My approach to managing MCAS has been to put a Corsi Rosenthal box in every for the high CADR, and also a commercial HEPA purifier in every room for the finer particles. My MCAS went absolutely wild last winter so I basically tripled the CADR I had in every room and it has helped so much. My favourite unit is definitely the Smart air blast MKII, there is also a mini version. Quiet but extremely powerful, simple, huge HEPA filter that lasts 2 years. Next I would recommend either a homemade CR box or a premade kit. I'm in Canada so I bought a kit from Northbox systems, Clean air kits is the American equivalent. Can't really beat the CADR on these units, especially when taking into account how quietly they are. /r/crboxes If you want a small commerical purifier, can't go wrong with the Costco Winix units. Price can't be beat and I find the sound of these more pleasant than most commerical purifiers. I have 3 for many years now with no issues. I also have an Air Doctor and a Levoit that I don't recommend. Cheaply built, irritating sound.

I'd strongly consider the Smart air blast full size or mini for your main room. I also have MCAS and I react in any room that doesn't have very high air exchanges per hour. I have a mix of HEPA filter commercial purrifiers and premade Corsi-Rosenthal boxes throughout my house. Northbox systems in Canada and Clean air kits in the USA make very powerful CR box kits that push way more air than any commercial purifier will.

I forgot to mention these two specifically in my comment. Easily the best big machines for low noise.

There isn’t a purifier that exists in that price range that can provide 5 air changes an hour for 1,500 square feet. The Smart Air Blast - MKII is your best bet. It’s rated for 1,600 square feet. You could buy 3 AirFanta 3 Pros

Smart Air Blast MKII. It's a budget blaster on the front end. https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/smart-air-blast It might be cheaper to buy two purifiers that can provide 5 air changes an hour 600-700 square foot space. You could run them at lower speeds and still achieve good air cleaning

If this is just for dust, why not just dust more often? https://housefresh.com/how-to-reduce-dust-in-your-apartment/ For 3,000 square feet you're going to need multiple purifiers. If you're resolute in not buying multiple, the Smart Air BLAST - MKII is the best bet. It's not cheap though. https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/smart-air-blast

If you're wanting something to clean the air in 1,000-1,500 square feet, the Smart Air Blast MK II is up for the job. It's quiet and there's no wi-fi. It does have carbon filters as an option. https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/smart-air-blast Here's an independent review on its smaller sibling: https://housefresh.com/blast-mini-review/

r/AirPurifiers The first step is to tell us your room size. This is length x width x ceiling height. Room size helps us determine Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs). People with allergies generally need greater CADRs than the bare minimum suggested by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. The second: what are your allergies? Are they particulates based (soot, pet dander, dust, smoke particles, pollen, etc.), gases/vapors based, or both? Lastly, we need a budget. Powerful *and* quiet air purifiers aren't cheap. Consumer-grade air purifiers won't be BIFL. Commercial-grade and industrial-grade units claim a high number of operating hours (e.g., 50,000-100,000) because they're being run 24/7. Unfortunately heavier duty machines are really expensive ($2,000 and up) and generally very loud. The quietest high performing air purifier is the **Smart Air Blast MKII Air Purifier**. Top specified Sound Level is 43 dB. Top Composite CADR is 559 CFM. Separate particulate CADRs are not measured. It has a metal body and wheels. Price is $929 from Smarter HEPA. Another great choice is the **Coway Airmega ProX**. Top specified Sound Level is 46 dB(A). CADRs are in the mid-500s CFM. Also has wheels and many other features. Price: currently $899. The **ProX** has been on sale for $619 several times in the past few months. If you can hold out, you may want to track the price for a better deal.

I don't think the absolute best purifiers for a large room are on this list. In order to calculate minimum Clean Air Delivery Rates (CADRs), we would need your room's length x width x height. [CADRs should be at least 2/3 of your room's area (assuming an 8 ft. high ceiling)](https://ahamverifide.org/ahams-air-filtration-standards/). For wildfire smoke treatment, Smoke CADR should *equal* your room's area which again assumes an 8 ft. ceiling. The best for large rooms in my opinion would be the [Coway Airmega ProX](https://cowaymega.com/products/airmega-prox) and the [Smart Air Blast MKII](https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/smart-air-blast) as both are quiet and powerful. From the list OP has shared, the best is clearly the [Medify Air MA-112](https://medifyair.com/products/ma-112?variant=31240021180483). However, it is very loud at 70 dBA. Keep in mind that CADRs are usually listed for the top speed setting only. The top seed is the loudest. Lower speeds have lower CADRs.

I think the House Fresh article may be wrong. The Smart Air Blast Mini likely does not have 6 pounds of activated carbon. [On Smarter HEPA's website](https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/blast-mini-carbon-filter), the weight of activated carbon within the respective Mini filter is listed as 25 ounces or 1.5625 pounds. From the [Smart Air Knowledge Base](https://smartairfilters.com/learn/smart-air-knowledge-base/how-much-activated-carbon-weight-smart-air-purifiers/), the listed figure is 1.19 kg or 2.62 pounds.

Exactly as u stated. All depends on your goal. And yeah I wish I had the Full size smart air blast instead of the mini but they were out of stock. It really doesn't saturate with smells either...it's great

For particle filtration I'm a big fan of the coway airmega proX when it's on sale, or a smartair blast. Gasses/vocs are more complicated as it depends heavily on the particular compound you need to adsorb, and there honestly aren't many good options in the residential purifier space for many of them so ventilation or source control is typically a far better option than trying to filter them

Get one Smart Air Blast Mk II (tall) with the charcoal filter (3 lbs). Replace the charcoal filter as often as budget allows (it’s separate from the HEPA). Run it on high 24/7 for maximum CADR. In addition, run an IQAir GC MultiGas XE or GCX MultiGas XE with one of each canister (they hold four total). You will likely have to purchase each type as a four pack. Carbon VOC Canister • High-capacity activated carbon • Best for general VOC removal and chemical fumes Formaldehyde Canister • Impregnated media optimized for aldehydes (especially formaldehyde) • Includes potassium permanganate and other specialized substances Ammonia Canister • Media specifically designed to capture ammonia and amines Acid Gas Canister • Targets acidic gases like hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, etc. The canisters can be mixed and matched for customized filtration. This is rarely done with the GC platform, but I suspect it’s more commonly done with the GCX platform, which is often used in more industrial or lab settings. Run it on low/medium (Speed 2 or 3) for increased dwell time. I would contact IQ Air for more tailored advice given how expensive it is.

You’re going to want two kinds of air purifiers: one for particulate matter (HEPA) and another for VOCs and gases (carbon). Most consumer air purifiers either don’t have any carbon or have just a little as a marketing ploy. Hence the need to buy a real, dedicated carbon purifier. You’ll likely want an air purifier for each frequently-occupied room of the house (one for bedroom, one for living room). I’ve studied this subreddit for months and also done a bit of my own research and have hopped on the phone with a few different air purifier companies to ask about their products. All I can tell you is what purchases I’ve decided to make for my home: a Levoit EverestAir for the living room, a Levoit EverestAir for the bedroom, an AllerAir Smoke Eater for the living room, and a SmarterHEPA Smart Air Blast MKII (with the add-on carbon filter) for upstairs.

700 square foot apartment, and I love mine. It’s my third one. I’ve tried others and they don’t even come close to this for my particular issues. I’ll never buy another brand again. (I lost first 2 Health Pro+’s to two consecutive moldy rentals. Bad luck, for sure. They still worked great, but I didn’t want to chance bringing them with me.) Edit: I have had a smaller Levoit, and the SmartAir Blast which was industrial sized. Neither came close to the IQ Air for me. I was so bummed I got the Blast instead of the IQ Air. (Lost that to one of the moldy rentals too.) The quality of clean air from the IQ Air makes the ugliness and footprint it takes up worth it to me. I wish it were pretty but it’s a total eyesore that I will go back to again and again.

I have 3 cats in my apartment. I'm running the air purifier 24/7 so I went with the Smart Air's Blast (cost around USD630 or something). Makes a huge difference.
