a post camp fire. Me and my brother spent two full days deep cleaning. Washed all the windows and screens. Washed all bedding and clothes. Cleaned all the base boards. Washed couch cushions covers. Vacuumed the carpet and drapes multiple times. After still had a faint smell of smoke left. I bought two LEVOIT air purifiers on Amazon and were delivered even with his neighborhood having a police checkpoint. Couple days later the smell was gone. Most of the result was from deep cleaning the house though

We have a 2500 sq ft home so we have several air purifiers. I went off wirecutter’s list and got Coway Airmega for the rooms with higher ceilings and Levoit for the kid rooms and office (where the litter box is). We have had them for a year and I’m happy with them. They’ve significantly cut down on daycare illness transmission within our household. You want a HEPA filter and actual activated carbon granules-sometimes the activated carbon is just a paper thin layer-not doing much. For cost, consider replacement filter costs not just up front ones. I also like ones that have a sensor so you can leave it on “auto” and it will kick on when you cook or air gets worse without you having to keep track of it. Also don’t splurge on plasma ion or ozone or whatever else-mixed studies show it can react with chemicals to form more dangerous ones at worst and generally not much better at best. Right now you may want to sacrifice optimality for actually having something going to clean your air since it’s a time of high uncertainty. What’s in stock at home depot may be superior to the “best” air purifier that arrives in 2 weeks. Those caveats-no one can give better advice based on “feel” than what’s tests show-and wirecutter actually tested performance https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/ . If you prefer anecdotes, here are some of my experiences: Winnix has been in stock at home depot. I evacuated with my air purifier and I needed something to leave during cleaning to try and detox my pasadena apartment. It was in stock and had hepa+carbon-it seems to be working. Oransi is the one I evacuated with, love the looks, it really seems to work well, lots of aftermarket filters available-downside is that sleep mode sets fan speed to auto, I want it to just turn lights off and leave the fan mode. But It has lasted at least 6+ years. Levoit is what was at the apartment I evacuated to. It seems a little less powerful per dollar spent than my oransi, but it’s night mode turns off the lights while still letting you set the fan speed. My roommate left a Coway going in his room and that thing worked very well to prevent any smoke smell from settling, and it’s highly recommended by wirecutter. If I had to buy right now and I could get one in a reasonable timeline, it’s how I would go.

Factors to consider: - clean air delivery rate (CADR) - noise (decibels) - those two values **at the speed setting you'll use** (most brands dishonestly advertise cadr at the highest setting + noise at the lowest setting!) - upfront cost - replacement filter cost For us, we picked Smarter Air because we valued cadr per decibel of noise, and they beat everyone in that metric. However they're not inexpensive and replacement filter last a while but aren't cheap. If you don't care about noise, or you have a smaller space and don't need max cadr, you might make a different choice. We also have a few Levoit which have nice smart features, but the replacement filters are pricey, and they're extremely noisy at max speed. The best, however, are cr boxes made with computer fans (like Arctic P12's). They are unbelievably silent for how much cadr they offer. However, current models are kind of clunky and DIY or semi-DIY.

My Levoit thinks it's in an OR or a chip clean-room at Intel. It records a tiny blip almost every night, around 0300 or so, but that's about it. I'm a noise weenie at night but this thing is *too* quiet; I know it's running, I see what the prefilter is picking up, I hear it cycle to a higher setting when on auto...but I may just get a clothes pin and a baseball card and really feel like I'm getting my money's worth

Unfortunately, from my research, Levoit is the best for a budget. There is only 1 brand that is better (IQAir Health Pro Plus), but the purifier is like $900. You're better off buying a levoit for every room you are frequently in. Levoit does not market their air purifiers as true HEPA because they were sued by Dyson. From my research, many people have tested levoit products and found that they are just as good as true HEPA filters. Extra input from partner: Amazon room ratings should be divided by 2. So if it's rated for 1000sqft don't use it for a room bigger than 500sqft. Reasoning is: the air exchanges per hour that Amazon sellers use is 1 exchange per hour but ideally you want 2 or even 4 air exchanges per hour

I will throw in a plus for an appropriately sized levoit. I had them when I lived in South Korea and Air pollution was *immense*. I set up three in my apartment and I never had to dust again. Those things worked amazingly well. They increased power when I opened the door and air pollution came in and cooked. And when it detected nothing in the air, it went to lowest power. But honestly, anything that blows air through a HEPA filter will clean particulate out of the air. Anything crazy expensive probably isn't worth it. People have strapped HEPA filters to box fans and have gotten better results than the most expensive air purifiers. Thats all the expensive ones do. It's an expensive fan and HEPA filter.

I lived in South Korea where there was extreme air pollution. In my apartment I would walk around barefoot and notice the bottoms of my feet turning black. I would mop and mop and mop and still nothing. I got a couple of levoit air purifiers, and it almost completely removed dust/pollution from my apartment. I had very little dust and pollution build up after that.

I regularly monitor air quality in my room with separate detector and runnin Levoit Air Purifier. So far what I noticed: Air quality inside my room (house) really correlates with AQ outside even when doors/windows are closed Running air purifier does help to some extent but only when you also close all doors (indoor doors as well!) and of course windows. I noticed roughly 50-90% better AQ in my room when running purifier vs not running it. Effectiveness is largely affected by keeping all doors closed like I mentioned. Automatic mode on my air purified is garbage and always keeps it running low, so I run in on medium/high mode. Only during night I switch to low usually.

Thr levoit air purifiers are incredible. I have no complaints. That being said, make sure that the purifier you get DOES NOT use ozone. Some purifiers emit ozone, which sticks to dust particles in the air and pull them to the ground. The idea is that the air is cleaner afterwards. However, this is not only dangerous for you, but for your reptile.

They clean the air very well and their filter is cleanable a few times before you need to replace. We have a GE filter and it does not work as well. Also, try bathing every other day. That helps a ton and eventually our birds ended up accepting that was their life routine. And finally, are you certain he is having true nasal issues? I have a Dyson, BlueAir, and Levoit in various areas of the house. Levoit is near the litter box and is loud but does a good job - we never smell the litter box. Our favorite is the BlueAir in our bedroom - we keep it on auto mode 24/7. It’s super quiet and seems to work well. The Dyson is our most expensive one and we would probably not buy again. We like that it’s also a fan when it’s warm, but it doesn’t perform any better than the BlueAir which was a fraction of the cost.

I gotta be honest… I hate Levoit air purifiers. I don’t think the design is a flaw. The holes are at the bottom so all of the air that gets purified is from the floor. It tends to suck up dust bunnies and block the vents. A tower air purifier is better, IMO. GermGuardian is great for a room. The filter mostly requires a carbon filter change, and it’s really cheap/easy. A 6 pack is probably $20 or less on Amazon. I replace every 4-6 months. I do a full filter change every two years with occasional vacuuming

Air purifier expert here - bad allergies 😂 Nothing is better than a BlueAir 211+. Huge and will do the whole apartment living area. If you move to a house, will do the entire living space. I used my BlueAir for my 1100 sq ft apartment. And now I live in a 2400 sq ft house and i use it in the main part of the house (30 ft ceilings, open floor plan). Each bedroom that’s being occupied by people really needs its own purifier. Stay away from Levoit… I personally own one and am so not impressed. I have a germ guardian tower (pet HEPA filter) that I’ve loved for 8 years for my master. Coway is a smaller, quieter version… probably a little better too? But I like the white noise of the germ guardian. I recommended a BlueAir 211 on this sub earlier for someone with pets and poor air quality and he bought one and likes it. There are 3 levels…. I use the middle one for everyday use and turn it to the highest strength at night (since it’s loud/super powerful).

Pasting something that was shared by someone I know: "A note here that purifiers can add up on cost. I waited for some discounts and sales as much as I could in getting these, but they don't come by often. For what it's worth -- I think the good quality purifiers are absolutely worth it. And be sure to also take into consideration the filter replacement costs when weighing your purchase. Another consideration is space and air flow. I'm more in favor of having multiple smaller purifiers at different locations rather than having a bigger one doing all the work from one location in the home. Ymmv. Alen purifiers are favorite. They're quiet at lower settings, powerful, and some models have an air quality indicator so you can go into auto mode and the purifier will adjust speed depending on the air quality. The SmartAir / SmarterHEPA purifiers are also great. They're quiet and the most popular models pull air on two of the larger sides. Like the Alen, the clean air comes out on the top side. Both Alen and SmartAir brands have given us fresh air that makes breathing easier. I have allergies and they've abated with both. We have the combination HEPA and activated carbon filter sets -- HEPA for particulates, and activated carbon for volatile organic compounds and smells. I hate the smell of smoke, and having a filter for when there is forest fire smoke or when one of the neighbors forgets this is a non-smoking building has been amazing. Brand that I'm ok having because I already bought but I probably wouldn't prioritize again: Levoit. They have small desktop filters that I thought were neat, but due to a lawsuit with Dyson they've now taken "true HEPA" off some of their products. The small Levoit I have, I still use, I do think it helps a little, but we now have the Alen and SmartAir and they're doing the real work I think. Brand that I was excited about for its size offerings but I'm kinda meh on now: MedifyAir. MedifyAir was one of the purifiers vetted by ProjectN95, so that's how I got introduced to them. But the MedifyAir purifier we have (also a countertop version so not one of the big ones) had a mechanical smoky scent for the first couple of days/weeks we used it. It was to the point I thought maybe we needed to stop using it because maybe it was making things worse? So I'm not sure what's up with that, if we just got a bad individual product or if that's just a quality indicator of the brand. Full disclosure that I did not reach out to them at that time. Brand that's "sexy" but I wouldn't get: Dyson. I'm noticing that Dyson has been more focused on hair products and general marketing lately and hasn't been as good about product improvements. Like for vacuum cleaners, I'd much rather go with Sebo, which is a very solid, very repairable, mechanical brand, rather than a sleek Dyson, which is very difficult to repair. So I never considered getting a Dyson hepa purifier, and honestly I don't think we're missing out on anything special there."

I’ve had a Honeywell Air Genius for 8ish years and it’s more of a tower fan that also slightly air purifies. It does collect dust on the foam pre-filter so you aren’t blasted with dusty air like other tower fans. I vaccine and wash the pre filter and heap filter often so I know they are collecting dust. The washable filters are very convenient and I appreciate that I’m not having to buy over priced filters constantly. During the 2020 northern CA wild fires it did absolutely nothing to purify the air in my apartment. So I got two Levoit air purifiers and they work well but I have had one die from a power surge. Also depending on the unit you get the filters are expensive. But my Honeywell is going strong. It’s honestly a tank compared to any other air purifier I’ve owned. I’ve had it close to 10 years so it’s paid for itself, the fan output is great, as long as I vacuum the prefilter somewhat regularly it works just as good as the day I bought it, I’m not wasting money on filters, I’ve knocked it over so many times and it’s never broken, it’s been through so many blackout/power surges and is still working. So if you want the best tower fan that blows out non-dusty air then I 100% recommend.

High MERV filters make your furnace work harder and can shorten the life of your HVAC system. Most professionals will recommend the cheapest quality but replaced monthly. Most homeowners use medium density replaced quarterly because who wants to add another monthly chore to the list. An air purifier was built with their specific filter rating in mind and are way more convenient besides. Op, I like Levoit. Not terribly expensive, years of being the best rated in home and professional outfits, washable pre-filters which is incredible if you have pets, etc etc.

My husband is a smoker— only in the basement rec room though— I’ve got two air purifiers down there because it’s a room over 700 square feet— they are Levoit air purifiers and were fairly inexpensive. I like that they run automatically and can be adjusted on an app, remind me to check and change filters, and are quiet. They do a good job of removing smoke from the room. I buy replacement filters when on sale. I used to have a big Honeywell air cleaner but it started to smell ‘musty’— I changed to the Levoit after deciding to upgrade.

The [refurbished Winix C545](https://www.winixamerica.com/product/certified-refurbished-c545-air-purifier/) has higher Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs) than the Levoit model. Keep in mind refurbished Winix units are limited stock and offer a 1 year warranty. Air purifier is a great purchase. I have the popular Levoit purifiers in my daughter’s nursery and our bedroom. Quiet asf. I vacuum the filters at least once or twice before I change them out to extend the life. I have a larger GermGuardian downstairs that is less quiet, but does the job. Air purifiers (and open windows) will also help in mitigating airborne sicknesses. Humidifier is a good idea—you likely don’t need to run it year round. We run ours at night in the winter bc of the radiator heat, and any time our daughter has a cough/cold, but again, only at night. You can use an ultrasonic humidifier if you use distilled water, or if you know your tap water is very soft and super clean. Otherwise it will leave a white dust around your house. (I found this out when there was a pile of dust around my Levoit purifier lol.) Evaporative work fine with tap. The cost you save on distilled (and plastic waste) you make up for in buying filters and the labor of cleaning. I have a Honeywell that I only change the filter maybe once a winter, and I clean it when I fill it. We use a Vicks in my daughter’s room, which has a built in filter and warm mist. (She can’t get to it at night, otherwise we’d go with cool mist bc of the heat.) The downside is the filter gets very easily crusted with minerals due to our hard water, and I have to wipe it either daily or every other day to prevent an impossible-to-remove crust from forming. And be sure to check the warnings on any diffuser, as oils and such can be harmful to babies and pets.

I just ordered a levoit. I also found a variety of all their filters for fairly cheap on Amazon. It has nothing but good reviews except for the people talking about how they advertised a false product. To my understanding the margin of what constitutes a true hepa filter can be a hair under and therefore not a hepa filter when in actuality, it really kinda is and is doing the same thing. The prior reviews and even ones now support that it truly gets the job done. I’m not scared of a hair sized difference. Especially when the price is affordable. I fell that all things considered, the worst reviews to consider is the ones about it being loud.

The key is make sure you draw in fresh air at the same time you use it. So pipe it from a window to the unit and put it close to the person but not right beside them. If they can blow out another window even better. The hepa filters will absorb and distribute the smell if too close. The expensive iqair gs model has reviews from cigar smokers and is a good machine but expensive not only to buy but maintain. The levoit should be fine but the key is getting fresh air in and getting the smoke out as much as possible.

I enjoy my levoits. They work very well, are quiet, and look nice. Filters can be expensive, but that goes for all hepa filters tbh But if you want cheap and effective, while being flexible and long lived enough, make one out of a box fan and AC filters. They are ugly as sin but very effective when constructed properly and they last as long as a box fan lasts for whatever that's worth.
