"I’m using levoit filters at home and they’re fine and the 2.5 levels are very low. I have a vital 100s in my bedroom. Its great. And one core 600 for the house, that is in way to large of an area but it does what it can and does a fairly good job

The absolute most important number is the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) Your goal should be to supply a high enough rate of clean air to clean the air in your space at LEAST 6 times per hour. A general rule of thumb to follow is you want the ratio between Cubic feet per minute of clean air (or CFM) and the square footage of a space to be 2/3. So if you have a 150 square foot room, you want an air purifier with at least 100 CFM Both of the units you mentioned have around the same CADR at their highest setting (important to note that most people don't leave their purifiers at the highest setting as that will be loud) so you should go with whichever or is cheaper. However, there are some other options within your budget, such as other brands that might be higher CADR or buying multiple smaller units for the space. For example, the IQAir unit you mentioned is $1,099.99 and gives about 330 CFM at its max setting. You could buy two Levoit Core® 600S purifiers which would have a max CFM of over 800 and it would be a few hundred dollars cheaper. Or could buy two or 3 AirFanta 3Pro units and have over 1000cfm for only like 600 dollars. How big is the space you are trying to clean?

For Covid purposes, the particle size does not matter that much. Any of the purifiers that you mentioned would do a fantastic job. I’d recommend getting one of the larger units (or two of the smaller units) and running them on the medium setting. I’d recommend against the IQAir unit as it’s just very expensive for the CADR. If I were you, I’d buy one Levoit Core 600s and run it on the 2nd setting normally and 3rd setting when someone else is in the room. That would be more than sufficient for the space you mentioned and would only be 300 dollars instead of 1000.

The regular/Core 600S (not plasma pro) is a beast, and you can run it on low in a bedroom and still get a good CADR. Highly recommend for the price point (~$250)

The Levoit 600S series is quite powerful for the price and is a good choice. If you want quiet, you want to oversize - get a unit for medium to large spaces and run it on low when sleeping and high when not in the room. If you can stretch your budget a little or hunt for a sale, the Coway 240/250/250s or Levoit EverestAir (US only model) are great options.

The displayed PM2.5 value on our 3 Core 600S is completely off by around +20ųg/m3 so need to ignore that and use a third party air quality meter. We have a Core 300s as well for the office which displays correct values, not sure what that's about. Other than that, they are fantastic at cleaning the air! We went for the bigger 600S for our 35m2 bedroom because it allows to have it on lower fan speeds at night for similar CADR as the smaller models at max speed which is too loud for sleeping. We live in a dusty climate and keep the device at speed 1-2 at night and the rooms PM2.5 and PM1.0 are consistently at 2-3ųg/m3 now. Best bang for your buck for sure. Coway Airmega 400 has the same CADR and costs 2x as much for example.

r/smarthomeWhat's the best air purifier you've tried? Worth it or a Scam?

IqAir, Austin, Levoit They are all running right now at home. Visitors often tell me the house smells very clean and pure. I have a Levoit 300 by the front door. Levoit 600 in the living room. Austin on the kitchen counter in the corner by the stove. An IqAir in my master. A Levoit 300 in another bedroom. MPR 300 filters for my HVAC.

r/smarthomeWhat's your best pick of home air purifier that actually improves indoor air quality?

IqAir It’s not “smart”. But I don’t need it to have WiFi or smart features. I need it to cleanse the air. I have a Levoit in my living room and the only thing that is neat is telling Siri to turn it to 100% or back down to 50%. The IqAir sits in my master bedroom. It smells clean and crisp in the bedroom!

# Go with this Levoit Core 600S . This thing eats pet hair. The cylindrical design sucks in fur like a vacuum, and the HEPA filter traps even microscopic dander. My allergist actually noticed my symptoms improved after I got it.

Dude, your knowledge is incredible! May I pick your brain a little? I live in Dubai. AQI is 50-150. When it's 50-100 it OK. When it goes to 150 and above, I feel my purifiers cant handle it. 2.5 particles are the main issue. Mainly from the desert, construction and traffic. Right now a lot of outside air gets sucked around doors. Next week I will have worked fixing it, setting up proper air-intakes with a simple filter (better than around the doors) that I can easily change. From there, it goes via AC system (basic filtering) + same basic filters on ducts. Our house is 1700sqf, I have Levoit 600s (living + kitchen), x2 Coway Airmega 150 (one in each bedroom) and one Dyson (we dont use it very often). As mentioned, when air gets bad, I feel they dont do enough, even if I set them to highest settings. I hope my paper-filter solution will help. However, Im considering adding another purifiers. My two concerns are - it will eat up more space + it costs money. I dont mind paying if I have to. Im pretty happy with Levoit. Coways - not so much. Two of them need to clean less space than single levoit, but doing much worse job. So I was thinking to add either another Levoit or maybe BLUEAIR Blue Signature. Which one would be better for 2.5 particles?

Would strongly recommend the Coway Airmega - I own three (Levoit Core 100s, 600s and the Coway) and the Coway wins hands down. You should be able to get it from Amazon for within your price range
