I bought a 2 pack of Medify MA-15 for \~$150 USD on amazon and have been using them for a few years now. You can get aftermarket Hepa H13 filters for it with all sorts of improvements that can target things better than the filter it comes with like pollution. They are also very inexpensive relative to other air purifier filters. Each one is good for just under 600 sq/ft and they are whisper quiet. At the lowest setting you don't even know it's on. It only really makes noise on its highest setting.
That's awesome they did that. The air purifiers need to be appropriately sized for the room. I have one in my office that works well (Medify 15), but I do not use one in the classroom. Our facilities management was zero interested in adding any air purifiers to classrooms even right after COVID. I also had my own Aranet4 CO2 meter, but I dropped it and it broke. Still might consider getting another one or a different brand. Our windows do not open. Luckily I am often in a classroom where no one teaches before me so the room does get to air out. I am super lenient with students being out sick.
MedifyAir. They have both wall mounted and free standing options. Filters mail out on a schedule, so I don’t have to keep track- when the filters show up in the mail, I change them. We have four- two MA-25s and a MA-15 for the bedrooms and a MA-35 wall mount for the main living space- and they’ve been great. Quiet, not weird looking, displays that can be turned off, filters that seat snugly in their spots. Fan blades are never dirty. Also to add: I bought the first one almost five years ago and we’ve had zero problems with it. We live in an area prone to wildfire smoke, we have a wood stove that runs almost continuously in the winter, we have a cat and a dog, and no HVAC system to filter the air, so we make these units *work*.
This. I have the MA-15 (bedroom) and the MA-40 (living room). Both work wonders in my home.
I can second this suggestion- it's a great model!! I'm not confident the air is going to mix down a very long hall to the kitchen by itself (regardless of the cadr of the purifier). If you had the stovetop exhaust fan on pulling air through, or just a regular fan somewhere on low, that might get air moving in from the hall, into the kitchen, so the purifier could pull it through. Re: bathroom- it's my understanding humidity isn't good for HEPA filters and that there's a usage range, but I've operated small ones on bathroom countertops okay. I don't live in a humid area, and my bathroom does not get super steamy. I used the smaller levoit, and a small medify model. (Sorry don't recall model #s).
I’m a HS teacher and have two desktop air purifiers with HEPA filters (the Medify air ones on Amazon - I change the filters once a semester). I also mask when not at my desk and disinfect during my lunch.
I have two dogs in a townhome and have 3 air purifiers. Absolutely love them. No dog smell. I have one Medify and two Levoit. Just make sure you get one that can actually clean the size of the space it will be in. The downside is buying the filters, but I find it worth the cost, and you can find cheaper, off-brand filters on Amazon.
medify needs more love. those medical grade H13 filters are legit
I've been using Medify Air for 5+ years and they've held up well. They work well, especially during wildfire season. I also run them when guests are present to reduce the spread of airborne germs for an immune compromised household member.
We use medify air purifiers
