I have several Oransi air purifiers and am happy with them. One of them is the Oransi Mod+ and that is highly rated and picks up a lot of dust they also make a smaller unit called the Mod Jr which I also have. Their newest purifiers are called Airmend. They are third party tested and highly rated I have four of them. They are different than most air purifiers in that they do not contain both a Hepa and Carbon filters together. They have separate units for each and this way they operate more effectively. The carbon filter contains 3.2 pounds of carbon and is over two inches thick. And these purifiers are economically priced starting below $200 for the units with smaller motors.
Yup, I just replaced the filter in my 75i and maybe I smelt a tiny bit of a smell for about 30 mins but it was faint.
On the same day I replaced my filter in my Oransi Mod Plus in a different room and that filter off gassed for a solid 36 hours..
It's been a few years since I bought the Alen purifiers but I don't remember them having any smell out of the box whereas the Winix, Oransi and Coway purifiers had noticable off gassing for a few days.
They're expensive but they seem to stand by their products.
I use the Oransi one because it’s specifically bird safe and less expensive than the ones marketed by influencers etc. I love it. It’s a simple, safe, but very effective filter.
