I end up wiping the dust off with a tissue maybe a month or two in, and end up using the filter extra as it fills out more rather than changing every 3 months on the dot. This also depends on use -- if for living room change it on proper schedule if it runs 24/7. I am not sure if there are washable filter options for air filters (only for vacuum cleaners).

They were recommended to me by my doctor, who uses them in her office. As for filters, you can buy the generic ones and they work just as well as the branded, at half the cost. I usually clean each filter once a month, replacing the filter entirely every three months.

I’m a HS teacher and have two desktop air purifiers with HEPA filters (the Medify air ones on Amazon - I change the filters once a semester). I also mask when not at my desk and disinfect during my lunch.

I have two dogs in a townhome and have 3 air purifiers. Absolutely love them. No dog smell. I have one Medify and two Levoit. Just make sure you get one that can actually clean the size of the space it will be in. The downside is buying the filters, but I find it worth the cost, and you can find cheaper, off-brand filters on Amazon.
